The Dog Whisperer: Cruel?

I've seen articles claiming that Cesar Millan uses brutal and dangerous techniques with dogs, which said that could only solve problems temporarily in an unhealthy way.

That just makes me laugh. Of course, that's why he's always got a big pack of dogs with him that listen perfectly... Fun thing: The site that bashed him the most said it offered tips to help dogs. What the link brought me to? Advertisment for their books, absolutely no help. They only suggest more than a dozen books "that I ought to buy if I want to care well for my dog". I use things likely to Cesar, and my dog is perfectly healthy and happy. Most of the books were on clicker training... Which I don't particularly like. Why? It makes me feel like my dog will never obey because it sees me as the leader, but because it wants food. I've always wondered if you stopped giving treats for months... Will the dog still listen? I've never known anyone that used it long enough for that, so I'm curious. =D;;

People take things out of context so many times and this is a great example. Ceaser is great with dogs, he knows how a pack structure works and uses the tools given to him. The "red zone" cases he takes on are dogs that are almost or are to far gone and need that rehabilitation. These dogs are loose cannons, and for a few seconds they will flip out which to some people it looks like ceaser is hurting the dog. In reality, he's not. He's just letting the dog cool down, and then he continues with what he was doing. He lives in the now and dogs should also. Ceaser is what the public needs. There are to many unkowledgable people owning dogs, he's like the savior for dogs.

Omg I have seen that site and it is stupid, they just averdtise there website, lol ceaser uses all good tricks with dogs lol. People r so desperate they will sabbatoge people.

It's like the show "It's Me or the Dog" with that lady (veronica??). People think she's too bossy and mean to the dogs verbally. There's no pleasing these people. She's an amazing trainer as well in my opinion. Especially for owners who wish to use gentler and more verbal/auditory measures.

I think too many people view their dog as their child, though when you think about, don't people tell their children no when they do something wrong? Why should a dog be any different?

If your dog is already well-mannered, that's great. If it's not, both Cesar and Veronica have some great methods that anyone can try on their dogs. Of course, not all dogs will respond well to their methods, so it's always good to do plenty of research and find reputable trainers should the need arise.

ditto. U know that boxer Zulu that was on one of the episodes. Well I know the owner Mel. Shes on the boxer forums and we started a topic about its me or the dog and she said Victoria was great and when the animals didn't feel lie being bothered or they started to get stressed she wouldn't let them continue filming
