GAH! Those four artists were nothing but teenaged girls drawing mahou-shojou styled stuff (save for one, though...she did awesome potraits without references O_o; wink . And one of these artists was a 14 year old girl from Indonesia who drew the typical "look I'm so shiney, cute and pretty! Look at my huge eyes and tiny mouth! I'm the cutest Naruto evah!!" type of art. Many people oogled over this and faved all of her works like MAD! And in all of the works she posted, regardless how intricate the design or how painstickingly long it took her, she would always include, "aish! I'm so stupid, I dunno what I drew. Plz excuse the stupid-ness of this stupid thing, yeah?"

I personally hate artists who say their art is worthless (trust me, I've been through there, and I found it's not good critisizing yourself. If you keep saying you suck, how the hell can you advance and make your works better, hmm?). Really. Stop saying your art sucks O_o;; You should be proud you're able to create a fathomable human being (and other things)! Seriously, if you can't say anything else aside from 'I'm stupid, my art's stupid...' in your OWN description of YOUR art...then you are, indeed, very, very stupid. I'm saying this because all of her artwork is fully CG'd, and coloured professionally.

But say if you don't know how to draw a certain thing or how a certain body part bends or looks, you could just say, "Yeah, I realized most of the anatomy is a little off, and the colouring is a little lame, but I guess it's alright." Jeez people. Stop fishing for praises, please surprised

And for the next artsy rant...

Now, first and foremost, before all of you jump on me and rip my hair out and sacrife my eyeballs in a ritualistic dance to a god, please...I just want to let y'all know I hold no grudge against people who like this said 'art style' or some such...right, moving on...

I find many girls my age (13-16 yrs) around DA to have such a soft spot for the run-of-the-mill mahou-shojou styled artwork. Of course, they all must have some SasuNaru type of pairing in their gallery or Harry and Draco holding hands and looking like a couple of gay twits (Harry is straight, Draco is straight. They shouldn't be holding hands and blushing >_>; They hate each other's guts anyway!). I find this style to be...the 'pop music' of the art world, namely under the anime/manga category.

Now, I know, I know; girls make up the majority of the art realm, and they love these cute shiney art styles, so I really can't blame them that they combine these two things together and spam it all over cyberspace.

It's just that...EVERYONE wants to draw like Clamp or Koge Donbo. Everyone wants to have a wonderful princess character with frills and laces and ribbons and the typical blonde hair/blue eyes with the even more generic name like 'Sakura' or 'Yume' or 'Yukisora'. I can draw a headshot of a lovely princess and no one will notice it, save for friends or those who are curious. But the one that will get an instant fave or a DD (Daily Deviation) or 1000+ comments would be a headshot of a lovely priness in a mahou-shojou style.

Gah~ Maybe I'm just being an attention-whore? No one really does come by my page, save for me checking on my messages or friends. But that's pretty much it. And I find these once-unknown teen girls putting up their cutesy art and in about the span of 5 seconds, they're known throughout art sites.

I hate myself for being so original. But then again, if I were to draw like all those other girls...Celia's adorable-ness would be lost, because hey, the art style makes her cute, so her personality wouldn't really matter. Ean wouldn't look imp-ish. Heaven forbid. Mahou-shojou styled art wouldn't let girls have smaller eyes. Gah! Ares wouldn't even look terrifyingly beautiful at ALL! People would just go, "Aww lol! So cute <3"

Meep...maybe I should just switch over to that style and be done with it -_-;; After all, my art style's not that appreciated after all...I mean, who cares if you're art styles original in the manga/comic world? So as long as you draw like the others, I'll be able to make it big, right? DX

I think I might take that little 'experiment' a friend told me to do...draw my characters like so: on one side I would draw 'xxx' character as I normally would, on the other side I draw the character in a shojou style and see if they come off the same...think I'll do that right now xd

In other words, Memai, I agree completely. I went through a similar experience when talking to a fellow artist in fishing. She was starting up a shop and asked me to look at her stuff and when I asked her to do the same and why I wasn't selling anything, evidently my art doesn't even fit the profile of what Gaians want (not anime -_-).

Plus the fact that out of my 29 dA watchers, about 4 of them bother to come back.

But definitely don't switch styles. All sexiness is lost in translation, she looks about 10 years younger, and the lack of nose ot that degree actually makes it look kinda disturbing. And the schoolgirl uniform. And the hearts. And the pink. And just ick.

I feel old T.T and no worries, you're like me, I usually hang around GASOC during holidays, the rest odf the semester I kinda pop off Gaia completely. But it's good to know there's a place to go back to whenever I get back on biggrin and that makes me happy.

I feel old.ER. gonk and really, Calculus is easy, is just that I'm bad right down the core, I'm bad at resolving simple polynomes, which should be something I learned at Algebra. But Calculus is easy really, just weird symbols representing a bunch of steps, thats it.

AD - I need a car too xd been using mom's car and I travel like 80 miles everyday to go back and forth to Uni. and she's pissed. I would use my money to shop too, especially for clothes biggrin I also wanted a laptop but since every christmas I never got one I just gave up D: but, don't give up you!

and squash scares me :S

Hoshi-san: glad to see you razz but not so good to know your life is just going. that sounds like you are just worried about living the current day, unless thats what you really want.

Buh, many of my DA watchers are mainly just friends, fans and some local artists (of the shojou-kind, unsurprisingly)...hurh, and they really don't leave much of a comment DX Which really disheartens me~

I tried this experiment out with a bunch of other characters...needless to say, my friend came on and saw my progress with my 'hoshit I bring doom to you!' goddess character and she was all like, "Wait...you're telling me she's supposed to be terrifying? Yeah, whenever our teacher doesn't fully explain something he always tells me that's in calculus. So that could either be good or bad. More work, but maybe good because I hate doing things without knowing exactly how they work. Like logs. I hate logs. Ick.
