Shiro's attempt at IC writing... a.k.a. WHATTHESTUPID?!!11uno scream
11:37 P.M. Ground Floor, G.A.S.O.C. H.Q. Compound Except for the usual sound of the coffee pot whistling as it reached past it's boiling point, tonight the household was unusally silent. Lang had long gone to resume her target practice, stating with a seemingly tired, yet grimly odd tone in her voice that shooting cardboard men makes her not want to kill fluffy and cute things laying around. Nyome was nowhere around when she said this, but Shiro and Memai had looked at her surprised and bewildered at the thought. Memai also had gone off to the gym with the excuse that AD was waiting for her and Iyou there for "additional training." Akahoshi was locked in the basement, as usual... running codes after never-ending codes of programming language; nearing the breakthrough of the new biometric security and deployment feature she and Shiro had been working for months on end. The kitchen was deserted, except for Shiro, who was tinkering with the settings of a cellphone he had.
After satisfactorily changing the preferences of the cellphone to his needs, he got up from the chair he was sitting in and went off to pour himself some coffee. Midway through the second swig, the cellphone started humming along the table; it's vibration feature at work. Shiro hastily picked it up and answered it with a whispered "who is this?" , apparently not wanting to attract attention to himself, even in the household. What followed was a sudden gasp followed by Shiro's face now contorted into what appeared as surprise and incredulity....
After about two minutes, Shiro slowly pulled the cellphone away from his ear and let his hand drop to his leg. In almost zombielike fashion, Shiro started stepping slowly away from the kitchen and into the foyer with precarious steps, almost as if his mere footsteps would make the floorboards break under his weight. after reaching the staircase, he bumped into the railing and lt the cellphone fall to the floor.... at which time he started gaining momentum and began racing towards his room. Several minutes afterwards the roar of an engine revving up was heard on the western garage, then a squeal of the tires as they peeled on the floor and onto the pavement running down to the entrance and out to the street.
Iyou and Memai where walking, if not almost limping back from their exhaustive training with A.D. which had ended for the night just a few minutes past 2 A.M. As they walked up to the staircase Iyou groaned "damn... can't AD ever take it
slightly easy on us? Seriously, my butt's hurting from taking so many falls." to which Memai replied in an almost similar fashion "It was either that or Langley... and you know how PMSy Langley was tonight."
"Yeah, well target practice
isn't and
shouldn't be so demanding."
"since when are you so Lazy, Iyou?"
"Let me see... Since about three hours ago, when A.D. cracked two of my ribs with her spinning kick?"
"So? It's not like training's supposed to be easy."
"Oh hush you... it's not like I can eat a bullet like you and still fight"
Stopping in her tracks, Memai seems surprised and retorts back -"Well? we're no superhumans either, but we can sure take a beating!" Memai chirped
"And give one back..." Iyou suddenly stopped near the staircase and crouched over to pick up a forgotten cellphone. Memai hadn't been paying attention and had carried on talking -"I know! I mean, take for example Shiro. He's the only male among us, yet he's maybe one of the weakest members. I mean, it's not like me to gloat over something so trivial as being stronger than a much older male at my age, but the thought of it is rather puzzling." The cellphone in Iyou's hands began ringing.
"Memai... can you hold on a sec?"
-"I mean come on! it's almost as if he's always asking for trouble with AD and Akahoshi."
"Memai! I'm serious!"
"...what is it?"
Answering it, Iyou suddenly heard the desperate voice of a young man through the phone. "Shiro? can you hear me?!"
"Shiro's not here, I'm his"-
"Where is he?!"
"I don't"-
"He was supposed to be here an hour ago!! Damn that bro-" *BOOM*
"Hey! you there?!"
"Who was it, Iyou?"
"Damn..." Iyou gave up on the cellphone "I don't know, but whoever it was, he was looking for Shiro."
"Who was looking for Shiro?" Nyome appeared at the top of the stairs.
"Nyome!"
"I don't know, Nyome.... have you seen Shiro?"
Hesitant to answer, Nyome finally said "He took off a while ago."
Iyou and Memai looked at each other quizzically, then Iyou asked Nyome "Do you know where he was headed?"
"No... but he looked depressed... and in a hurry."
"What the hell is going on here?!" asked Memai, already stressed out.
"I don't know... but until we hear from Shiro, we might have a situation here" "What do you mean?" interjected Memai.
"When I was talking to that guy, I heard a gunshot and the signal went down. And if Shiro's headed that way..."
Realization striking Memai square in the face, she states out loud "Shiro might be headed for an ambush!! damnit!"
Nyome, now visibly stressed urged the two "What do we do now?!" Iyou took control of the situation and started barking orders. "Memai, go get Lang from the armory and have us meet in the briefing room. Nyome, go get Akahoshi and tell her to pull up the logs of whomever has entered and/or left the compound in the last four hours. "
"What will you do, Iyou?"
"I'll go get A.D. ... and with any luck she won't crack any more of my ribs for the time being. At least not until we figure what's going on"
