It's called different things by different cultures, but they're all essentially the same thing. Holidays/festivals focused around the dead. And they all pretty much fall on November first and second. All Hallow's, All Saints, Samhain, the Day of the Dead etc x3

Other then it's a completely 3-D movie that Cameron spent billions on developing his own software for?

I've no clue.

Hrm....well then. I didn't think there'd been much said about the movie.

and oooooooh, I though it would have had something more to do with the Saints themselves, venerating one that's specific to you or something.

I believe it's something about aliens and Marines. =P

Erinn: Depends which day of the dead as the Mexican one is 11th May. I only know this because of cheap Corona for like that week. <3 But on the whole, aye you're right.

There was something else I wanted to say to you but can't remember now. ><

Mexico has two parts or something if I remember right, they have events that correspond with November as well, but I dun really know much about it. I don't know much about the Catholic practices either, I'm more into the Gaelic history and influences of Samhain.

@Matt: Well yes, technically, it's a day where Christians commemorate all saints and those thate were sort of saints, even if not officially. But most people don't know and/or don't care.
There is, however, a seperate Christian day to commemorate the dead, at least in Germany, last Sunday before the first advent (Totensonntag...we like to call it "Happy cadaver day").
And there's a day to think of the poor souls of those vanquished in purgatory and the dead in general: All Soul's Day, on November 2nd.

Yeah I just looked it up, you're right Erinn it must be two parts. The first is in May coinciding with Cinco De Mayo. So it's 5th of May, not 11th. The other is around Halloween.

Also lawl happy cadaver day. <3

You see, morbidity is in my blood...it's like a part of heritage...then again, why do I need an excuse for loving morbid and dark things. *back to research*

Oh nothing at all wrong with morbidity and morbid curiousity. I quite like the name. And I agree with Erinn.
