honestly, i was thinking more fft, but working a disgaea engine where actions could be queued without a target in the panel to set up for action chains would be interesting. brutal.

Just have the main character be nameable/jobbable at the beginning so it can be whoever, and they meet all the established characters at different points.

That way all the established characters can actually be portrayed in the game, since in most RPGs except the recent western ones, the "main" character doesn't get a lot of personality (see: Pokemon, etc.).

doing it disgaea way implies that through the main arena and portal room, one would allow the char to powerlevel... since doing action chains like that would just have the game beaten too easily. and we'd need multiple endings.

Also, I'm not sure how complex the Game Maker program is that Vin is using, but the main character could learn jobs/abilities FROM the established characters.

i'd like to think he learns jobs from the established chars, that give him access to certain skills. you need ____ and ___ to unlock move ___.

meet seung, learn double jump, meet twitch, learn wall fall... unlock fighting technique delta kick.

or something, just pootin' words here.
