I suffer from clinical depression and i have been on antidepresives for a couple of weeks now.
And i must be one of the few guys in the world who thinks its ok to cry.

I feel sad most of the time and some times i just want to lay down on my bed and cry, but i cant.
No seriously, i cant.

I think the antidepresives have done something i my head making me unable to cry.
I really miss crying because its a good way to ease the emotional pain.

So does anyone have an idea on how i can cry again?

Coming from a girl with clinical depression, it's definately ok for guys to cry. I like guys that at least have the ability to excrete liquid from their tear ducts. Be it salene or other.

My anti-depressants were that way for a long time. And as much as I hate the word "tweak" now, they may need to "tweak" your dosage. Meaning, basically, play with the milligrams until you're good again.

Mind if I ask you what medication it is?

That happens a lot with antidepressants, especially while your body is still getting used to them. Talk to your doctor about your concerns, but you might find that you're able to cry again once you have been on the meds a while longer.

When I'd miss a dose or two of Prozac, often I'd find myself getting upset and crying intentionally as a sort of release. I get the feeling like the Prozac is sort of holding back my emotions, making it easier for me to keep things bottled up. Compared to how I react to things without any medication, I DEFINITELY prefer having my feelings bottled up. I don't even really miss crying over things, even though it's certainly healthy. I think I'm fine being as stoic as I've become. Crying and being emotional is okay, but in my opinion it's perfectly healthy to not cry over anything.

I have this problem too - I can't ever seem to cry when I need to.

I haven't come up with a solution. I just wanted to let you know that you're not alone.

It's a fairly common complaint, so if you talk to your psychiatrist about it, he/she'll probably be able to help.

Hey!!! Me too!!!
I've been on it for... oh good, I wrote about it in my Gaia Journal, since May 28.

What time do you take it at?
I take mine with breakfast, so around 7:30am - 8:00am ish.
Say if I watch the Wizard of Oz at around... 4:00pm, I won't cry. But if I watch it at 10pm, I'll bawl my eyes out.

I don't know how long Cipralex lasts for, but I can tell you that Cipralex has worked miracles for me. It took a while, quite a while, but really I wish I had started taking years and years ago.

(also, I'm on other stuffs, so that may affect my ability to cry, but I know for sure Cipralex has helped... I think you just have to get used to it)

I have the same exact problem. I'll feel sad, but I can't release...usually if I see a sad movie I'm in tears, but with the meds I just find myself almost unemotional.

But if I don't take them, I cry at the most simple things. And I love it, I love the release, but I don't like being sad.
