'I...Uhm... Thank you.' He could see the faint hint of amusement in the ex-nation's eyes, and supposed it was probably due to the fact that his face had pinkened yet again, but this time, the blush refused to fade. Taking the glasses back from Gilbert, he went to put them on, then decided against it. The glasses were instead placed on the arm of the sofa, as the Austrian's movement was now limited... Though he was beginning to feel quite comfortable and settled, himself. Not to the point of Gilbert's medicine-induced fatigue, however.

Falling silent again, Roderich decided to copy Gilbert and turn his attention towards the screen.

It was nice, Gilbert decided, when the blush was not on his own cheeks. He gave a soft chuckle as the glasses were taken from him, settling back so his face was titled somewhat toward the screen, again. He tried to focus on the movie, but he was unable to take in even a bit of it. He struggled to keep his eyes open.

Giving a slight shiver, he fought against his exhaustion. He bit his tongue, trying to use the slight sting to clear his fatigue. All that he accomplished was the very slight coppery taste.

Red eyes fluttering closed, he felt his consciousness slipping away into dreamland.

(Eh, may do a bit of a timeskippy thing here.~ As I've not watched Jaws in absolutely years... Forgive me. xD)

So, now he was stuck. The Austrian registered that Gilbert's breathing had slowed to a soft, steady rhythm, guessing that he'd fallen asleep. It was oddly sweet... Despite the inconvenience it caused. Then again, he supposed it was his own fault for sitting on the sofa in the first place... The ex-nation really did need to rest, after all.

Making sure not to disturb the albino, Roderich shifted ever so slightly in order to settle himself. It was oddly comforting to have his rival so near him whilst enduring this movie... Although he had meant for them to watch it together, Gilbert's health came first.

----

This was surely torture. Roderich's heart began to hammer wildly as that now-all-too-familiar theme began to surge from the television, feeling himselse tense up again in what seemed to be yet another panic fit. However, he had to keep still for Gilbert's sake... Gripping the arm of the sofa (the glasses had been knocked off ages ago) to the point where his knuckles bleached white, the Austrian let out a muffled whimper.

He wasn't sure how much more of this he could take without reacting in a more volatile fashion... Though he fought against the want to escape.

As the large shark stole yet another victim, Roderich's face blanched. It went white... And then slightly green. He looked horrified... And felt sick. It was taking all of his willpower not to cry or tremble... He bit his hand, muffling yet another sound of fright. He didn't care that it hurt.

Anything to keep himself from disturbing the albino.

PostPosted: Wed Nov 17, 2010 9:53 am
Shivering slightly in his sleep, the albino's brow creased slightly as his medicated mind barraged him with horrid nightmarish imagery. He trembled slightly, a tiny sound of fear slipping from him, drowned out by the sounds of the film.

Jolted from his unrestful slumber by a particularly potent image, his eyes opened wide. He didn't make a sound, though, as he closed his red eyes and willed himself calm.

The frightening sounds from the film indicated the main action of the film and the slight noise from the Austrian suggested Roderich's fear. Opening his eyes again, Gilbert reached up and covered the man's eyes with his hand. "Don't watch if it bothers you," he mumbled sleepily. He was reluctant to move, quite comfortable with using the Austrian as a pillow.

Sighing softly, the Greek pressed the 'End' button his phone. Japan wasn't answering..but maybe he was resting. He was ill, afterall. Having seen Yao and Russia walk back into the conference room, the Mediterranean nation wasn't too sure if he wanted to go back there himself. It would, most likely, only cause grief. Kiku wasn't there..and Turkey was. Combined with the awkwardness between himself and the Asian, it wasn't exactly the most appealing place for him to go.

Well..it's not like he had anywhere else. The rain wasn't exactlyinviting him outside..and it would be a pain to try and keep the cat dry again. Walking back into the conference room, the Greek quickly spotted Yao. He was - of course - standing by the Russian, and it looked like he was being completely ignored.

'Well, at least he know how it feels.. The thought crossed Heracles mind, but it didn't stop the sympathy he felt for the Chinese man. It did hurt; and he knew that himself. Especially after earlier..

Making his way to the Asian, the Greek gently tapped the nation's shoulder. Smiling gently, Heracles talked softly.

"Need a little company?"

PostPosted: Thu Nov 18, 2010 7:41 am

The shark was there, and then it wasn't... Barely registering the slight, tiny amount of light that got between the albino's fingers, Roderich froze. He could still hear the movie, but couldn't see it. After a few moments, he realised that Gilbert was blocking his vision. His pale, peaky complexion instantly flushed into a deep red. Why was Gilbert...? The Austrian was aware that he didn't like to be touched. So why was he so willing to put his hands on him? Although he appreciated the sentiment, Roderich still didn't understand.

'Easy for you to say...' He mumbled quietly, realising again that his teeth were still sunk into his hand. He let the abused hand settle beside him on the sofa, gnawing his bottom lip a little as he began to feel the sting. It was easy for Gilbert to say... He wasn't frightened of this movie. And he wasn't incapable of escaping, or switching it off.

However, soon after uttering the bitter words, the aristocrat felt guilty. It wasn't the ex-nation's fault that he -Roderich- was scared of the movie. He was only just trying to help, after all.

His stomach twisted a little as he turned his head slightly, nuzzling into the palm of Gilbert's hand with a soft sigh. 'Sorry.'

----------

Wheeling around to glance at the Greek, Yao's eyes widened a little in surprise. He looked like a rabbit in headlights for a few moments, shivering as he watched Heracles silently.

Of course he needed company...!

Ivan wouldn't let him have company. He wanted Heracles as a friend, desperately. He wanted to branch out and know other nations a little better rather than being isolated... But that would upset the Russian. Yao had come so close to losing Ivan a few times in the past... So making new friends was a no-no. But Yao had so much love that he could share with so many nations...

No, he wasn't allowed. It was just as Toris had said; he really was Russia's lapdog.

So here, he had a choice. Did he speak with Heracles and risk Ivan getting upset, or did he brush off everyone and stay lonely, the way he was, for the sake of not losing the Russian?

Did he even have a choice?

Yao stumbled a little, feeling light-headed... Smiling a little at the Greek, Yao decided to attempt to speak.

'Heh-heh... Don'tcha know it, aru?' Yao murmured, looking up at Heracles with a glazed-over look in his usually bright eyes. 'I like you... You're a good friend.' He stumbled again, one hand reaching out to grab Ivan's sleeve as a support.

He heard rushing in his head, everything was so overwhelming. His vision fazed in and out, and was so unfocused, like everything was underwater. It was finally catching up; all the events of today, the stress, the angst, the highs and lows all came flooding in at once.

'I'm so damn lucky.' The last word was twisted by a pang of wistfulness. 'So... Lucky.... aru.'

He couldn't hold it off anymore. The Asian collapsed with a thump, overcome by just everything. The stress of just being himself...

Sprawled on his front, the chinese man's eyelashes fluttered a little as he clung to the last few moments of consciousness, registering just how cold he felt.

Trying to push passed his sleepiness and failing miserably, Gilbert kept his hand placed lightly over Roderich's eyes. He didn't mind using himself as a human blindfold. He knew fear. In the passed century, he had entertained it quite often. If something as easy as this could bring a sense of relief, he was willing to grant it. His own fears were ones that didn't really have a relief when they were occurring.

Gilbert gave a sleepy smirk, despite the knowledge that Roderich would be unable to see it. "Yeah, easy for me to say.." he slurred out, voice still carrying traces of fatigue. He probably had to take medication, again, as he was starting to feel the symptoms of his illness again.

He gave a slight blush when Roderich nuzzled his hand. He didn't feel that suffocating feeling of unease, though. Probably, that was due to his thorough exhaustion and inability to wake up quickly. In time, he would probably begin to feel disturbed by minor touches again.

Waiting for a response, the Russian wondered if he should touch Natalia to gain her attention. Most likely, she had drawn inside herself in her grief. She was like him, in that regard, preferring to keep everything inside rather than show it to someone else.

He jolted slightly, however, when Yao grabbed his sleeve. He cast a curious, confused glance back. His eyes widened a fraction at the state the Asian was in.

"Yao?" he voiced, not sure what to do.

His eyes widened a bit more when the Asian's hand slipped from his sleeve. He shivered slightly when Yao hit the ground.

"Yao?" His voice was a bit louder and held a small hint of unease. He knelt, his gloved hand settling on the man's shoulder as he stared down at him in concern.

When the Asian collapsed, the Greek froze in place for a few seconds before stirring into action. Kneeling down beside the Russian, not caring about whether the nation disapproved of this or not, Heracles gently rolled the Asian over, calling his name as he did so. "Yao? Yao?" Placing his hand on the Chinese man's forehead, the Mediterranean nation's eyes widened at just how hot it felt.

"His temperature is really high..I reckon he'll wake if we can cool him down, Russia." Deciding that this wasn't the time to argue, Heracles dearly hoped that the Russian cared about Yao enough for them to work together.

"I'm going to try and find something that'll lower his temperature." Standing, the Greek rushed from the conference room. Pulling a small, clean handkerchief from his coat pocket - these things always did seem to be of use - Heracles headed towards the bathroom. Running the material under the tap so that it was at a suitable temperature, the Mediterranean nation wrung the cloth out so it was merely damp. Quickly returning to the conference room, the Greek once again knelt, and gently patted the Asian's face.

"Yao? Come on Yao, wake up."

Falling silent, Roderich began to settle. Not knowing how long they would sit like this felt odd; it was near the end of the movie though, so he supposed Gilbert would remove his hand soon. It was strangely comforting, not being able to see the movie... It made all of the screams and music lose their fear-factor. He could assure himself that it was just acting, and just dramatic devices used to instil fear inside of him...

Now the shark was gone, he could relax. It wasn't there. It wasn't real.

'Thanks. Despite this being a bit odd.' He smiled a little, guessing that he probably looked strange.

His blush wouldn't fade, though. And the feeling in his stomach wouldn't go away, either... It was beginning to concern him. He wasn't sick... Although the movie made him feel a little queasy, the feeling had settled as soon as the images were taken away.

---------

Yao didn't respond. He felt numb... In his head, he could hear the echoed cries of his name, tainted by the cruelty of imagination. The voices became spiteful, hounding him. Everyone wanted something from him, even these voices were out to hurt him. No... It was best if he stayed like this. Drifting in and out of consciousness, snatching little parts of reality which were twisted. The Asian couldn't tell what was real and what was imaginary.

He couldn't see a thing. It was dark.... He tried crying out for help, but his voice was gone. It was silent... He couldn't make a sound. It hurt to try and speak, try to shout... It was as if his throat was on fire.

'Yao... Yaaaao.... If I... Ask... If best friend, would say yes, nyet...?'

He could hear Ivan's voice. However, he could see nothing; straining to look in the darkness, the Asian began to fret. He couldn't shout out for the Russian...

'Yao? I thought we were friends. Why won't you talk to me?' Another familiar voice rang out in concern, sounding hurt. It hurt the chinese man to hear.

'You think that's bad? We're meant to be brothers and we've not spoken for ages. He doesn't care.'

'Selfish, da?'

'Definitely. Can't do a thing for himself... He's not even answering you. Or me, or Kiku either.'

'That's concerning, nii-san.'

Yao began to twitch in response to both his nightmare and the cool cloth on his head, frowning.

It wasn't true. None of it was true...! As Yao tried to voice this, it remained unheard, unspoken... No matter how much he tried.

'Yao likes me best.'

'Nyet... Yao say we best friends.'

'But brotherly love comes first, surely. Family before friends.'

Hands came out of nowhere, clawing at the Asian. They weren't hands he could recognise; built purely of shadow, out of the same black... He could see them only against himself. Attempting once again to scream, the chinese man tried to fight off the persistant clawing...

'You have to choose one day, Yao.'

The Asian began to shiver, turning this way and that. He kicked a little, whimpering softly as he attempted to fight off the hands on himself in reality, still caught in the throes of the dream.

Gilbert gave a light yawn, covering his mouth with his free hand. The one over Roderich's eyes remained steady due to the training he had underwent his entire life in order to fight. His arm didn't feel sore or tense from holding that position, with his arm slightly being lifted into the air without support.

"Mm, yeah.. no problem," he murmured, dropping the free hand to his rest against his chest.

He could feel the fever beginning to prickle at his senses again, but he pushed it aside. He could wait until the movie was over, he was sure. He just hoped that Roderich wouldn't catch his raise in temperature through his hand. It was probably fruitless, though. He doubted that it wouldn't be obvious.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ivan felt a tinge of irritation when the Greek knelt beside him, but pushed it away in favour of caring for the Asian. He decided that, for Yao's sake, he could push away his dislike...for now.
Rolling his eyes slightly when he dabbed a damp cloth over Yao's face, he nudged the Greek aside. Pulling of one of his gloves, he very gently set his cold hand against the Asian's forehead. It would be better to have the coolness without the moisture, he decided.
He was worried about the fear he could see in Yao's face, though. After all, if there was one thing Ivan could recognize in others, it was fear.
The Austrian wasn't stupid. The rise in heat from Gilbert's palm was a little too quick and high to be natural, and Roderich inferred that the medicine was wearing off. Removing the albino's hand from his eyes, the aristocrat cradled it in his own, tracing the fingertips of his free hand over Gilbert's palm.
'You're getting warm again.' He murmured, looking down at Gilbert with a concerned look in his violet eyes. 'Would you like me to fetch you anything, or are you content to sit for a little while...?'
Glancing up to see that the movie's credits were now rolling, the Austrian looked back down at the German with a softened sigh.
'Are you alright...?'
----------
The voices faded, and with such, the Asian's fretting grew less violent. The coolness had a calming effect on Yao... The nightmarish visions stopped almost instantly. It was somehow comforting to stay in this odd, blank peacefulness... There was nothing to fear, no-one to choose between; he had recognised the voices, certainly. There was no doubt as to who they had been, and it still worried the chinese man...
Though right now, floating around in this nothingness was nice.
Yao's eyelids fluttered open, finding his vision blurred. However, he became increasingly aware of the surroundings; he was on the floor, and it was cold... And a little uncomfortable. He felt a cool pressure on his forehead... And a slight pain, a soreness, somewhere. He vaguely recognised the dull pounding from somehwere inside his skull... And the rushing noise was still there, ringing in his ears.
Giving a soft groan, Yao looked up at the two other nations through half-lidded eyes. They were out of focus... But inference would tell him who they were. Not many nations cared for him, and only a couple of them were still here, so he thought...
'...'M fine...' He slurred in a mumble, attempting to curl up on his side with a shiver. It hurt to do so... And his head hurt. God, did it hurt...
'Dun fuss... N'more...'
PostPosted: Sat Nov 20, 2010 4:28 pm
Gilbert gave a small shiver, watching with slightly blurry eyes as his hand was moved from covering the Austrian's face. He was silent as his hand was cradled, not sure what to make of the situation. He could feel the cloudiness of the fever taking hold of him again. He knew medication was in order, but he didn't want to move. And since he was resting on the man's lap, that meant Roderich shouldn't move, either.
"Mm, no.." he mumbled, closing his eyes to hide the blurriness from sight. He almost flinched at the slight slur in his voice, but held back and prayed that it wouldn't be evident.
He had his eyes closed, shivering slightly again. He knew there was nothing he could do, save moving, that would keep those hidden. "Mm, m'fine," he slurred.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Ivan looked worried, glancing over at his younger sister. "Natalia, you will have to catch a taxi to a hotel for the night. I'm going to take care of Yao. He's not well," he murmured in Russian, glancing back to the ill Asian.

He was relieved to note that Yao was more or less conscious, again. "Is not fine. Is not," he argued, carefully scooping him up into his arms so he couldn't try to move away. He didn't want Yao dealing with this on his own.

'You're not...' Roderich murmured, his gaze leaving their hands in order to look at Gilbert with a concerned frown. The albino had his eyes closed, it seemed- then again, that was no big surprise. Not only did this man seem to be apt on the battlefield... But also rather good at hiding weakness, too. However, as the Austrian already knew of Gilbert's ailment, he was beginning to slowly recognise the signs... Despite the albino's attempts at feigning.

'You'll feel better if I get you medicine... we can sit like this afterwards if you like.' as he said this, the blush -that had slowly begun to fade to a soft pink- flared up again. 'If you're comfortable... Though to be honest, it's better if you rest in bed.'

---------

This wouldn't do at all. Giving a weak squirm, the Asian blinked his bleary eyes up at the Russian with a frown. 'No... Gotta... Take your s... Sist'r... Mmngh... Hotel...' He couldn't allow Ivan to leave her for his sake. 'I'm fine... Really...' He made no attempt to hide the slur in his voice, being moreso determined to make Ivan care for her first. Of course, that was just Yao's way, though. After a few moments, he stopped struggling, finding the Russian's coolness to be a comfort. 'Not sick... Ngh... See Kiku t'm'rrow...'

It wasn't pride that was stopping the chinese man from willingly accepting aid. It was the want for Ivan to make sure his sister was safe first; he wanted for the Russian to value others above him. Especially family... And although Natalia did not like him, Yao wanted the best for her.

PostPosted: Sun Nov 21, 2010 10:37 am
Cheeks slightly flushed with fever, they darkened with Roderich's words. A bubbling feeling of shame ran through Gilbert, disgusted with himself for his failure to hide his sickness. He had struggled too often with it around the Austrian. Ludwig was supposed to be the only one who could read him that well! He was.. slipping, he supposed. Which was disgusting, to himself.

He bit his lip slightly, shivering. "N-no... no' wanna be 'lone," he mumbled out, his slur mixing with his odd Prussian-German accent to make his words hard to understand. His blush grew more evident, embarrassed over his own murmured words.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"N-nyet," the Russian argued, shaking his head. "She able go on own. Is worried about you... Nyet, not fine," he mumbled, cheeks gaining a dusting of pink. He understood that Yao wanted him to take care of Natalia first, but Yao was worse off than Natalia. Beside, she could go with Svitlana. His eldest sister was only barred from seeing him.
"Natalia can go with Svitlana. Nothing stop that... Is worried about you..."
It was somewhat endearing to hear his former rival speak in such a way, though Roderich knew better than to drag the issue out for too long. Reaching to hold his free hand against the sickly ex-nation's forehead, he frowned. 'Your temperature's getting much higher, Gilbert... Please let me fetch you some medicine. After which, I will sit with you in the bedroom if that's what you require.' He persisted, feeling a deeply unnerving concern pool in his stomach.
'Come on... Let me up, and I'll be back in a few seconds. You know that Ludwig wouldn't be too pleased with me if he knew I deliberately deprived you.' Roderich could imagine it... The German's temper was not something to be tested, and delivering inadequate care to his ill older sibling could possibly trigger it.
----------
Ivan was worried about him? Yao's eyes widened a little as he gazed at his friend, glassy-eyed. 'Huh...? Mn... I guess...' It made sense to let the eldest sister take over the care of Natalia... Though he still didn't want to cause a fuss. His face flushed to a peculiar shade of red.
He supposed he had to submit. Clinging to the Russian with a soft murmur of apology, Yao shivered violently. His bosses would be furious with the state he'd gotten himself into... And for spending too much time with Ivan again. he couldn't help it, though... Ivan did mean a great deal to him.
'But... What d'we... Do now...?' He mumbled, closing his eyes. The light hurt.
