((If by some chance I get hacked again while typing up this post, I will eat my own hand.))
Lance was a master of illusion and had been spending the last few months trying to perfect his ability to create exact copies of himself and performing a vanishing act at the same time. He had always succeeded at this trick, but with his abilities getting stronger, they also had gotten harder to master. It wasn't that it took a ton of energy, but that it took a ton of his concentration to perform two things at once and with even a single mistake it would mean failure on his part and the fight would end. But he had done this a thousand times and if there was no such thing as perfection, Lance had gotten the closest with this skill. Jay's power was unimaginable and Lance knew he would only be able to take a few hits and then it would be game over. That's what he saw this as, a game. Fighting Jay was a simple game to him.
But Jay started speaking before the fight had started and through Lance off just a tad bit, enough to almost make his illusion falter. Something about Institutes killing his family. Lance grinned, trying not to show that he had been thrown off of making a very important illusion. He started again on his doppler ganger and caught Jay's eye. He was about to speak when Jay attacked with just enough time for Lance to finish his illusion. He watched from a few feet away as Jay's right fist went through the figure that looked like Lance but instead went through into air, and his left fist came right after. The doppler ganger fell apart and Lance chuckled a few feet behind Jay. He put his right arm up and didn't have to watch as it transformed into a long b*****d sword. His eyes drifted over to where Tripp was slaughtering the Institute men. That also brought Lance joy. Once his men had been taken down, he would have two opponents and things would get interesting, if Tripp chose to not go after Alice.
He still had the same sick grin on his face and he spoke with an icy voice. He had everything planned out, now he just had to wait for Jay to make the next move. But why not push Jay just a bit more?
"If I was on that team that massacred your family, I'm sure they deserved every painstaking blow that was delivered to them."

((Bare with me, this will probably get confusing, and I don't mean this post, the next one))
Lance was losing his luck. His moments were quick, but not quick enough. Lance could only see a blur of colors as Jay attacked and before he knew Jay had performed some attack that forced him back. Lance gasped for air and one hand trailed down to his stomach. He felt like he was dying and it was making him nervous. He ran at Jay with his transformed arm in the air ready to attack, but ended up having a coughing fit. It was only a few seconds, but Lance managed to cough up enough blood to make him shiver from the sight of it. Still, he refused to back down, and he wiped his mouth clean with his good hand and went to attack Jay once again. But something was wrong and he could feel it. He decided not to question it and turned back to Jay, the grin he had held throughout the beginning of the fight was gone and Lance was dead serious now. He was preparing to run again at Jay when he heard the sound of a gun firing.
The feeling of a bullet tearing through his face was excruciatingly painful. But Lance didn't need to worry about the pain, because it was less then a second before he was out. The bullet had torn through not only his face but it had also made its way into his skull and past. Lance's body fell to the ground, the look of shock still plastered on his pale face. The illusion around them faded the moment the bullet had hit and Jay would be back on the rooftop with Lance's lifeless body before him. Lance hadn't even injured either of his opponents and had lost. Fortunately, he wouldn't have to bare the pain of not winning yet another fight. One of the Institute's most prized leaders was dead.

It was no surprise to Susan when Lance's aura disappeared. He was always over confident and it was that side of him that caused him to lose so many fights. Still, he had a special place in Susan's life and seeing his color fade from the scene of the fight made her anxious. Someone placed a hand onto his shoulder, as if to tell her to wait but she couldn't. They were only a few houses away watching the scene and she had seen enough. A few voices called her back but she ignored them and headed to the rooftop where Lance's body was and the two rebels were. She reached it within seconds after jumping from rooftop to rooftop. It was as she had suspected, Lance had failed to bring down these two. But Susan wasn't worried, in fact, she was mostly focused on getting this body back to the Institute scientists. If she begged her father he would be able to do something. Besides, Lance's color was still there, only it was very dim. He wasn't done living, at least she hoped so. She didn't want to tell herself that she was imagining the dim color over Lance's body. She knew for a fact it was there.
She stood over the body and then looked up at the rebel. The one who had killed Lance was gone, he had fled from the illusion. She wondered if he knew he had killed Lance. She didn't want a fight from the one before her, and both seemed strangely familiar. She remembered a few years previous to a fight between Lance and two others. She put the faces together and realized that it was the same two rebels and found it a bit ironic. She had saved Lance's a** last time, but she had waited too long this round. But the demon one, he looked even more familiar. She remembered back to a mission she had been given many years before and realized she had been apart of the massacre that had destroyed his family. Her mind never failed her and this had to be one of the members of that family. It was one of the worst things she had ever done, but she would never regret helping the Institute claim victory. All rebels deserved the same fate.
She had started draining their powers before she had made herself present. Jay's demon abilities still fell victim to her power drain She knelt down to Lance's body and studied it carefully. His entire side of his left face was destroyed and his dead eyes stared at her coldly. She wiped some of the blood away with her own hand and addressed the the rebel without looking at him.
"Leave us." It came out harsh and soft, and yet her voice seemed to echo off the nearest buildings. She looked up and met Jay's eyes. "Go find the others." She had known enough by observing that there were other rebels nearby. Her team filed in behind her slowly and carefully, watching Jay with angry eyes but none of them aimed their weapons. She didn't have time to fight him. She had to bring Lance's body back to the Institute before he was gone for good. There was still time to bring him back.

((One more bout of not posting for Radé while I wait for Anna, then moving on with or without her. Not trapping one of my main characters.))
Tripp slowly pulled himself into a sitting position, making damn sure that he hadn't broken anything. His diagnostic finally finished and found nothing broken, which was good for him. Gods forbid that something metal break, then he'd have to find a doc that could fix him up, and good ones were rare... hence his situation in itself.
Shaking his head to clear it, Tripp next tried to stand and succeeded without falling over. His vision was clearing up as the diagnostics finished and in a few moments, assuming he didn't get jumped first, he would be able to move without any system problems. He shifted his weight slightly so that he was scanning the area with his gun now, just in case
There was still noise from the roof, but fortunately no one seemed to be looking for him... Small favours.

Susan didn't flinch as one of her men was thrown off the building from Jay's orb. His anger didn't surprise her, but she didn't back down and instead lifted Lance's body into her arms. The coldness of his skin without the blood flow made her cringe and she knew she only had about an hour before the body would be permanently dead. She kept her eyes on Jay's and didn't look to see one of the Institute helicopters landing on a building behind them. The sound of the blades turning made her feel a bit better knowing that her people were around her, but she still had no time to spare talking to Jay.
"Let me bring his body back to the Institute. I know who killed your family and if you let me bring Lance home, I promise you I will meet you and tell you who killed them." She had to shout the words across the building and watched in anticipation for Jay's next move. "I have no need to fight you Jay, in fact, I would hate if it came down to that. You have no reason to trust an Institute and I have no reason to give you the information, but you'll just have to believe me." The worst part of all of it was that she was sincere. Susan would meet with Jay once Lance was safe at the Institute and she would give Jay all of the bloody details. It would probably mean death for her, seeing as she was one of the few on that team.
She stood up slowly, the helicopter behind her. Instead of heading to it, she waited for Jay's answer. If he chose to kill her and the men around her now, she would be with her beloved Lance. But if he let them go, he would gain the knowledge of what happened to his family and finally get revenge on the people that had massacred them. She really hoped Jay would believe her, or else in a matter of moments she'd be burning in hell with the same man in her arms. And so, she waited.

Madlax heard the news of Lance as soon as she woke up. She sat up and tore off the IV that they had placed on her finger. She had woken up in the hospital, and she had listened to some nurses talking. One of the women saw Madlax wake and walked over to her. “Miss Madlax, you mustn’t get up yet! You wore yourself out earlier.” Madlax didn’t listen, she stood and pushed past the nurse trying to listen to her comm. A large security guard grabbed Madlax and tried to stop her but Madlax blew his head up. The nurses scrambled to her but, they couldn’t do much more than scream because Madlax was walking away. “Madlax go back there right now.” A voice said into her head but Madlax just ignored him. She managed to find her blood soaked kimono and get out of the hospital in a matter of minutes.
She didn’t waste time to put her kimono on. No, the officials might be after her to force her back into bed. She needed to get out of the hospital, it reminded her of Shaw and death. She didn’t care that much about Lance, Madlax had removed him from her heart labeling him as a distraction. “Damnit!” she shouted coming to a stop in front of the stairway doors. They were only key activated and, Madlax didn’t have her card on her. She slammed her fist into the doors and swore again. Madlax then focused on the doors. They went boom. I Love that sound. she thought to herself. Madlax had taken the liberty of taking out the door and the elevator, she could just run up the shaft now.
Madlax reached the top of the shaft and strolled carelessly to her room. She kicked open the door and strolled inside. Pausing only to pull her gun out and point it forward. Good, no agents here to tranquilize her. She darted to the bathroom and took her second shower of the day. (Apologies for the pointlessness of this post... and the shortness...)

((Don't apologize for posting. I love seeing more posts!))
His threats were meaningless to her. She let those words fly over her head and paid no attention to his talk about returning to the Institute and killing Lance. There was only a 50% chance Lance was going to make it through the experiment and God would only know what Lance would become if he survived. In a way, Susan was already grieving for the loss of a good friend, even if Lance could have cared less about her. But she did pay attention to Jay's questions, knowing that once the truth was revealed, her life would be at stake. Once he finished she sighed, but still watched Jay.
"You were a foster child, living with your "family". According to past records, your foster mother and father were both working with the underground rebellion which would eventually become to be known as Retribution. Your father had recovered some of the Institute's missing files and we couldn't let him carry on that information to the rebel leaders, and so team was sent out to assassinate the family."
She pushed some of her hair that had fallen into her face and kept a very serious look on her face throughout her entire explanation. "I was one of the few on that team. Lance was never on that team, but one of my old friends was, and he and Lance were very similar. If it's any consolation, your father stabbed him through the chest with a fire poker." She grimaced at remembering the scene she had witnessed years before. Her best friend had finally been placed on a mission with her and some rebel b*****d killed him. She found her face transformed into a glare and recovered quickly, not wanting to let her emotions get the best of her.
"I understand your hate with the Institute, Jay. But you can reclaim your revenge right now because I was the one who killed your mother and father. The others helped clean up, but after my friend was killed I couldn't control myself."
