Ow, om my god it hurt. Kat winced and whined, her eyes nearly with tears from the pain, she shouldn't have gone out to the water hole today, too much stress on her was making this pain..or was it? Another movement, another aching pain that shot through her like lightning through the sky. Curling up into a ball she had her back against a wall in the den to keep her cool, she felt like she was aflame.
What did this mean? Oh! She should've gone to see Ai's mother to ask about things, now she was all alone, Ai went...somewhere, owww, it hurt.
"Ai?" she said, drolling out his name, calling out of hte den. Was he close by? She prayed so, she should've have said she was hungry earlier, maybe he went to go get her somehting, or went to see his mother...oh god, what would his mother say?
"Oww..." she hissed, breathing through her teeth, curled up, tail around her, stomach aching like never before. Was it time, was it? It hurt so bad...

Ai had gone off hunting for a bit, seeing as Kat had developed the appetite from WHO KNEW WHERE, and had actually been in the process of dragging the kill in when he heard Kat calling for him, his head perking up a bit, before he chuckled a bit, figuring she was sibling -hungry- and continued to drag the beast in, until he got to the mouth of their den, which he'd opened up a lot more than he'd expected (or planned) to in the time coming from the pairs 'OGOD' fest upon the realization that they would be parents and no-

Oh god.
Ai had dropped everything he was doing to turn from his task to rush to his mate's side, wondering WHAT ON EARTH was going on, nuzzling Kat gently. "W-what's happening?" he asked, seeming -more- than freaked out for a man who was about to become a father..
BUT HE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT THAT CONSISTED OF BESIDES THERE SUDDENLY BEING BABIES!
Was she dying? Oh god, oh god.. what to do, what to do.. um..HE KNEW!
"I'll um....s**t.... " he took a deep breath before suddenly bellowing; "MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!"
When in doubt, call 'mom' out!

Ahh, the life of a matriarch and mother of ten, never a dull moment, unless your children have all gone off to play and you've managed to avoid visitors for the day. Now, if only her mate were about these days, but he had some things he needed to take care of. It left her here on her own with their recent litter, but she had their older sister Xu, brothers Jing and Ai to help now and then so, it wasn't all that bad looking after the four.
When she had finally found a moment to rest, jade eyes hid away behind dark eyelids. She was just so tired, after a full night of keeping her children company when they couldn't sleep. She had just started dozing into that beautiful state of slumber when the sound of terror broke her peace. Ausi actually bristled, full body, and startled off of the floor a half an inch as she jumped to her paws, all four splayed wide in alert panic. Eyes wide, she whipped her head first one way and then the other, one of her sons had just screamed, which-- Ai? Had something happened to Kat?!
Luckily their dens were practically side by side, and the emergency sprint was a short one as Ausi stumbled over the abandoned kill, still shaken by her son's alarm. "Ai!! What's wrong?! Kat, are you alright?"
She didn't smell blood, besides the kill outside the den that was, and her brain struggled to catch up with what she was seeing now. Oh, gods, thank the stars. It looked like Kat was only going into labor, but she waited to hear what Kat had to say first, hurrying further inside.

"I dunno..." Kat said hurriedly, in a whisper, her breath rasped from the pain that was over sweeping her. Never had she felt such pain like this, not even when she had been attacked by that black god. Was she dying? What about the cubs, was this supposed to happen? Oh god it hurt... When Kat heard Ai calll out for his mother she knew it was the best thing, Kat figured Ausi wouldn't hate her...least she hoped not, but she had never known any specifics about the birthing process...she only had heard scary stories of mothers and cubs dying together.
She winced and whined softly on pain, putting a paw over her face, curling up tighter then having to let loose, he stomach was too big for her to curl up in such a manner.
When Kat heard Ausi's voice a wave of relief hit her the same time another pain shot through her, "I-its hurts..." was all she could manage to say that made sense, it was obvious she wasn't sure what to do or think, she was so new to this. "Please stay..." she whispered, to both Ai and Ausi...Kat didn't want to be alone.

Ai had definately not been desensitized to the process of childbirth, as, for anybody around to see, Ai had attempted to back up into a corner as far as possible with a look of horror on his face. Afterall, he was freaked out on a level beyond imagine.
WHAT IF SHE WAS DYING? WHAT IF IT WASN'T BABIES BUT CANCER OF THE.. um.. STOMACH THAT MADE MADE HER FAT? WHAT IF WHAT IF WHAT IF?
It was definately a swirl of traumatic emotions driving him practically into and up the den-wall, even with his mother's presence which seemed to be calm, signaling that all was still well and that Ai didn't need to be a spazz-attack of doom and death.
Heck, spazzing horrifically wasn't exactly in his character.
BUT THIS WAS AN ABNORMAL CIRCUMSTANCE.
Even without Kat asking, it probably wouldn't have been possible to Ai to leave, he was freaking out too badly, his mother would maul him if he tried, and he wanted to know what was going on!
Y'know.. around his panic-attack over there in the corner where he'd probably just be useless.

"It's alright Kat, you're going to be fine," Ausi relaxed gradually, but quickly closed their distance, brushing her head against Kat's in a reassuring manner, then settled down behind her to offer support. "Just focus on staying calm, and-- Ai! Calm down, please!" She paused to quip sharply to her son, hoping it might snap some form of calm into him. "... and breathing. It's only the cubs, I promise you'll all be fine."

Kat didn't see Ai back up, and didn't see his panicked expression, her eyes were closed while she writhed in strange emotion and pain, what would she do, what would she do?! She was panicking internally though when Ausi's head graced her own she calmed a bit and tried to slow her breathing.
She was trying, but it'd be so soon, so soon...
"I just...want them to be...aalright I don't want...them to..." she didn't finish...she didn't even want to say it.

Deep Breathes basically referred to all present, even Ai taking a moment to take a couple deep breathes to force himself to calm down..
before his mind popped the question of if he were to breathe, would it kill Kat?
Then he went back to hiding in his corner to be useless, holding his breathe as much as possible while he mother was over there coaching dear Kat on what she was supposed to be focused on.
Then his mind struck him like a truck to remind him the even -'better'- news. He was probably about to become a father... WHAT IF... dljal;df.. No more what ifs! But but.. BUT WHAT IF.
NO! STOPPIT!
If Kat hadn't asked him to stay, he would've gone and been useless outside the Den, then at least he could stop holding his breathe to prevent pain of death or whatever his issue was.

"You're doing fine, Kat," Ausi repeated again softly, draping one paw over her shoulders and nuzzling her head again in a consistantly reassuring and encouraging manner. "The cubs will be alright, once you've started it'll come easier, I promise." She smiled, tail lashing behind her, out of both Kat and Ai's view. She'd aided lionesses through countless births back in her father's pride, and experienced three of her own, but she was more than a LITTLE excited to be here for the birth of her second litter of grandchildren.
She'd missed Nukta's, but Ai and Kat... her little boy, he'd been such an affectionate and playful cub, she couldn't wait to see him in action with his own. He'd make a spectacular father, and she couldn't help but bolster with pride just thinking about how well he'd do even if it was a bit new for a while. And Kat, though nervous, was just as much a loving soul as any that Ausi had the pleasure of meeting. She hadn't told the other female yet, but she couldn't have hoped for a better companion for her son to spend the rest of his life with.
"Try to stay relaxed if you can, Kat, you know that little voice in the back of your head? Listen to what it has to say." Instinct, all creatures had it, but some were better at listening than others. Ausi's job as midwife was to help Kat stay calm and do what her body was programmed to do.

Kat opened her eyes and peered around for a moment, could see Ai a little bit, but he was too far away, she didn't want him to be too far away, "Ai?" it was a silent and short way of asking him to come closer, even just a little bit so it didn't feel like there was a huge gap between them. She needed Ai to be close so she felt safe, Ausi was there which was one of the best things she could have hoped for, but Kat wanted her mate close too!
Kat nodded at Ausi when she said it'd be easier, she hoped it would, this hurt, and it wasn't fun at all, not at all. "M-hmmm," was all she could muster as a reply as another pain shot through her. Listen to the voice in her head? It was telling her to scream right now! Kat didn't want to scare anyone, or Ai!
She laid her head down again and felt strange, and she felt strange and put a paw over her mouth and...
Then there was wetness...
Kat raised her paw and peered by her tail and a shiny, wet, wriggling lump laid there, tilting her head she listened to that voice in the back of her mind, picking it up, placing it between her paws and cleaning it off. It turned out to be a cub, and she smiled, the cub was a boy.
"Look..." she said in a soft whisper, her voice tired already, though she still had a way to go, "Ai, its a boy," she peered up in his direction, "A son Ai," she smiled, smiled at Ausi and placed their new son by her side. It was strange this..process, and it made her blush somewhat in the dark having both Ai and his mother here. But it was nice, not being alone.
A pain then shot through her and she grit her teeth and hissed, closing her eyes, feeling that strange feeling again, and she whined in her throat, another wet feeling, another cleaning off, this time the cub's pelt being pure white with some brown on it, a little girl, "A baby girl!" she exclaimed, obviously happy and excited. Their new and eldest daughter.
She still felt yet another pain and she squeaked in surprise from it, this cub came much easier, and after cleaning her off, Kat smiled down at her brown pelted daughter that was a perfect mixture of both her and Ai,after all, she wasn't sure how many more cubs would come, she just hoped she was doing everything alright...
Though she felt more pains coming, even with the three bundles of fluff at her side...more were coming...

A few more deep breaths were needed before Ai forced himself out of his useless corner to come take his mate's side, mimicking his mother and nuzzling the side of her face to let her know he was there. Despite the fact he was still holding his breath to keep from killing something with it.
He still never knew!
The next instant seemed to pass by faster than even an instant could describe, causing him to look between his mate and the child she'd set between her paws to clean, giving the boy a lick on the head so his fur would stick up in a way he thought made him look quite manly!
Y'know. Despite the fact that he wouldn't be able to appreciate the sentiment. Ick.. there was something funny on them that made them taste a bit strange. Not that he was plotting on eating his kids.
Ai assisted more thoroughly in the cleaning of the second child, admiring the girl's lovely face (Hmm, he never thought his kids would look like these were...), nudging her over next to her sibling a bit. So beautiful... wait.... was there going to be -another- one?
How many babies were in there?
In the time they were given between this third daughter, beautiful like her mother, and what seemed like more to come, Ai licked the side of Kat's face. "I don't know if it means anything coming from me, but you're doing fine.." he encouraged, before looking up at his mother with a sort of 'AM I BEING USEFUL?' look.

As it turned out, secretly, Ai wasn't the only one holding his breath, as Ausi's caught in her throat rather abruptly at the sight of the first cub. There wasn't a lot that she could do for Kat at this point beyond continuing to murmer reassuringly, encouraging her to keep it up just a bit more.
A second cub came, and Ausi felt as if she were reliving her own memories, her own litters, first one, then another. How she wished Daimyn were there to see this, the birth of their second son's first litter of children.
She looked to Ai, giving a genuine and heartfelt smile, nodding gently. "You're doing wonderful." She said, addressing both in one sentence, but they weren't done yet, Ausi would judge by what her senses told her. "Just keep it up, Kat," She purred, making a bit more room for Ai.

Kat smiled and purred in her throat as Ai gave her a simple lick on her cheek for reassurance, and truy, it did help a lot. Her three cubs were besides her, wriggling and newling softly, and aready feding. Sh knew about the feeding part, that she could remember, thogh i felt strange and it if was lighter in the cav, Ai and Ausi would definately be able to see Ka blushing.
Another sharp pain shot through her abdomen and she roared softly in pain, covering her mouth with a paw as to not scare the litter ones already at her side. As she felt one coming, another pain came along, almost syncronized, and before Kat knew it, two more cubs were in this orld, aleady between her paws as sh cleaned them off. Sh smiled to herself, they ooked similar to her first son but...we're identicl to one another, "Look, Twins!" she said with an excited tone, her son and daughter were gorgeous little things.
Kat nudged them to her side with their three other siblings and laif her head down again, it was obvious she was tired from he whole process, but it asn't nearly over yet. After a couple more roars of pain, two more boys were at he side, one was a deep brown but like his father had a golden arm band. The youngest was a very pale brown, but beautiful none the less
Seven, there were even cubs at her side, seven children, seven.
Where were they all going to fit?
It seemed like it was over, and here still had to be naming, though Kat wasn't to sure she'd be able to stay awake for much longer, her body was exhausted, she was faitigued moreso then she ever remembered being.
"Seven..."

Ai had stared at the next pair of cubs that Kat cleaned off, not assisting this time, but actually looking between the pair incredulously. He wasn't seeing any differences and for a minute he wanted to take the time to go 'WAIT A MINUTE' and demand that there be an explanation.
But he was just being a silly father and his mind went 'Hurrdurr' at him when Kat exclaimed that they were twins.
Twins?
They'd already gotten three and now they had to get two who -matched-? Ai already sobbed internally at trying to remember nine names + 5 more. But, he had to admit five wasn't a bad numb-
...
There were -MORE- in there?
Ai licked both boys clean in stead of Kat, whom seemed to be exhausted, nudging the pair over by their siblings, before doing a final count over, seeming to arrive at a different gender-increment each time, until he finally got the same one over and over again.
"Seven.." he also said, laying down next to Kat and resting his head against hers, purring a bit. "Three daughters and four sons. That's gonna be a lot of names to think up." he mused, then looked up to his mother. -SHE- had named ten.
After a moment he sat up again, not lifting his head from Kat's until the very last.
"Um.. I think.. I'll go.. y'know.. bring.. that.. thing over.. -there- in..." he seemed to fumble over the words before rushing outside.
Whether it was to actually drag his kill back in or if it was to go yell 'I HAVE SEVEN KIDS NOW', well.. it didn't really matter.

The second born daughter, the one that looked like a perfect mix of both parent, as decreed by her mother, was feeding rather furiously on again off again. Although she had been at the side feeding for sometime she didn't want to stop, and only paused every now and then to mewl at her siblings and her parents.
Then when more siblings were added to the feeding she squirmed and moved around trying to create more space for herself only to fail. She let out a soft whine before giving up and resuming her feeding
