themightyjello The Darth Vizzle Need moar multiplayer RPG sometime. This.
All I have is D2, Titan Quest, and Arcanum, and the last cannot be played in multi anymore. I also have Hellgate, but I'm faaaaiiirly certain its multiplayer servers are bunked now, until the new company picks the franchise up.
So, at the moment, I have no idea what other options there are. BG I/II or Icewind Dale, sure, but I'd have to either buy it off Amazon (more likely) or torrent it (not likely, due to my current internet speed). Also unsure about who else has those games.
Could play NWN 2, but you can't play the main campaign in multi, so you'd need to get a good multiplayer campaign.

The Darth Vizzle I don't, because I a) don't have the money and b) haven't done any gaming with you guys in a while. Last time was DoW, and that was before my headset broke. But we just cycle Sins, DoW, and L4D apparently. Need moar multiplayer RPG sometime. All this.
Also, we should get Battlefield 2 going since a lot of us have it.

The Darth Vizzle All I have is D2, Titan Quest, Dunno these two.
Quote: and Arcanum, and the last cannot be played in multi anymore. Downloaded this but haven't tried it. Guess it's a moot point.
Quote: I also have Hellgate, but I'm faaaaiiirly certain its multiplayer servers are bunked now, until the new company picks the franchise up. So it's one of those that needs a dedicated server and we can't rig something up with Hamachi? A few of us have that game and it seemed more RPG than Borderlands.
We all have those, because we just finished attempting to play BG2 to no avail.
Quote: Could play NWN 2, but you can't play the main campaign in multi, so you'd need to get a good multiplayer campaign. I thought that the problem was the main campaign as well... but more or less the game is just bad for multi because of the interface. I'd imagine the servers where they let people go around not in the same party work fine for that, but a few people being in the same party in that game is just annoying to do. The interface is really not made well for multi-player.
Plus it's hard to find any campaign/module that's a decent length and isn't entirely focused on the main character. Believe me, I played like every decent-looking module I could get my hands on.

Diablo II and Titan Quest.
Titan Quest is just a Diablo II clone with better graphics, set in the Ancient World (Greece, Egypt, Mesopotamia, China) with some ragdoll effects and a better class system where you can pick one class, then another at level 8 or 10 (or any point thereon) and sort of mix and match stuff.
I think Cog has Titan Quest, but he wasn't much interested in it. It's just a hack and slash or really straight forward "dungeon crawler" RPG like D2, but with a little broader environments, although I personally like the art a lot. And I can play it, especially with a group of people, I'm sure. Mostly because I ALWAYS play the melee class, and it'd be interesting to see something different.
And Diablo II is.. well, yeah. Played to death, usually. I've gone through it at least a 100 times now.
A friend and I tried to get Arcanum to work about a year ago. I don't think it even has a TCP/IP option, and we couldn't get into each other's games, even though we could host.
I dunno if Hellgate supports TCP/IP play, which is the primary problem with it. If we can't get an RPG game that supports TCP/IP, we're likely screwed, more or less. TCP/IP will let us use Hamachi. If we're playing a newer game, or one with standing server support, we're fine. Usually.
EDIt:: Supposedly Arcanum has some sort of ******** up TCP/IP or Network option, but its functionality is suspect. And you can't go through the main campaign anyways, so it's moot.

Well, I'm on the SWG Emu server, which is Star Wars: Galaxies prior to the CU or NGE changes to gameplay. It's a pretty good game.
I'm just not sure how far along it is, now. If they haven't been hitting updates regularly, people who have never played are going to be screwed because they're just going to go "wat" when they try to play and half the s**t in the game world isn't there yet in terms of NPCs, economy, and stuff like that. Like, if you can't get XP.. you're just going to be ********, end of discussion.
But it's an MMO, and it's free. Probably my favorite MMO, actually. Cog played it too, but I think he had problems getting onto the Emulator server, as did I when I first tried.
The only other idea would be doing like a PnP campaign on Gaia.. but I think we've tried that a couple of times.
Also, bed.
