Although he said nothing about it, he too was worried what Abel might say when the male returned home. As much as he enjoyed spending time with Kieran, he wondered just how much longer they could keep on doing this. He was sure Abel must be suspicious of him lurking around. Especially after his failed assassination attempt. Now he was dragging Kieran away from the house for hours on end while the woman who caught them in the act was probably sipping wine and waiting for the perfect moment to tell Abel. He tried his best not to think of such things. It would be too cruel if they had to end things so early for merely being caught.
Jakob was quiet as he sat there watching the world fly by. He could feel Kieran glancing over at him every so often. He didn't say anything about it, he was sure the male had his reasons. Just as he had been clingy earlier. As he sat there he could feel his need for sleep nagging at him. His head tipped to the side and his eyelids were growing heavy. Every time Kieran started to break or took a turn he would force himself to open his eyes. By the time they reached his street, he wanted nothing more than to lay out on the backseat. Unfortunately, he wasn't given such an option. Yawning, he unbuckled his seat belt and started to get out of the car before stopping himself.
Turning back to the male, he leaned over the console and pressed a gentle kiss to his lips. Jakob stole two more before pulling away from him. "Goodnight." he said softly. Pushing open the door, he slipped out of the car. He smiled softly and waved goodbye before turning on his heel. Slowly, Jakob walked the familiar street to Cornelius's house. It took him less than five minutes to reach the correct house, and another thirty seconds to find his keys to unlock the door. Inserting his key, he found that the door was already unlocked. Finding it strange, he pushed inside cautiously. Before he could say anything, one of the older men looked up from his spot on the couch. "Good, you're here. Pack a bag. We leave in thirty minutes."

It did him no good to stress about the what ifs. Kieran knew that the time would come for Abel to find out about Miguel and him. He only hoped however it would be from him, not Addy or anyone else. Kieran pulled up to the curb, knowing Miguel had to leave. He wasn’t to thrilled, but he couldn’t keep Miguel from doing his job, or his own. Kieran watched as Miguel unbuckled himself and moved to get out. He didn’t have to wonder if Miguel would give him a goodnight kiss. Kieran watched as Miguel leaned over the console and kissed him. He returned the kiss, as Miguel kissed him a few times before pulling away to get out of the car. Kieran waved goodbye, watching as Miguel left to head down the street.
Driving back to his house, it only took him another twenty minutes to get there. Kieran pulled up near the curb, as he turned off the car. He glanced toward the house. A few lights were on but not many. Kieran dreaded going inside, but knew he couldn’t stay the whole night in the car. He would eventually get a cramp from trying to sleep there. Kieran turned off the car, slipping out, as he locked the car. He started toward the house, finding the door unlocked as Addy didn’t have keys.
Entering the house, he heard the television on in the living room. Shutting the door and locked it. Kieran walked toward the living room, he saw Addy curled on the couch watching television. He hoped she would have taken one of the guest rooms and gone to sleep but that wasn’t the case. ”Sneaking back in, I thought you might be out longer than a few hours...Did he have to run home before his curfew?” She teased Kieran as she turned off the television.
Kieran rolled his eyes at her, ”He’s not a child, Addy.” He spoke as he walked past her toward the kitchen. Kieran was in no mood to deal with her questioning. He wanted to just take a shower then got to sleep. Kieran had to urge to text Miguel to make sure that he was okay getting home, however he knew it would only seemed weird.
Addy was persistent as she followed Kieran toward the kitchen. ”So tell me, why are you sneaking around with him then, afraid Abel might find out.?” She asked curiously, but with seriousness. Kieran opened the fridge to get a bottle of water listening as Addy spoke. He grabbed a bottle of water shutting the door behind him. Kieran glanced toward Addy, ”He doesn’t need to know every personal detail on my life.” He spoke sighing softly. Kieran knew Miguel didn’t understand his relationship with Abel. However to him Abel was his family, or the closest it came. He did not have anyone else, not family he could speak to.

To come home and find the house abuzz at such a late hour was a surprise to him. He had been hoping he could just slip inside and go upstairs to shower. Instead, he stared at the larger man before him, ordering that he go pack. "I don't get it, what's going on?" he asked seriously. The man gave him a rather annoyed look. He waited as the man sighed and said, "There's been a summons called. The boss and our allies are meeting to discuss business. He wants you to put your current work on hold and come with him as his personal body guard." Before Jakob could answer anything else, the man walked away from him. With nothing else left to say, he headed upstairs.
When reaching the landing, he found things to be just as busy up here as they were downstairs. It would seem that he was not the only one to be invited on this venture. Walking down the hall, he slipped into his bedroom. He thought about texting Kieran. Then again, this seemed like something big. He didn't want to worry the male. Jakob padded towards his closet and pulled out a large black duffel bag. He could feel the weight of the extra weapons he had hidden inside. Two guns, three knives, and a few other fun gizmo's he'd picked up at a local shop. Taking the bag to the bed, he then proceeded to pull out several clothes; casual, formal, nightwear, underwear, you name it. He had no idea what Cornelius was planning by bringing him along, but he wanted to be ready for it nonetheless.
It took him exactly thirty minutes to get ready. His bag was stuff to the brim and ready to go. There was no time to properly explain things to Kieran. At least not without being asked a million questions in return. He knew the man would probably hate him for it, but he was going to have to wait to explain himself until he got back. Jakob turned off his personal cell phone and left it in the top desk drawer. Only to replace it with the cheap ugly phone he used for work. Pocketing the device, he made his way downstairs where the others were waiting. Together, they piled into two black SUV's with dark tinted windows and disappeared into the night.

He did feel bad about not telling Kieran he was leaving. But what was there to say? His only instruction was to pack and make it quick. He couldn't say when he would be back or why he was even going. He felt by telling him, it would only lead to more questions that he couldn't answer. After piling into the SUV, Jakob watched his world fly by. All night long they drove, taking turns until they came to a rest stop three states over. Catching a glance at the clock he could see that it was nearing four in the morning. He wondered what Kieran was doing.
The next two weeks weeks were busy for him. Anywhere that Cornelius went, he was ordered to follow. He sat through long meetings, listened to the old men talk about their days in Germany before the war. While they prattled on in their favored tongues, hardly giving him a second glance. He wondered if they knew that could understand every word. Or was it simply that they did not care. As they days stretched, Jakob hardly cared anymore. He amused himself by thinking up ways to take out the other guards and the boring old men. He tried his best not to think of Kieran. Because every time he did, he missed him even more. It wasn't fair to him how he left things. He hoped he could forgive him when he came back.
Entering the third week, Jakob was irritated with everything. He was tired of being a guard and staying in a hotel. He didn't care about their allies or expanding their territory. On the nights he had to himself, he made his way down to the hotel gym. Other nights he drank. He wished he had wrote down Kieran's number. But there was nothing he could do about it. By the end of the week, he was finally given word that they were leaving. Packing up his things, he piled into the SUV just as he did the night they left. He settled in the back, knowing it would be a long drive home.

By the time he reached home, nearly a month had passed. The house was dark and covered in a thin layer of dust when they arrived. Jakob dragged his tired body up the stairs into his bedroom. He flipped on the lights, and locked the door behind him. Dropping his bag on the floor, he padded over to his desk, and plopped into his chair. Sighing, he took a few minutes to gather himself. It felt so good to no longer be moving, crammed in a car with so many others, and feasting on disgusting roadside foods. Reaching into his desk he pulled out his personal cellphone. Unsurprising to him, he found the device to be completely dead. It couldn't be helped. Plugging in his charger, he proceeded to plug his phone and held down the button to turn it on. Waiting impatiently, he watched the device load.
A few minutes passed and soon the home screen appeared. Almost immediately his phone began to buzz, showing him a growing list. He watched as a wall of missed calls, voicemails, and text messages came rolling in. All of them being from one person. A cold dread sank into the pit of his stomach. <********> he said under his breath. Bringing the device closer, he opened up the texts. He read the various messages. The first few being more casual and just making conversation. He felt guilty as he scrolled down the list of messages. His phone continued to buzz for two minutes straight until at last everything was listed. He knew he had messed up by not contacting him. Then again, he didn't expect Kieran to react like this. It had only been a week that they had known each other.
Biting his lip, Jakob sat there for a few more minutes. The hour was late, but still he felt an overwhelming desire to go to him. He wondered if Kieran would even talk to him. Leaving the dead phone where it was, Jakob pushed himself out of the chair. Late or not, he needed to talk to him. He unlocked his door and turned out the light. Going back downstairs, Jakob hurried out of the door and started in the direction of Abel's house.
