Captain Jas Sturm

████████████████████████████████ █████

Once the door was closed behind her, Jas tossed her hat onto a crate and began shrugging out of the heavy leather duster she was wearing. By the time Fayra had made her appearance, the captain had tossed her coat to join her jacket and was rolling up her sleeves while trying to keep the fine, loose strands of her hair under control.

"Didn't get shot at nor harassed. And I got a bath. I'd say it was good." she nodded with a slight smile before turning to Aria. "What about you, Aria? Was it good for you too?"

Midorikawa Aria

From their bathing things, Aria found both a hair tie and a brush. She stepped up behind Jas and worked carefully toward taming her wayward locks. Her touch was very gentle, fingers working it into a braid again now that it was dry.

"You were wonderful as always, dear," was Aria's response to Jas' question. She said it with a little smile on her unpainted face, calmly working on her captain's hair.

Without her costume on, Aria was only recognizable by her air and voice. The illusion created by her makeup was so different than how she actually looked. There had been situations where someone had come looking for the Companion and been confused to find Aria instead.

Under Aria's hands, Jas fidgeted for a few moments before sitting still on a box of supplies to make it easier for the First Mate to braid her hair. At first it looked like the tall blonde would protest Aria taking the time to braid her hair, but Jas settled with the expression and body language of someone who has become used to having protests squashed.

"I try to be my best." The captain said dryly. "But who knows, one of these days one of those nice young people you work with will whisk you away."

Aria shrugged, her smile a little sad as she looked at the back of Jas' head. "Don't think they haven't tried. But marriage means retirement from everything. No one wants a wife who still insists on traveling the sky."

As captain and first mate conversed, Fayra slowly made her way down the stairs to be on the same level as them. Without the heavy coat on it was easier to tell she was slender- her white shirt was cut to show her narrow waist.

"You have a very nice ship. Jaden left to get those supplies. Ah.. z-ze should be back anytime now I think." She watched the two of them with curiosity, their interaction not quite what she would have expected after first meeting Jas.

"I wouldn't say no one." Jas said, reaching blindly backward to pat Aria.

The tall blonde had been aiming for Aria's knee, but ended up patting the other woman lightly on her perfectly formed rear. If asked, Jas would blame the fact that she hadn't been looking to make braiding her hair easier. Clearing her throat, Jas's pale blue eyes flicked to Fayra.

"Ah. I wouldn't call her a very nice ship. She's a solid one though." the captain replied with a faint smile.

Jaden Chu

The loud rumbling, grating of the external cargo door lowering followed by the internal doors sliding aside announced Jaden's arrival. A moment later Jaden drove the heavily laden Mule up and into the middle of the cargo bay. Ze parked the vehicle before hopping off and wordlessly clomping over to the control panel to shut the doors. Once they were shut, Jaden offered the group a lopsided grin.

"Well now. I hope I ain't interrupting nothing, Cap. You and Aria want some alone time? Doc and I can go load up the Infirmary while you two go off and..."

Fayra approached the vehicle and it's supplies, looking over what Jaden had brought back with hir inquisitively. As far as she could tell, everything she had asked for was present.

As Jaden pulled in Aria smiled, putting the tie in at the end of Jas' hair. "Well Captain, I wish we could wait and see if anyone was intending to answer our need for a mechanic, but your melons aren't getting any fresher. Perhaps there will be someone on Sihnon who will fill our needs."

The moment Aria finished with her braid, Jas popped to her feet, pivoted and briefly pressed her lips to the Companion's temple. "Mayhaps. I'll send out a wave to some contacts while I wait for clearance. We'll see what happens."

With that, the captain swept up her coat and headed up the stairs. Jaden, on the other hand, yanked a large crate off the back of the mule with a grunt and nodded at Fayra.

"Probably best if we get this stowed 'fore Cap gets clearance to leave from the port. Grab that bag on the seat. I can get it unloaded and you can stow it wherever you want." the muscle grunted as ze started toward the infirmary.

"Better get a move on, then." Jas' voice echoed down to them.

Fayra picked up the bag that had been indicated, hefting it much more easily than her frame would have suggested. She used her other arm to pick up one of the smaller boxes toward the top of the stack then followed in Jaden's wake.

"How long is the trip from here to Sihnon?" Fayra asked quietly as she set her parcels down once they reached the infirmary.

Behind them, Aria watched both for a short time when went to keep Jas company on the bridge. She had already let her Okiya know that she would be on Sihnon shortly. A visit to her mother might be avoided but she was fairly certain her schedule would be very busy once they got there. The companion was determined to enjoy her time away from work as best she could.

On the bridge, Aria settled into her favorite chair lightly, pulling her knees up beneath her.

Jas arrived a bit before Aria and had just enough time to hang her coat in the locker before the Companion joined her. The captain dropped heavily into the chair and her fingers flew across the boards as she began signaling the appropriate parties and setting up her wave for her contacts. Not only did messages need to be sent out, but a course needed to be plotted then double checked to be safe.

"Your medical exam up to date? I'm not sure when the next time we'll be heading Core-wards is." Jas asked in a distracted tone.

Jaden Chu

"Could be two days. Could be longer." Jaden grunted between breaths as ze carried the crate into the infirmary and dropped it heavily on the bed. "Depends. Cap's shiny with the Alliance officially, but there's folk here who don't like her much. Not so many civilians, but Feds and the like."

The ship's muscle absently rubbed at the back of hir neck to work out a knot that had formed before frowning in thought. Jaden stood there for a minute, thinking, before shaking hir head and clomping back out toward the mule for the next crate.

Midorikawa Aria

Aria felt a little twinge of irritation at Jas' question. She was required by the Companion's Guild be be constantly up to date and Jas knew that perfectly well. Her annoyance only showed as a very small undercurrent in her voice when she responded to the question. "Mm, yes. I expect that I'll be busy once we're on Sihnon. I'm really hoping that I do not have to visit the Okiya personally but I do have to let them know that I'm on the planet."

Showing a small amount of nervousness, Aria realized her irritation was due to that rather than anything Jas had actually said. She played with the end of her hair thoughtfully, watching Jas' fingers work. There was only two people in the whole of the 'verse that Aria dreaded seeing. Both of them lived on Sihnon year-round with only a few trips for business in the Core Worlds; her mother and her sister.

"I should set something out to air just in case..." The irritation was gone, replaced by thought.

"Do it tomorrow." Jas grunted a few minutes after Aria had finished speaking, so absorbed in her work that she had missed the other woman's changes in mood. "We got a couple days we can spend on planet, but I got a job lined up already for after. Right now, I need you to check my math. Never was good at these long-distance flight plans."

With that, the tall blonde sent the equations over to the console in front of the Companion. The moment that was dealt with, Jas finished her wave and sent it out before checking the status of their position in the lift-off queue.

Fayra Gardiner

Fayra followed Jaden with her eyes until she left the room and then got to work. There was a time she would have offered help with a sore neck. All she could do now was offer some mild pain meds. Maybe when the muscle returned she could see if ze wanted anything.

Left alone, the doctor slipped out of her blouse to keep it clean, wearing a slim camisole beneath. She made sure her hair was still up and out of the way and she then got to work storing the supplies Jaden had brought in the infirmary. It was best she do it, otherwise she would never know where some of it would end up.

So absorbed in her work, Jaden would be able to return to the infirmary in hir clunky boots and stand there several minutes before Fayra would really be aware of hir presence. Hir first arrival, Fayra was on her knees in front of a cabinet, shoving something toward the back. For the first time Jaden had a glimpse of a dark tattoo on the medic's fair skin. On her right arm, the number 27 ornately designed in only black ink.

Jaden Chu

Jaden came and went once noisily before spotting the unnaturally dark spot on Fayra's skin. When ze returned again, Jaden dropped the bag heavily on the counter and leaned up against it casually. Jas hadn't announced that they would be taking off soon and the infirmary was getting a little crowded, which meant that Jaden could and probably should take a short break. The ship's muscle waited a few moments before speaking.

"Didn't think a pretty lady like you would go out and get ink." ze mused. "Not many folk out there do and I ain't never met one like you that did that weren't for make up."

Midorikawa Aria

Sitting up a little, Aria read over the numbers in front of her, eyes moving swiftly over the screen in front of her. With only a few minor changes it was right; Jas wouldn't have sent them too terribly off track. Only a minor detour.

"There you go," she sent it back to Jas. "You were only going to put us a day off. How does the line look?"

"What would I ever do without you?" Jas sighed at seeing the adjustments to her initial equations. A moment later something on her console pinged and she glanced over. "Line looks like we're moving out."

The captain went through the engine warm-up procedures with one hand while reaching for the ship's comm with the other. "Jas speaking. We're cleared to break atmo in fifteen."

Then, just as abruptly as she had flicked the comm system on, Jas turned it off and turned her attention to getting their ship off the ground in one piece. The ship rumbled, her deck vibrating as the engine revved up. As predicted, fifteen minutes later the shaking and jostling told anyone who couldn't already see out of the windows on the bridge that they were in the process of breaking atmo.
