Trinity stared up at the tops of the trees with a smile. Oh how she wanted so badly to fly. Just open her wings and shoot off into the clouds. She gazed down at her hands and flexed her fingers. Now if only she knew how to do that. She lowered her hands to her sides and continued on to the store.
"Tom! Get DOWN from there!" A woman hissed at her son who had climbed up on an old fire escape. The fire escape groaned under his weight but he just grinned, waving at his mother.
The blond frown and shook her head. Kids... She jerked her head up at a shrill cry. The fire escape crumbled leaving him hanging onto a single bar, far too fall and be safe.
Trinity felt the familiar pain as she shifted into a large hawk. She registered the loud gasps and shrieks of those around her but didn't mind it. She opened her large wings and went to the air. She caught the boy's shirt on her talons. The boy squealed in shock and let go trying to ward off the bird.
Trinity beat her wings as fast as she could, straining to lower them to the ground. Once on the ground he bolted to his mother and the bird fell to the ground, shifting back into a naked woman. She covered herself up and looked up at the people around her, completely drained.

Everyone around her stared. And stared. And staaaaared.
"Mommy, mommy! That lady turned into a BIRD!" A little girl exclaimed gleefully as she pulled on her mother's hand.
That seemed to break the spell. People started to whisper and mutter, looking at Trinity with distrust and disgust. The whispers got louder and louder even as their voices darkened and deepened in fear and anger. The mother quickly pulled her little girl out and away from there. It appeared things were going to be quite violent quite soon.
"Hey FREAK! Wanted some attention, eh? You probably put that kid up there!" A man yelled.
"She probably played with his mind! Influenced him!" Another one booed.
"FREAKS SHOULD DIE!!" A woman yelled angrily. "She'll kill us all! Kill her! Kill her!"
The chant was quickly taken up by a many others. And even more people made sure to get the hell out of there until there was just half a dozen left. Two men stepped forwards threateningly.
"We'll be teaching ya a lesson, lass," one of them growled angrily. He had picked up a large iron bar from the thrash. "You ain't mess with us normal people. Got it?" He raised the bar.
((*dun dun* biggrin ))

The woman smiled at the child until the whispers started. Put the child? How could they even think that! She shook her head. "No that's..." But they wouldn't let her get in a word edgewise. "I don't want hurt anyone!" She shouted trying to calm them down. Kill?
The girl's eyes widened as she skittered backward. She tried to pull herself to her feet, much more afraid of being hurt then exposing her self but her body gave her a sharp reprimand that kept her down. "Please don't!" She held up her arms to protect herself, willing herself to change into anything! A sparrow, a dove, a condor! Anything that could give her a chance to escape but nothing would come.
"Someone please! Help me!" She called hopelessly to the people that were around her. "I don't want to hurt anyone! Please!"

A young man stepped forwards then, pushing his way past the men. His short blonde hair stood up in small spikes. He had obviously put great care and a lot of gel into his hair. He had stepped forwards, ignoring the mutters and shouts and crouched down with Trinity, even as he pulled off his long and warm black overcoat. He gently put it around her and smiled at her. "Here," he offered, "You must be cold." His eyes were looking searchingly at her, not hostile at all, merely intrigued, and were black. Not dark grey or dark brown. Black.
He smiled at Trinity and gave her a quick wink. "Don't be afraid. I won't let them hurt you," he told her softly. He then rose smoothly to his feet and turned to face the men.
"What do you want?" one of the men growled. "Are ye one of them freak lovers?!" he spat out.
"Maybe's he one of them himself," another growled. He had also picked up an iron bar.
The other four men had also picked up various items that could be considered weapons as they now formed a half circle around Trinity and the blonde young man and slowly, threateningly advanced.

Trinity tried to shrink back from him when he approached then stared at the coat that was laid on her. "Tha...thank you..." She whispered pulling it tighter around herself. Why couldn't she change now! Wasn't she in danger again? She didn't want anyone to get hurt especially not someone trying to help her.
"W-wait!" She grabbed a hold of his hand. "Don't hurt them... or anything sir... I... won't tolerate any violence." Her dual eyes dampened when she saw how the men were reacting and she let her hand fall. "Just please... don't kill any of them."

The man smiled a bit patronisingly at Trinity and patted her head. "For you, then," he smiled, then smoothly rose to his feet and stepped forwards to meet the men head on.
The first guy smirked and came charging towards the young man (whose name was Johnny) and then swung his iron bar towards his head as fast as he could. At the same time, the second guy was approaching from Johnny's left, also carrying a bar and also swinging at his head.
Johnny dodged around the first guy's blow and stepped into him while he brought up his elbow, hitting the guy in the face. The force of the blow and the speed with which he was running threw him backwards. Johnny immediatly took a step sidewards to dodge the second blow, then neatly turned, spinned around so his back was to the other and then ducked. The other guy kept on skidding. So when Johnny brought up his elbow into the man's stomach, he had the wind knocked out of him and he fell forwards, right onto Johnny's knee, which came up with full force into his face. A dry SNAP would tell everyone his nose was broken, and he, too, fell to the ground, letting out a howl of pain.
Johnny just tisked and looked at the others. He made no threatening moves, merely seemed to wait for them to come at him. "Well? You're not so brave now that you're not against a defenseless girl, aren't you?" he asked them coldly.
The first man came at him with another roar from behind, once more bringing down the bar at all force.
Johnny turned around and then caught the bar into his hand. His other hand caught the punch the guy had also aimed at him. He didn't seem much impressed even as the other guy now struggled to free both his items.
"I think I'll take that," Johnny smirked.
The iron bar glowed for a moment and then seemed to materialise into a pallet of purple and black light dots before it vanished into nothingness.
"There we go." Johnny smirked now looking into the man's eyes.
The latter let out a cry and backed away, his eyes widening. He took one more look at him, then at his fallen comrade and then turned and ran away as fast as he could.
That seemed to be the sign for the others, and the four that had been staring now ran too, which left only the broken nose guy. And he, upon realising he was no longer with his buddies, scrambled up and then ran off, swaggering slightly.

Trinity glared at Johnny as she got to her feet. "Thank you for saving me but don't treat me like a child." She gripped part of the broken fire escape then ran her fingers along it.
"Thank you for not killing any of them though I do think you went a little far..." The shifter gazed at him with a frown. "Did you have to break his nose? I think simply knocking them out would have worked well..." She shook her head and sighed. What was done was done. "I'm Trinity... and you are?"

"What?" Johnny protested, "Mind your attitude, kid. I just saved your life. I went too far?" He looked incredulously at her. "What world are you living in? They would have killed you, probably have raped you too, you know." He folded his arms and looked at Trinity in disbelief.
"You know, I was going to offer to escort you back to your place, or at least a safe place, but if my help is not wanted, I can just leave." And he did turn around, ready to leave and about to, unless Trinity would say something.

Trinity blinked in surprise then reached out, grabbing his arm. "Wait! I... I just don't like violence... I apologize and I am grateful..." She released his arm and stepped back.
"I uhm... I would be very grateful if you walked me home. I do apologize I've... only transformed one other time and I don't even know how I did it and...." The girl took in a death breath. "I'm rambling sorry..." She looked down at the coat. "I don't live far."

Johnny looked at her in suprise and then smiled. "That's quite alright. I'm Johnny. Trinity, you said your name was?" he asked and then held out his arm for her to take.
"You've only recently found out about your powers?" he asked. "That must have been hard for you. How are you doing?" He seemed truly interested in knowing.

She hesitated then took his arm. "Yes... I fell out of a tree and turned into a dove.... I don't know how I do it... It... makes me very tired." She shifted closer when they passed another group of people.
"I'm doing alright I suppose... my boyfriend and his brother are very supportive." She smiled at the thought. "They're trying to find a place where I can really learn about them but... Its hard to contact NSA. I was just going to the store but I saw that boy in trouble and... yet again I was airborne before I knew it."
She looked over to him excitedly. "What's your power?"

He nodded at her. "That's true. The first few times are the hardest. But once you get the hang of it, it should be better. You silly girl, using your powers in public like that." But he smiled at her, not meaning the insult.
"The NSA aren't the only people that train evolveds. There are many others, but of those, most prefer to stay low-key, in order to avoid persecution." He sighed. "You've seen the way people are. In any case, I'm very glad you have someone that supports you. I know that's what wins you half the battle already. Nonetheless, I do urge you to remain careful, because haters aren't very picky. They'll target your family as easily as they'll do you."
He shook his head and smiled ruefully at Trinity. "I'm sorry, Trinity, I tend to be a bit over-cautious when meeting new evolveds such as yourself. There's so many things you don't know and should be aware of. So many dangers."
He shook his head again. "But to answer your question...well... you saw, right? I can turn objects into energy and absorb that energy back into myself. It's quite convient when someone's swining iron bats at your head," he told her dryly, chuckling a bit.

"Can you tell me how control my transformations?" She asked then flushed at the light joke. "I'll try not to do it again..."
The girl looked horrified. "They'd come after my family...? Then shouldn't I leave? Where do you get trained at? Maybe they could train me as well." Her frown deepened. "I suppose they'll wish me to fight..."
Trinity focused her attention him. "How does that work?" She questioned about his power. "Do you understand why we get our powers? What if we don't want them?"

Johnny halted and turned to Trinity. He gently took her upper arms. "Calm down, Trinity," he told her softly. "Take a breath. Everything will be fine." He waited until she did that and then offered hsi arm again.
When they were walking again, he addressed her other questions. "What I meant was they would target you, but care not if any of your family would be involved. You are safe where you are. There is no need for you to leave." He told her kindly.
"As for training... I can bring you into contact with one of the trainers I know. His name is Clarence. Clarence Holland. He's one of the best I know. And as for our powers, well..." he shrugged a bit. "Nobody knows, right? Otherwise we would have known. You just have to deal with it, but still.... I'd hate for you to think of this as a burden to yourself. It's a gift. There is so much you can do with them. And that feeling of power, of that part of yourself..."
He looked at his hand, which flashed with a purple and black light for just a second. He smiled at Trinity. "I would not have it any other way."

"Clarence..." She repeated then nodded. "I would like that very much..." She pushed her blond hair out of her eyes with her hand then looked around. "Down this road..." She murmured tugging him off down a road.
"I suppose you're right about that... I just... I guess I'd appreciate my gift more if I could control it." When he spoke of power she simply shook her head. "I'm not very much into power... My mother tells me absolute power corrupts absolutely." Though when he displayed his power she looked delighted. "Its so pretty..."
