Already the signs of her lion, Muroki, and the others were growing dim behind her. When the wind blew from the right way, she could no longer catch even the slightest smell of them. And as she went along on her long legs, Kainda knew their was no way they'd catch up. Her steady trot ate up the miles as the beloved sun rose and fell and rose again. Dawn saw her moving slower but still moving.
Having found Muroki, she was sure she'd be able to find others as he'd asked her to. Lions, jackals, wolves, birds...anything of a like mind and a good temper. They needed more claws and teeth on their side to win back the Temple - but equally important was finding good souls who could call it home afterwards. Still...two days ahead and she'd have hoped to have found at least one by now. She was still in the roguelands not too far from the Unity Walkers, a vast grassland. These usually were full of life but she'd only seem small animals so far.
She kept moving, tiredly checking the wind and pausing to listen every now and then.

Badru was technically out on patrol. He wasn't especially fond of the chore, nor did he truly put forth much effort. While his other siblings were more inclined to enjoy this activity, 'Dru was only ever assigned it once every week or so, whenever someone remembered to tell him. One of the reasons the lion disliked it, and regarded it as a large waste of time, was how close his family was to the Unity Walker lands. Any physical threat would either bypass the small family group on the borders or eliminate them altogether. Still, Lesedi had insisted, and Badru wasn't anywhere near confident enough to challenge a decision she had made.
It was while in this disgruntled mindset that he finally noticed the approaching figure, blinking once, slowly, as he tried to figure out how long they'd been coming roughly towards him. "Who goes there?" he challenged, voice carrying clearly as he tried to sound impressive and threatening, but mostly just sounding bored.

"Kainda, of the Dawnwalk Clan."
She barked, her weariness lending her voice seasons she'd yet to live through. In her mind she giggled. For a second their she'd sounded kind of like her mother Akinyi. She did pause for the first time since she'd left the lions behind her even though she answered confidently. Despite the stranger the brief stop made her feel like sitting down for a spell or laying down for just a quick little nap. Her prince had told her not to push herself too much...but she wanted to do her job well. And sleeping took up valuable time.
"I'm traveling looking for lions. Would you mind if we talked for a while or am I trespassing?"

((feel free to shoot me for taking so long. D: ))
Badru felt an electric shiver run down his spine at the reply that echoed back to him. Dawnwalk? Surely she couldn't be serious. There was no Dawnwalk Clan, not anymore. But...looking for lions? Mother would certainly want to know about this. "Not trespassing, no, he replied to her last question first, shaking his mane. "Indeed, you may very well have found something of what you're looking for here," Badru continued, probably somewhat cryptically, but it made sense to him.
"What did you want to talk about?" he asked her ingenuously, as if he didn't have an inkling of what that could be. Then again, she could surprise him.

"The usual things passing strangers might talk about, I suppose. Bad places to avoid, the savannahs' rumors and whispers, stories..." She tried to sound like her mother once had, experienced and older than she was.
Rogues she'd met before had either been unfriendly or friendly enough they'd tell you to avoid a haunt of a local menace or comment on the weather in passing. It was a good way of judging who might be a good candidate to tell about the Clan. Kainda still acted like a pup sometimes, but she had an important mission these days. Though, mission in paw, she was wondering what he'd meant by his first comment, and it struck her that he looked a bit...
"I heard tell of a famous hunteress once. Lesedi, I think her name was."
((Ah, no worries. ^^ And I wish that Lesedi wasn't an NPC, Kainda's fawn all over her, since she wants to be an awesome hunter herself. Will have to settle for her son, ne? ))

((That would certainly be fun~Badru will probably be something of a letdown, though. >o>;; Didn't really pay attention to Mom. xD))
Ahhh, boring topics. Here he'd been hoping for news of something else. "It's safe enough through this area, although anything beyond is an unknown to me," Badru replied, flicking a paw in a depreciating matter to accompany his next comment. "I don't tend to go elsewhere."
Oh! She'd guessed, correctly. How wonderful! Maybe the Dawnwalkers had a chance after all. "My mother," came the response, followed by a quick glance at the wolf to gauge her reaction to the announcement.

"Which means we've more interesting things to discuss...I found the heir to the throne and the Clan gathers once more." Pleased to have found a real Dawnwalker of the old lion stock, and with her guess, she smiled. Kainda youth showed through in the way she wagged her tail and the way all thoughts of secrecy and careful deduction of his nature vanished. She thought she'd recognised something about him.
"I've met some of your relatives before, cousins or something of the sort. What's your name?" She gestured with a paw apologetically. Lesedi was someone she'd heard of. Her family however wasn't exactly something she'd studied.
((Nah. XD He's got the makings of a priest/is one. That's nearly as cool as being a great hunter to her.))

"I think we just might," the lion replied warmly, eager to hear news of the Clan's...reorganization? Rebirth? Whatever it could be termed as, Badru was certainly receptive to the thought of it. "Have there truly been that many others willing to help?" he asked, somewhat incredulously, an oblique reference to the first time this had been attempted.
"More than likely. I do seem to have a lot of them," he said somewhat sheepishly. "My name is Badru. Yours?"

"I recognise that name!" The wolf nodded, recalling someone mentioning him at some point. For sure, this was one of the old blood. It was like the gods were drawing such lions close once again, so that they might be asked to join in, almost. The traveling band did seem to have a knack of finding them!
"Mine is Kainda, last born of old Akinyi. Do you remember a lion named Muroki? You're about the same age, I think." She herself was much younger, not long into maturity. Her mother had been a puppy when these lions were cubs.

"You do?" Badru asked, looking surprised. Someone remembered him? That was...gratifying. His mother had been the one everyone knew, and crawling out of her shadow, especially when he wasn't an exceptional hunter or warrior, was difficult.
"Muroki...It sounds familiar, but I was young when we fled. Perhaps someone I knew from the Temple..." the lion mused, wrestling with his increasingly vague and fuzzy memories from cub-hood. If only he had forgotten - or blocked out? - so much from that time period!

"Yes, he was young when he left too..." She said thoughtfully, remembering what her mother had taught her. When most of her fellow puppies had been versed in stories about the hare and the hound and the moon, Kainda'd been learning about Muroki's past and the Clan.
"He's the heir now, since he's the nephew of the old king. I'm sure he'd be happy to meet you. The pride is quite far behind me though. Come with me and we'll soon find them. You'll be more than welcome home again with us."
She led the way back, tail and hopes high. An old member returning to the pride had to be a good sign.
