Wherever Abel had run off to he hoped it was nearby. He didn't want to worry all afternoon and all night that he was off alone or lost somewhere in the city. Not only that but he wanted a chance to talk again. He wasn't sure if he would be sticking around for very much longer. But he didn't want to miss his chance to say his goodbyes. The thought of saying goodbye to them both was sad. They had only just gotten here and already it was likely they would be leaving. So much had happened in only a day, it felt surreal. So many emotions, so many words, soon he would be all alone again. He wasn't sure if he was ready. What choice did he have though, he couldn't keep them here forever. They had to keep on living.
Clinging to Kieran he was so afraid to let go, but he knew he had to. He reminded himself of what Kieran had said. It wouldn't be a permanent goodbye, not this time. Pulling back, he smiled as he told him that he loved him. He watched Kieran smile back as he repeated the words. <********, I'm gonna cry again." he said as his eyes began to well. Wiping at the corners, he tried to the tears before they could drop. He smiled sadly, embarrassed by what a mess he was. He took a moment or two to collect himself. His cheeks glowed red and his eyes were shining with tears. "Sorry, I'm not always this weepy."

Jakob tried not to be too upset about Kieran leaving. He just needed to remember that this wouldn't be forever and they would meet again. Maybe not anytime soon, but eventually. He had put a good fight, tried everything he could think of to convince him to stay. It just wasn't enough. As Kieran repeated the words he found himself getting emotional again. He quickly swiped the tears away and apologized. Kieran assured him otherwise and Jakob nodded. Swallowing hard, he sniffled.
He didn't want to worry Kieran anymore than he had already. "I think this is the part where I'm supposed to get dressed and leave." he said as another tear slid down his cheek. Jakob sat there another minute not wanting to get up. Sniffling again, he nodded before rising out of Kieran's lap, and swinging his legs over the side of the bed.
He picked up his pants from the end of the bed and slipped his legs into the holes, standing to pull them over his hips. He then patted the pockets, making sure his phone, keys, and wallet were still there. All that was left were his shoes. Turning his attention to Kieran he hesitated. "It's not forever, right? You'll visit, I'll visit, maybe one of us will pop in for a birthday or a holiday. And you'll call or text... I do get your new number?" he asked. He wanted to be sure of these things before he left. Such questions would haunt him if he didn't ask.

Indeed he couldn’t stay, if he stayed he would never leave. He didn’t know if Kieran would stay the rest of his trip. He hoped that he would, but also understood if he had things waiting for him back in Chicago. Jakob had things too. There was work tomorrow, another busy night at the pub. Maybe he would see Kieran there, that would be nice. But he wouldn’t put his hopes up. When Kieran went home he hoped that he could find something or someone to keep him occupied. He didn’t want him to cause trouble like before or bottle everything up.
Knowing that it was his turn to leave Jakob slipped off the bed and began to dress. He felt Kieran’s eyes on him, watching ever so intently. After pulling on his pants, Jakob turned and questioned him. The idea of spending a birthday or holiday together intrigued him. Somehow in their entire relationship they had missed out on both of those. He’d like to give it a try and maybe with Abel too. They could be one big, happy Thanksgiving or Christmas trio. He’d even bring them souvenirs. He smiled as the man confirmed that they would be together again.
Not wanting to leave without a means of contacting Kieran, Jakob asked him about his new number. He watched him shift on the bed and grab his pants from the floor. He couldn’t help being a little nostalgic for the first time they exchanged numbers. It was a lot like this; they were in a hotel room and Jakob was an emotional mess. He took the device as it was handed to him. Tapping at the screen he added in his own number, making sure to include the city and country codes. Like the first time, he labeled himself as Jakob. He didn’t know if Kieran would keep the label or change it like he had before. He wouldn’t mind it if Kieran kept the old nickname, at least for nostalgia sake. ”There, all set.” he said, saving the listing and returning the device.
