dragon3025 Zephyrkitty dragon3025 I need to find some more. The only anime I'm really watching right now is Bleach, and it's pausing it's new episodes for more dubbing. What type of shows are you looking for? I'm not sure. I guess shows like bleach, ghost in the shell, full metal alchemist, mai hime, or code geass. Wow, I totally forgot I have a funimation channel now. I wonder what they have on it.
For the record, I'm not sticking to obscure stuff. Sorry.
Bleach and FMA are both shounen series. Unfortunately, I generally stay away from the genre, and shounen in general is pretty popular, so I'm not sure how much I can help there. D. Gray-Man and Soul Eater are about the most recent shounen series I can think of, but I haven't gotten very far in the former and haven't touched the latter.
Code Geass... Light and Lelouch are similar, so maybe Death Note? CG switches between being a mecha and a harem series quite a bit as well, so look into those genres? Other series directed by Goro Taniguchi might also be worth checking out.
Ghost in the Shell? Serial Experiments Lain is similar in some ways, but definitely more of a mind screw. Kino's Journey is also thought-provoking and has a strong female lead, although there's not much they have in common otherwise. XD
I haven't watched Mai-Hime yet, so I can't recommend anything there.
Not related to anything you listed, but stuff I like and feel obligated to recommend:

- Baccano!
- Haibane Renmei
- Aoi Hana
- Simoun
- Revolutionary Girl Utena
- Monster
- Anything by Satoshi Kon
