People who claim the Mayans made that prediction make me rage beyond all belief.

It's a claim, that's all it is.
Some people like to find retarded things like this to say the world is going to end in (whatever year).
Give me facts. I know the moon is pulling farther and farther away from the Earth. I know a meteor is supposed to come very close to impact in some years. I know the sun is growing.

It's not a claim. Not a legitimate one, anyways. It's entirely false. People who say the Mayans said it are wrong; modern archaeology has pretty well shown that, but the rest of the world hasn't really caught up with current archaeology, much like it hasn't with science.

The Mayan calender does not end at 2012. The Mayans did not predict the end of the world at 2012. The longest measurement of time (something like a b'ktan or spelled similarly) on the Mayan calender is roughly 450 years or so, iirc. 2012 is the end of the current b'ktan. Each one of these "epochs" of Mayan time measurement represents an "age" of the world.

The Mayans didn't predict the end of the world at 2012 at all. At most, they predicted the beginning of a new era in time for mankind, and possibly the coming of one of their gods to bless humanity.

We also have records of Mayan calendar dating that is equivalent to our 4000+ AD. We honestly have no idea how far the Mayans recorded their calendar, because they planned in advance with things like astrology and so forth, but they certainly didn't stop at 2012, nor did they predict any sort of apocalypse.
