No, I never experienced such a time. Now, I do remember a time when I would say Blue Shells suck, but everyone hates blue shells.

Well, in this game, when you're in first everyone hates you, because you're in first.

Though there aren't any "you are now in last" items. The closest to a blue shell is something that sets three traps in front of first place that slows down anyone who hits them. So good driving lets you escape.

Only the British Prime Minister can win and therefore proclaim the end of the game. You shan't besmirch the good name of the highest office in the United Kingdom!
