This an example DBF topic to show what it looks like.
In this first post you put the two warring pirate crews. Notice I say pirates, which means the Navy can not compete.
Anyway, whoever created the topic puts the name of the crews, and the crew members.

Then you start role playing. I will play as the challenger, and BarnOwl6-5 will be the challenged. Keep in mind that you should play it out realistically. Don't suddenly make an imaginary crew member get in the way for a come from behind victory. If your chacter is less skillful, don't suddenly make them awesome.

After the two captains decided the events, Example pulled Pirate 1 and Pirate 2 aside.
"Make sure you win," he growled to them.
"Aye, captain," they said.
