Yeah, 2 had almost 60. It's kind of disappointing they've only said "over 30", but maybe their intent is to at least have them all somewhat decently balanced this time around. Plus, with 2's engine, they could just easily keep adding sprites from old games and tweaking their moves to compile a lot of characters, they had to make relatively few brand new ones. In a game like this, everyone has to be built from the ground up.
I just... I dunno. Yeah, fans have been clamoring for an MvC3 for a decade, but I can't imagine ANYONE wanted a 3D looking game with a roster half the size. Yeah, 3D models look pretty damn good now, but it just doesnt play the same... Sure, people will play it just because it's goddamn MvC3, but can it really recapture the magic of it's predecessor?
