“Hey, come on, don’t be slow, we are almost there.”

Adamu called out to his blue coated friend as he clawed along, slowly working his way up some large stones. He was taking her to his privet place, where he spent a lot of his time thinking. He would come here after his mother’s death to get away from everyone else and the pride.

She had grown on him and in the end he did enjoy the company she brought him. She was so young in mind and never seemed to show a ‘sad side’; he liked that. All of his cubhood he was just so sad… he couldn’t stand being around other that were upset, no, not anymore.

Looking back at her again he called out.

”We are almost there, just a few more feet.”

"Good because I would like a rest!" She pouted, feeling full and sleepy from the hunt. Eventually Adamu had made her hunt real prey with him. Or what he termed real pray anyways, which were zebra. It had been delicious!

"So where are we headed again?" She watched as he walked in front of her, eyes rolling over his scars. He was very handsome! She liked the scars... she wasn't sure why though.

“It’s a surprise! You’ll love it though, I swear.”

It was late afternoon by now and the sun was setting. Things were turning a different shade of blue gold and the sun just kissed along the tops of the far away mountains, outlining the beauty of sister prides. He loved this place, this was his home and he never wanted to leave.

Pushing himself upward he finally reached the top and with a soft grunt tumbled onto his side, landing roughly- but with a smile.

The sunset made this place look so lovely. He couldn’t help but smile. His mother brought him here once before she passed away and every night after that he came here, in memory of her.

The grass here was soft and laced with bright orange flowers and many fireflies flew passed his nose as he wrinkled it back some. It was paradise.

“Look.”

He spoke out softly, gazing off at the lovely patch of land his mother once showed him, gave to him.

Kimia came to his side and stared out at the beautiful scenery that was now available for her eyes. She gasped slightly and giggled, nuzzling lightly into his side. It was a friendly gesture, nothing more. She didn't know about things called personal boundries. "Adamu, it's lovely! I have never seen something so pretty..." She whispered, her eyes floating between the beautiful sunset and the glowing fireflies, which were distracting her because she wanted to bat at them... like a cub. Oh poor, poor Kimia and her cub-like tenancies. Oh well, at least she was a cutie.

"This is you spot?" She said, sitting herself so she could lean against her new friend. "I don't think I've ever been this high up."

“Yeah, this is my spot.”

He was learning to understand her better, the way she talked and all. It was hard at first but she grew on him. He knew to be kind to her.

“My mother brought me here a long time ago. She helped me pick out a stone to give to…”

He stopped and sighed.

“My father.”

He let out weakly, knowing that the king, her mate… was not his father and wouldn’t love him like he wanted. But he lived with it, and still kept the stone hung along his neck. It was a lovely shade of orange earth.

“Do you like it?”

She smiled and wiggled slightly, jealous but happy he showed it to her. She wished... that she had a spot. Or a home, even.

Why the pause? "Who is your father... and your mother? Can I meet them? My mom died next to me.." She said, feeling chatty. She didn't sound upset about her mother's death... it wasn't that she wasn't sad about her mother being gone, she'd been way too young to understand something like death. "And I never met my father. Is it nice... parents?"

She meant was it nice to have parents, of course she didn't know Adamu's history.

Her eyes glinted as she looked at the beautiful orange stone and she peered closer to it. "Oh! I do, it matches you nicely... did you find it up here?"

“My mother also died when I was young, though I was old enough to love her.”

He said with a weak smile, moving himself to sit close to her.

“And my father never loved me. We don’t take at really.”

Well, he was being truthful to himself about saying what he felt.

“I guess all I can say about parents is that it’s good to have them, you know? But I only ever had a mother for a short while, so I can’t say much about the subject.”

As she spoke about the rock on his neck he smiled again and thought to himself before speaking.

“I am sorry about your mother. It seems that our lives are not that different.”

He paused again.

“Would... would you like to stay here with me? In this pride? I could be your family, so that way we aren’t alone. I like being around you; after all, I could help you learn to hunt more--"

She frowned. Oh, so he didn't really know his parents at all either. So... she'd never met anyone similar to her in the parent situation. It was comforting having someone.

"Oh!" At his invitation she launched herself in a loving pounce. "Yes! Yes, Kimia wants to stay here!" She squeaked. Again, no boundaries. She was too excited to think about if he'd get upset from the tackle or not. She was small, at least.

"I've never had family before." She muttered, purring and nuzzling into her friend and now her family! Oh Adamu was so kind! Now she could do tons of family things with him! Er... well... if she knew what families did together.

At her sudden burst of life and joy Adamu laughed and rolled onto his side.

“Haha, good!”

He nuzzled her back some, knowing that what she was doing was nothing more then a cub’s way of thanking him. He didn’t and couldn’t take it another way, no matter how much he liked her.

Gazing up at her he smiled and spoke out.

“Welcome to the family.”

As he spoke he slowly rolled himself upward and softly pushed her onto her bottom. He was trying to remove the necklace from his neck. Clasping the stone into his mouth he tugged at it and it ripped from the string on his neck, holding it within his jaws he mumbled.

“This is for you.”

The best he could.

"Really?" She gasped, in awe. A gift for her! She leaned her neck up so he could help get it over her head and licked his cheek. "Thank you Adamu!"

Everything felt so nice. "But um..." She blushed slightly. "What is this pride called?" She hadn't been sure, and she wanted to know if she was to meet other lions here.

He smiled.

“This is the Kusini'Mwezi. Your new home. I’ll make sure you stay safe.”

He promised and wiggled himself to his paws. He smiled at her again before speaking.

“Just stick by my side and you’ll do just fine.”

She smiled and purred, nodding her agreement. Oh it would be nice living in these lands with Adamu.
