A Reluctant Killer

"Hehe I make miss Irene feel short!" Bana giggled. Then Bana stopped and tilted head thinking, "Wait, is that a good or a bad thing?" Bana asked 'I think its good but is it good for humans?' Bana thought while looking up at the trees trying to figure it out. 'Maybe if I spent more time with living beings this would be common knowledge'

Both Yuki and Niko stiffened slightly when she said that. Yuki held back a soft sigh. And things had been going so well too. She could sense others approaching, and from the way Niko glanced quickly to one side she could see that he knew where they were too. "There can't be any bloodshed," Yuki said, her voice just as quiet and her lips not even appearing to move. "Myself and Niko can help you fight them off. Niko, you know spells that won't cause any bloodshed, right?"

Niko gave a slight nod. He didn't glance at the area around them again, in case the bandits realized they had been spotted. He was nervous, feeling Shadow stir slightly at the hint of a fight. He was still slightly weakened by Yuki's spell, but if there was bloodshed he would still be able to come back out. Niko glanced down at the ground, wondering how to keep Bana safe.

Niko nodded slightly. "Alright..." He gently lowered Bana off his shoulders, setting her back on the ground. He took a small breath, trying to keep calm. As long as no blood was spilt, it would be okay. He saw Yuki wander to the side of their group, so that Bana was in the middle with Niko.

Bana looked around at everyone wondering what was so scary about a couple of bandits but sensed that it was probably who she was traveling with that was the real danger at the moment. Bana started feeling unnerved by the sudden chilliness amongst the group and gripped Niko's pantleg while looking around at everyone.

((Bwahaha! Day of the mule! whee )) Mariah hid deep in the shadows of the trees. Mariah knew each intention, and smirked. Niko's mind however admittingly worried her. She signaled, 'no blood' to the other two bandits. They were confused about her command, but had no choice but to agree. She then signaled the two other bandits to go. It was now time. Two male bandits, one very muscular and another who ooked nimble and good-looking appeared in front of them. The muscular one moved first, aiming to get Irene. At that point it should have been obvious that what Mariah was after was Irene's necklace.

Niko looked from one bandit to the other, then stepped forward. "Bana, stay behind me," He said quietly, joining his hands together in front of him. His palms glowed a soft white, and when he drew his hands apart slowly, a thin beamlike energy grew between his palms. He took another step forward, watching the second bandit warily.

Yuki frowned, watching the whole thing. Not all the bandits had appeared yet. She stepped away from the group, to the side and going off into the trees. Her mare stepped backwards, away from the fight, but didn't flee.

Bana nodded looking at Niko then turned around and hid next to the horse not wanting to get in the way of everyones fight. Then looked back over to the two bandits seeming to be focusing mainly on Irene. "Bad ugly bandits! Stop picking on Miss Irene!" Bana yelled toward them being sure to have a good chance to run if one of them took the insult to personally.

The second bandit charged for Bana. He figured if he could get rid of the people with Irene then they would have an easier time getting to the necklace. At the same time the first one took out a brawny sword and ran to Irene. He knew Mariah said no blood, but he had a short fuse and was very angry. This angered Mariah more as she watched intently on the other's moves. 'He better not shed blood.' She thought.

Bana saw the second bandit charge towards her and took off running into the trees at a high speed. 'Ooopsy. Guess that wasnt the best thing to say,' Bana thought as ran past trees trying to get more distance between her and the bandit. 'Maybe he will give up or get tired,' Bana thought glancing back to see if he followed.

The bandit after Bana seemed to have disappeared, when really he went around in silence and was now right in the direction she was going. The bandit was very fast, and he figured he was far enough from the others to rid the girl with blodshed.

The second bandit with the others was soon trapped with the vines. He realised after trying to pull the vines she was as strong as Mariah. Mariah didn't care for the trapped bandit, this was her chance to get the necklace. Mariah used the power of the wind to attempt to pull the necklace from Irene's neck without detection.
