To Vehemence God and Minsova:

First off, Vehemence God, getting on to the military post in a time of high alert would be near impossible unless you have enough firepower on your side to take out 15-20 trained guards. Second, if you knew anything about the military you would know that they don't exactly use high tech holding areas. The army is actually very low-tech. But that doesn't mean that you wouldn't die before you found the location of the equipment you were looking for. Third, experimental weapons and armor are usually not even seen by actual military soldiers until a Major General or CSM gives the okay and states that the weapon or armor is tactical and would not offer any hinderance to the soldier using it. Fourth, Nano technology is being looked into by the U.S. Army, but as for armor using this technology- they haven't even come close to actually manufacturing this kind of equipment for even experimental use. Fifthly, Dragon Skin is not that great. This armor is great if you want it to fall apart in your untrained hands. Soldiers that do have this armor are Special Forces and more elite and even they have to take a whole day course on how to properly maintain this armor and even then the only thing Dragon Skin can stop is low calibur ammunition. Trust me, I used to be in the Army.

If there was an outbreak to occur, it would most likely hit a military installation first as the installation and the area around it are highly populated. If there was any of these nanites before, they're all offline and can't be booted up without the proper software and power supply. In such a case, there would be no power supply and the likeliness that you'd be able to recover the proper software would be nilch because they would have wiped all the computers and probably destroyed them.

As for weapons and ammo, they are kept on opposite sides of the post under strict supervision. Even though there hasn't been a war or big conflict on American soil since the Civil War they do have an S.O.P. in case something were to happen. The likeliness that they have an S.O.P. for a zombie outbreak is nilch although if one were to happen they could use an S.O.P. from a chemical outbreak scenario and modify it as they went along. And the only thing that would be on the military's mind: Containment. If they couldn't isolate the epidemic, then its termination.

Minsova,

I like that you thought realistically at first. The chances, though, of finding someone skilled enough and willing to infiltrate a military base....not very likely. You'd have better luck finding a zombie couple mating.

As for armor that would realistically hold up against a zombie bite....no one knows. Zombies are just a figment of the human imagination. But if I had to suggest something readily available it would be leather. While some leather can be difficult to move in, once you oil it it really isn't that hard to move in. Not only that but it can resist most dog bites from penetrating skin, but it won't stop the bite from breaking bone. The likeliness that you can find tactical, full body armor is very slim. Most body armor is meant to protect the torso from gunshots. Even a kevlar helmet isn't really meant to STOP a bullet, it's meant to cause the bullet to graze and slide off. I've actually seen a bullet penetrate a kevlar helmet.

So, realistically speaking, if a zombie outbreak were to happen, its best to find high ground and an easily defendable, fortified structure to hole up in and wait for either everything to blow over....or your death...whichever comes first. xd Leave zombie killing to the professionals and have a nice day! biggrin

Ok, lets use LOGIC here. If only the elite were allowed to use Dragon Skin, why would it be weak, they are in the most danger. Also, during the tests, Dragon skin stopped INCENDIARY ROUNDS.... and Kevlar is really only tear resistant, it can stop low caliber weapons and knives, that is really about it.
Also, have some Imagination, the CIA classified weapons division has much more than people give them credit for.

Chainmail or leather. Something a human couldn't bite through.

Also, @ Vehemence God
The dragon skin armor is ineffective because the adhesive that holds the scales together has been known to melt and the scales slide down.
