The gold male huffed a great breath of frosty air, and watching the cloud that had just come from his lungs dissipate made Petbe decide he had enough of this biting frost, he was getting off of the mountain. There wasn't much to do anyway, and his territory did extend to the base of things, didn't it? The young and incapbable Beta wasn't certain. He tipped his ears back. Rank thrust on him by his father, but he didn't want to be here, or guard their lands. Guard things from what? No wolf in his right mind would try to climb an ice-capped mountain to see if anyone of his species lived there.
With an uncharacteristic growl, young Petbe got to his feet and started downward. Wrapped in his own thoughts, it wasn't long before the snowcap seemed to begin melting and leaves were beneath gold furred paws. Beautiful. Green shoots were even just starting on the trees and ground. Petbe curled his maw into an excited lupine grin, and bound the whole rest of the way down. To run felt so incredible, lean muscles fed by an unexplainable need to be constantly on the move stretched from their usual cold state and he picked up speed, careening through underbrush and between trees.
Before Petbe knew it, he was well past the borders of what he now knew to be home, flying at top speed into unknown territories, a kicked up trail of long dead leaves heralding his departure onward.

"Rawr!" a small voice cried out, as the green and dust colored puppy pounced from a bush onto a nearby stick. She wrestled with it a bit before darting off, tail whirlwinding behind her.
The fact that she had been a puppy for far longer than usual didn't make a difference to her, and in any case, there hadn't been any other pups around to compare her growth to. That there was nothing physically wrong with her were the only things she and her adoptive parents cared about.
"Whee-heee!" she cried, hopping over rocks and forest floor debris. Her new family was busy today, but she was making the most of being alone. Although... having someone else around to at least talk to would have been nice.
It wouldn't have been hard to mistake the pup for a moss-covered stone if she were standing still, but now she was zipping around so fast that she didn't take the time to watch where she was going - much less take time to smell or hear anyone else around.

The rush of air across his face. Warm wind breezing across the thawed ground. Yellow paws streaking across the ground. Petbe was free. No one could take him back to his new duties! He could be a runaway, flee forever. At least until his father realized he couldn't do it, there was no way he could be more than a big puppy.
The lean wolf became more determined with every whirring step of his paw that nothing would ever stop this great escape, that was, until a moss covered rock streaked away just in front of him. Eyes wide, Petbe's stride faltered as his forepaws scrambled to avoid impact with the little moving thing, which he recognized at the last second to be a miniscule wolf.
It took a bit of acrobatics, but he did manage to avoid a crash. The downside was that Petbe ended up tumbling toe over nose with the arc of his neck and chest being the safe zone where the little pup was tucked for his tumble.
As the flat of nose met ground roughly, the golden wolf let out a pained yelp and flopped over on his side to stop the roll, falling harshly with a thump onto his ribcage. Muzzle wrinkled up in pain, but the good natured lupine managed to shake it off rather quickly to make sure his new... aquaintance was alright. Without bothering to lift himself off the ground, Petbe looked over his shoulder to take a glance at the moving stone and make sure he hadn't caused the pup any harm.

ZOOOM!~ As she crossed paths with the larger wolf, her eyes widened, and fear over hurting someone else gripped her brain. As he went down, she went with him, tucked into a neat safe zone between his chin and chest. As they landed, she scrambled a bit away as the larger wolf came to a grinding halt.
Maw agape, she made her way back up to him, once he was still. "Are you alright?" she questioned softly. She had been running way too fast... should have been watching where she was going. Oh dear.
He seemed to be big enough to be an adult, but she had come across a few large teens in her day as well - her new brother and sister being two of these. He had come out of nowhere... but that was her perspective. She quickly realized that to him, SHE had also come out of nowhere! And maybe she was a bit worse, traipsing around at high speeds camouflaged as a mossy stone!
After a minute she dared give him a small nuzzle, after all, it was in her nature to offer comfort of any type as best she possibly could. "I'm sorry I tripped you, sir." she offered in apology.

The ground was hazy. Grace of green eyes over paws revealed the yellow wolf to be mostly in one piece, though he may well have knocked himself out if the impact had been any harder. So much for running to freedom. Still not quite together. Ears swished and the ground tilted and moved as muzzle changed direction. Muffled words.
A moving rock, and it touched him. Petbe stared at the thing for a moment, his senses slowly coming back to him. Smell of a puppy. Oh!
Gasping, the slightly undersized adult scrambled to his paws, all of them attempting to go in different directions. He could have killed this little one! Maybe. Petbe wasn't certain, really, was he? Gold head shook roughly, fluffy mane of thick fur from his cold home waving dramatically. Finally, he was alright, and replayed the muffled words in his mind.
"Ohmygosh!" Not a moment's pause between words, but that was the speed at which Petbe had always communicated. "I'mfineareyouokay? DidIhityou? Areyouhurt?" A deep breath and the uncertain male tipped his head down and prodded the pup ever so lightly with his muzzle, to make sure she wasn't going to fall apart. That would have been awful!
Of course she was indeed still whole, and Petbe flashed a wolfy grin and swished his tail from side to side quickly as though in affirmation of this fact. "IthoughtIwasgoingtotrounceyouintotheground! Goodthingyou'relittle."

Oak was calm, for a puppy. The rush of words that flew past her ears caused an interesting change in her, though. Eyes opened wide and ears perked up straight as she made out every word. "I'm alright!" she giggled, giving into the prod. She didn't fall apart, but she did let it push her over onto her side where she lay, her tail thumping gently against the soft earth the golden male had tilled up with his landing.
She grinned back, her tail gaining speed until her whole butt would wiggle madly. "I wasn't too worried." she admitted "I'm little enough, yes." she affirmed, though felt a bit guilty at tripping him up.
"I'm Oak!" she announced a moment later, rising to give his nose a lick, noticing that he had landed on it. "What's your name?" she questioned as she sat back down, in case the other wolf wasn't too comfortable with getting too close to strangers. There were so many questions she wanted to ask of him. He smelled different than any of the other wolves she had met, as though he had come from a different place.

Petbe might as well have forgotten being tripped completely, he was so intrigued by the little puppy falling right over. He wrinkled his nose at the lick to it and grinned, his own tail starting to whap quickly back and forth against the ground. It wasn't long before the hyperactive male was on his feet again with his face close to little Oak, shoulders down, rump high in the air and tail wagging back and forth. His forelegs came to rest near her and on either side, the picture of an oversized puppy play bow. The gold wolf would never outgrow his energy, or so it seemed.
"I'm Petbe!" He announced with a bit of a flourish, muzzle dipping low to the ground, words slowing down just enough of an iota for the differentiation between the first word and his name. "Itsgoodtomeetyou Oak! What'reyoudoingaroundhere?" Chin against the ground, head accentuating the invitation for play with a little wiggle back and forth. Apparently the yellow male wasn't the type to be uncomfortable close to strangers, at least not ones that might get a little riled up with him and let loose some energy! After all, lean Petbe was very much a runner, and it showed in his lean and long muscled form.
With a whuff and a smile, the yellow ball of energy spun 'round his own tail and leaped away from Oak, tail wagging madly. Asking him where he'd come from might have to wait, he was too wound up to think of much else besides spending some of his energy! He had been running and hadn't gotten tired, and here was a new playmate, so why not?

Play bow! Oak was delighted to see that she had made such an energetic new friend. There weren't any puppies in her new pack, currently, and most of the adults were usually busy, but when she got back she would have to certainly encourage a more excited way of life on the others. Maybe she could get the teens Arte and Halcyon riled up? What a great thought!
When his legs came down on either side of her, she sat straight up on her haunches, forepaws flopped over her chest. "Petbe" she echoed, cementing the name into her memory. "I'm just wandering! There was nobody around to play with in the pack today." she answered, giving the big wolf's muzzle a playful tag with her paw.
She followed suite when he jumped up and away from her, bounding to her feet as well. She grinned madly before dashing under him and out the other side, whipping around to make another pass, all the while throwing little hops into her step. She had never played like this with another wolf before, but it was high time for that to happen, and she wasn't going to let the opportunity slip so easily!
