Exorb M_D1scharge I would have to say finger(s) Picks never really apealed to me. they tire out my arm and wrist, and I loose alot of skill with it. fingers give a better sound, speed and feel to the bass. Why use one pick with you have 2 or 3 or some people 4. I go much faster when I have my fingers. Alot of people i talk to don't like bass players that use picks. I really don't see why. I think it mostly matters what your left hand is doing. I prefer my fingers as well(I'm faster, have more tone variation, and string skips are easier), but with a pick and the right tone you can get some very funky and fat sounds. If your arm and wrist get tired though you probably have poor pick technique. My instructor and I talked about pick technique the other day, one of the main things that you MUST do with a pick is make sure your arm is very relaxed. If you stay relaxed you get the most out of your movements and you don't tire out.
Yeah your right about the picks tone quality. but it has to be just right other wise it sounds clanky and .... how do i put this... "chubby?" Go ahead and laugh lol. Ill keep my relaxation in mind next time i play guitar.
