Pocky is hardly a new creation. "The first pockies came out in the 1960s. The original name of Pocky was actually "CHOCO-TEK". In the commercial for Choco-tek, the sound "pocky-pocky" was used as the sound of eating the snack. This sound (apparently) can be used for any long, breakable type of food. It's one of the bizarre group of onomatopoeic double-words used in Japanese. So the name "Pocky" kind of caught on from there.
I had read that somewhere long ago... And... I'm closing this thread... Mystery solved... I may delete it later... There shouldn't have been a new thread created for something that could have been in the discussed in Pocky Hangout...
