I have troubles with med compliance more than remembering to take the meds. The one suggestion I have to help you with med compliance is this: Don't make the decision to discontinue your meds alone. Let your doctor help you. If you have somebody that you live with or that is around you all the time that you trust, have them help you too, since they will be able to see changes in your behavior. If you think up reasons not to take your meds (eg: they limit you and make you live a lie), discuss these issues with your doctor fully, and make a conscious decision with your doctor as to which state of being will best help you live the life you want.
As for tips for remembering to take the meds. It's pretty easy for me. I have a morning routine and a bedtime routine, so I just have to put the meds near something that I have to use for those routines. Like set the bottle on top of the toothbrush or something.

I don't like taking the meds, because every time I do, I feel like a failure in some way. I just don't like what it does to me. Plus, they give me some serious diarrhea....
That, and I forget.

as for remembering, I always take mine right after breakfast since they make me super ill if i do it without food...this poses a problem when I don''t eat breakfats or go on a hunger strike, but in the second case I''m usually more worried about other things or I wouldn''t be starving myself in the first place (I know, stupid habit, but it''s hard to stop)
as for compliance, I suggest that you pretend it''s something else. Like for me, I just think kay, this will make you happy even though I well know it does jack s**t...
otherwise, I keep a couple in my backpack and wait for a good moment

Usually, if I'm not going to be home, I put my morning meds in a pill box and put it in my pants pocket the night before. So when I remember them, I take them right then.

I take mine in the evening so its pretty easy to remember, I keep the box near my bed and try to remember to put a tablet in my pocket at the beginning of the day. I find it useful to keep a couple in whatever bag I'm using in case I forget. I took my old meds in the morning so I just kept a blister pack in my school bag as I nearly always forgot to take them before I left the house.
Meds can change you and your perceptions in subtle ways I reckon. In terms of compliance, I just think that not taking them all the time won't eliminate these subtle shifts but it will dumb down any positive effects taking meds may have.

I always take my Zoloft. I'm a depressed, anxious, scared-shitless-literally mess without it.
However, I don't always take the Amantadine; the stuff for ADD. I have more fun when I'm not being held down by calmness and reason.

I use to skip my medicine purposely everyday, now I very (very) seldom skip them, and sometimes I forget. Most of them don't help anyway, so I don't give a crap. Plus no one forces me to take them.

i always take my meds...i'm on lexapro...its an SSRI...without it i was a wreck and i wouldnt be here...i used to self harm n have really bad anxiety n depression...after a year its finally settled down...
with meds i found that u dont always see the changes in yourself due to them...for a long time i didnt think they worked...then i realised how much changed in me over time...
keeping a journal helps notice how effective meds are...
i set my alarm clock to take my meds at same time...lately been a bit compliant with that but yeh...havin them on time certainly helps

I'm eternally forgetting to take my meds. I keep on intending to set up a pill box, but I just don't get around to it... at least that's not unusual for me, right? I'm worried because I'm starting birth control today, and I KNOW I'm not going to have an easy time remembering it, which decreases the efficacy. (I've been going by the three-step "condom" "wish" and "pray" method for months, ever since the ortho evra patch made me have my period for a full month).
Ares: Maybe try a different medication and try to see if the side effects are less horrible? If meds make your mental functioning better, then they're important... there's no failure in taking medication.

You change it the first day of every new month, and just leave it in, so you don't have to remember anything daily or weekly at all. heart
