Putting something in the past, up against something more futuristic. Basically, we're going to throw a mid evil peasant against a terrorist with a RPG. WHO WILL WIN!?

	That would be so, Rage, except for the fact that they usually get actual experts to analyze each animal in those kinds of shows, since finding an expert on animals for an animal show is probably easier to budget. What pisses me off about the show is that they pretty much get a bunch of "experts", some of them qualified and some of them just absolutely terrible. Then they compare their weapons, sometimes in a mismatched way, and really that's all the show is. They compare weapons between two (usually mismatched) warrior classes, put it into a computer, and produce a "simulation". Whatever they decide was the winner gets made into some dumb end-fight that pretty much plays to Spike TV's target audience that they pass off as being a reconstruction. They include such gems as a ninja attacking someone head on, or a samurai repeatedly striking a shield with a naginata. It's just...gaaahh... I'm particularly reviled about how the Ninja and Samurai "experts" did.

	None of them really bring up jack st for relevant points. They ignore the shield of both the Spartan and the knight in most of the instances it would be important, they do retarded st like give a gladiator several different kinds of weapons when gladiators would only fight with ONE set, based on their "class" or possibly ethnicity, and in general just did not really piece s**t together all that well. They pretty much gave the ninja the short end of the stick in the same way, because ninjas aren't even supposed to attack people head on. The ninja should have been paired against some sort of similar assassin type, such as the hashashin of the Middle East. Of course, the Spartans' shield were OP, so it's not surprising they came out on top in the ancient warriors category. You're talking about a defensive item that can more or less withstand any attack from the ancient world, siege weapons and constant, repeated attacks notwithstanding. I'm not sure any of the other ancient warriors who won or lost would have done very well against the classical Spartan.

	Accurate or not, it just occurred to me. It's a TV station. They want ratings. The hell do they care about historical accuracy as long as the result is entertaining, however skewed it may be?

	I think constantly attacking the Spartan shield is what made it retarded. No Samurai would whack at a wall of metal or wood with a naginata, see that it does nothing, and then repeat. What pissed me off is that they gave the samurai a naginata over a yari, which I think is more common for samurai. Also ridiculous was giving the samurai a kanabo. Hardly any samurai used that in battle. It was a special, rare weapon often associated with oni, and too heavy to be practical without some sort of technique or modificaton to the weapon. They're basically for the same purpose as a zanbatou or nodachi, which would be to attack cavalry horses.

	Slips into the conversation as casually as possible I actually enjoy watching Deadliest Warrior, myself, if only by not taking it seriously at all. In fact, I plan to one day play a drinking game based around the number of times they say "kill shot" in a single episode.
