Halloween Survey 2025 Introduction:
Halloween is my Birthday and my favorite Holiday. On my birthdays as a kid I got Candy, got to dress up in a costume, and went "Trick or Treating". I Passed Out Candy to all of the kids that came to my door after I came back home from "Trick or Treating". As a tradition when I couldn't go "Trick or Treating” because I was too old (12 or 13 years old was the typical limit), I passed out all of candy to the kids and teens who came to the door at my parents’ house. I Loved seeing all of the kids coming up to the door and seeing what their costumes where. Decades later that Love of checking out costumes changed to checking out and taking photos of Cosplayers. On top of all that I had a Birthday Party each year and some where even Costume parties.
“Trick or Treating” is a special activity where you, your friends, and or family get together on Halloween Night. This activity is usually for kids and teens only with parents sometimes tagging along for safety. You would dress up in a costume, grabbed a big bag and then walked down the streets in the neighborhood with your group. At each house with a porch light lit you would walk up to the door and either knock or ring the doorbell. Then everyone would yell. “Trick or Treat”. Most of the time a person inside would give everyone either candy or some other item. Getting something is called a Treat. A Trick you can do if you got no treat at someone’s house and or play a prank on them. I personally did not do a Trick because I went to friends homes or neighbors I knew. The bigger the bag the more stuff you can get!! Costumes varied from store bought to hand made. I went “Trick or Treating” back in the 70’s and 80’s. My friends and I had a great time back then dressing up and wondering what we would get.

2. Their will also be Gold prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Place Winners
3. At the end of each question answer Yes or No. Feel free to add comments and or short stories that relate to each question. Their will be a special prize for the best comment.
Note: Some Questions will require a short answer instead of a yes or no. A comment can still be added.

1. Have you ever Trick or Treated = Yes, but it was VERY long ago!
2. What’s your favorite candy or item you got during Trick or Treating = Chocolate
3. Went to a Trunk or Treat Party / Event (Note: Typically done at a school or church) = Only as an adult
4. Favorite Costume that you dressed up as for Trick or Treating = costumes using my dance costumes
5. Went to a kids Halloween Party = Maybe? Probably as adult chaperone.
6. Attended an Adult Halloween Party = Yes
7. Favorite Costume that you wore at an Adult Halloween Party = Fairy (I have this gorgeous set of fairy wings!)
8. Dunked for Apples and or had Candied Apples = yes, but the candied apples are (slightly) easier for me to eat.
9. Participated in a Work or School Halloween Party = I teach and my school has Trunk or Treat. Does that count?

2. What’s your favorite candy or item you got during Trick or Treating - I like the real thick Tootsie rolls, and Milky Ways
3. Went to a Trunk or Treat Party / Event (Note: Typically done at a school or church) - No, I understand why some people like churches or unsafe communities do it, but other than that I think Trunk or Treat is destroying the spirit of Halloween
4. Favorite Costume that you dressed up as for Trick or Treating - I did a Rowena Ravenclaw in like 2012? That I liked a lot
5. Went to a kids Halloween Party - Nooo, I was the left out kid and never got invited to anything.
6. Attended an Adult Halloween Party - ...I'm now the left out adult who's never invited to anythingl

8. Dunked for Apples and or had Candied Apples - Never dunked but I've had and made candied apples. I think they're just alright. Caramel apples with chopped nuts are superior

1. Have you ever Trick or Treated – Yes for many years. Lots of wonderful memories.
2. What’s your favorite candy or item you got during Trick or Treating – Either Snickers or Kit Kat
3. Went to a Trunk or Treat Party / Event (Note: Typically done at a school or church) – No, They started after my Trick or Treat years. I saw it as a safe but not as fun activity (No offense to anyone)
4. Favorite Costume that you dressed up as for Trick or Treating – For my 10th birthday my Mom made me a Robot costume made out of boxes. She painted it grey and added on the front that it was my birthday.
5. Went to a kids Halloween Party – Easy answer. I went to my own Halloween Costume birthday parties and at school each year.

Yes of course. Who hasn't.

Nothing super fancy, but who doesn't like a full-size candy bar.

Yes, growing up in a religious household, we did go trunk-er-treating.
4. Favorite Costume that you dressed up as for Trick or Treating.
I did Meg from Hercules a couple of years in a row, but hey, she's cool.

Yup.

Haven't in a while, but yes. When the opportunity arises.

Frodo from Lord of the Rings. Everyone loves a true shorty in the costume.

Both. There's even a food truck where I live that specializes in candied apples.

Yup. I also regularly dress up for work.

In the western US we call them the Pumpkin Patch. If I do go It's with my friends now, but every year as a kid.
