And Your Thoughts On Aeris Are...

I like Aeris, she is a very cheerful character with a very nice personality. Yet I prefer Tifa and Yuffie more, but I don't hate Aeris, not one bit. I actually liked her as a character.

At first, I had the same thoughts like Lunar XD

After a bit of reading and video game playing, I found out that she was really just a flower girl, with a bigger heart than most.

I never really said anything about my distaste for Cleris. I don't support it, but I do support Zeris o:

People who say she was sacraficing herself don't understand the character. Why are you saying she's a bad character because of the label that people who misinterpreted her actions place of her? You say you don't believe she knew she was going to be killed, and OMG that writers say THAT'S THE POINT! Her death isn't sacrifice, it's murder. Sudden, quick and unexpected.

If she haddn't die she still could have saved the planet, and it would have happened faster and easier. In death, she realized she might still have the power, and barely made it in time.

Anyways, everyone knows I love Aeris, more so than Cloud and Tifa. Like everyone else, I was confused and angered by how naiive and self-centered she was. Once I found out about Zack, I really pitied her. I was still very much attatched to her prior to that as well... probably a little bit because of Tseng, and probably also because I just liked her. Even with her faults, she was a special part of the team, and the way she hung off of Cloud reminded me of myself and my boyfriend.

Though Maiden isn't considered canon anymore, it still illustrated Aeris experience in the Lifestream, how she was learning what was in the Lifestream and her ability to see what was going on. She had her own story to fulfill.

Anyways, out of all the characters, I think Aeris is understood the least.

I concur. Many people put her on too much of a pedistol. That she can't be heartbroken because of Zack, and be acting on those feelings. She's sacrificing herself to save everyone, ect. It's silly, and takes away from the complex character SE created.

They pretty much ignore all the parts that make her human. She isn't a perfect princess. People that play the game can't miss that she acts selfishly. (which we now know was because she was searching for Zack) And so many people write if off as it was nothing, adding attributes to her that are completely untrue. I see so many people try to find excuses for all her actions. *Sighs*

Right-oh dearie here's the SHPEEL. I'm not saying she's a bad character because of how people misinterpret her meaningless character. I'm saying, I think she IS a worthless character that bored the crap out of me. She was selfish, despite her over glorified "sacrifice" to the planet. She cared about pushing Tifa out of the picture, and worming her way into Cloud's heart. She'd have to be blind as a bat to not see Tifa's feelings for Cloud. Tifa was there first, Tifa knew Cloud longest, Tifa cared for him undeniably, and she STILL hit on him knowing it wasn't fair. And why? Because SHE doesn't want to be alone, and SHE wants to forget the man that she had to create lies about because she's weak as hell, no matter how much emotional strength people pretends she has. This is how I feel: Aeris is selfish, and worthless. I'm glad she GotTFO of my party by the end of disc one. She was an annoying, bubbly airhead that deserved to be stabbed, and there is a God out there because she was. wink

It's fine if you like Aeris, but don't accuse me of certain things because you want to defend her rightful name. Personally, I could care less about a video game character. She ain't real and if she was, she wouldn't be my friend because she's a self centered dolt. This is the internet and I say a lot of offending things because FYI I take the real life more seriously. I understand you are a real person with real feelings that can get hurt--- but if they are hurt over a video game character? Come on now. Move on.

Right, right. So I exaggerated a bit. Okay, more than a bit. But I still don't give her any credit. :/ Hell, someone could save us from I don't know, cancer, but if he was a jackass I'd rather die of cancer!

There's nothing to be confused about. She's self-centered and is almost asking for pity in the way that she asks. I for one, will not spare an ounce of it for her sorry a**. The way she hung off of Cloud annoyed me--- because he clearly wanted her away from him in the beginning. Not to mention that clingy girls are hella annoying. With you and your boyfriend, it's different. You're in love. Aeris was just plain clingy and annoying to a guy she NEVER knew.

It's fine, I understand why you don't like her. It's just I get upset when people put that 'sacrafic' label on her and to me it's just as bad as the Cleris interpretation of her actions being uber true love, ie. wrong.

Sorry, just got a little carried away. Hate her if you want, it's fine, but as long as you hate her for reasons which are part of her character, which you seemed to have explained. You know, it's just like Tifa haters who say she's spoiled and clingy. It does make sense, because that's wrong and made-up and shows they either didn't play the game, or have some blind hatred for someone who's made-up. So if someone hates Aeris for made up crap like she sacraficed herself, than that pisses me off. However, she did cling to Cloud, and she was self-centered. She has her flaws, and though I appreciate her for them, others are more than welcome to hate her for them as well.

And I know what you mean about people getting their facts wrong. If anyone is spoiled it's Aeris. Yeah she lives in the slums but she has a perfect house, perfect garden, and a nice mother figure looking after her. Tifa lost her Mom, her Dad, and had her village burned down. How the hell is SHE spoiled? Just because poor Cloudy-woudy wasn't man enough to talk to her? Gawd.

When I first played through the game (which was a long time ago) I hated Aeris--a lot of her personalities traits and the actions she took annoyed me so much!
But over time, (and after playing FF7 a few more times) that feeling just kind of died away. Once I got to know more about Zack I really felt for her--and even apart from him, Aeris's story is really quite tragic...and my feelings overall have soften towards her.
And while I've never felt like I've liked her character--I do think it wouldn't be the same without her. ^_^

Anyway, that's pretty much how it was for me. xD Though, I softened a little bit before knowing too much about Zack. Once I got spoilers on the Zeris story, I really did feel bad for her, and I came to like her a lot. ^-^

the first time I played the game.... years ago I disliked her. I found her a bit annoying I really just didn't like her personality. However, since then she has grown on me... each time I replay the game I like her a bit more and after reading The Maiden who travels the Planet & Case of Tifa I really started to appreciate her character and her friendship with Tifa. I just started playing Crisis Core, I haven't gotten to the part where she comes into the story yet, but I'm hoping that when I'm done playing I'll like her even more.
heart she is a very cute character. just not the girl for Cloud.

Aerith represents one of my biggest changes of hearts ever.
I hated her character with passion, I still believe she is a little spoiled and self centered but slowly I started to see the positive things she have.
She is a tragic heroine(I have a soft spot for them) and I think I love her now.It is so sad how she lost everything dear to her(her mother,the love of her life) yet she still had the caring personality I learnt to love.One of my favorite scenes from her is when she appeared in Cloud's dream before going to the forgotten capital, in this scene I thought Aerith started to have motherly feelings for Cloud here she said to him(about Sephiroth and Cloud's behaviour): "Oh... Then, why don't you REALLY worry about it? And let me take care of it myself. So you don't have a breakdown, okay?" sounds like something a loving mother would say.
I also love her theme it is one of the most beautiful themes ever, it never fails to move me as I remember her most memorable moments.
As much as I love Aerith I cannot stand the Clerith pairing, I think it has No base and it's selfish(towards Tifa and Zack's feelings)
