Hokay! So, I had read at one point a suggestion about having a contest where you send in you singing and it gets judged. So, being a music education major, I was immediately interested and brought this up to Delacroix... here's the dealio. I'm really interested in judging this, and Del told me to just go for it, so, I am. Before I list complete rules, I need a good amount of people, at least 5, we'll say. The fee to enter will be 200 gold and the winner will receive half. The other half will go to the guild. So, let's get a list of people first... please respond here within 2 weeks if you are interested. If there is a good base by October 17, I will list rules and details. If you have anything you wish to know now, post your questions here as well. Thanks!

Dude, I'm totally into entering this and half busting your ear drums with my screech of a singing voice. ^^; But you really don't need to donate half the money to the guild. It's rather pointless because we're already one subforum over what we need and more money would just equal more work that I'm too lazy to do. But yes, I will enter. 4laugh ~del

So, we have three people. I said I'd give until the 17th before posting the rules. Even if no more people want to join, the three of you can still compete. Remember that the entrance fee is 200 gold. This money will go to the winner. All late entrants (after October 17th) will have an additional 100 gold charge. The rest of the details will be posted on or around the 17th.

OK... so, I know I said until the 17th, and that's been a few days... I'm sorry I've been trying to plan a trip to Chicago for 30 students and 7 chaperons. ::headache:: My bad. Anyway! So here are the rules.
1. If you plan on entering, 200 gold must be "traded" to me no later than 11:59pm Eastern Standard time on October 31st, 2007 along with a PM informing me that you will be entering. 2. Your song choice must be from Schoenberg's Les Miserables. There is NO gender specifications, males may sing female songs and females may sing male songs. 3. Though accompaniment may help you to keep pitch and tempo, it is NOT required, nor will it affect the entrants final score. 4. Recordings may be submitted by U.S. mail or by download-able mp3 files. If being submitted by mail the following forms will be accepted: cassette tape, CD, DVD, and VHS. Please let me know when you send the PM how you plan to submit. If submitting by mail, as the due date gets closer, I will give an address to mail your submissions to. 5. No digital alteration of the recording is permitted. 6. Scores will be based on the following: vocal quality (can you sing better than William Huang?), word pronunciation (can I tell what you're singing?), and feeling of the music (can you reflect in your voice what the song says in the words?). No points will be deducted for recording quality. Your score would be the same recorded on a cassette tape or a CD. 7. Have fun! 8. Due date for recordings will be November 10. If submitted by mail, the due date is judged by postmark date.
Thanks, guys!
Late entrants will be accepted from this point until October 31st, 2007. Late entrants will only be accepted if a submission of 300 gold is "traded" to me by the last date of late acceptance.

I just stumbled across this thread, are you interested in having another one of these? I would love it so much! I am going to be performing "I Dreamed a Dream" in a performance in March, so I would love to hear some feedback.
