It had only been a few minutes from the time the two hyena had woken and started to move on. The leader of the two Kino the female seemed to be determined to get somewhere and Kirabo the male was obedient and following beside her his ears alert and his eyes frantic scanning about the footprints he saw not far back rested heavy in his mind and chest. He was scared yet another female would be stolen from him and so he was on guard to defend his 'master' of sorts.
"Hey Kino...if I tell you to run would you ever listen?" He said his eyes looking to a bush and staying there for some time seeing something move but soon a bird flew from the branches and his eyes turned back to the frantic scan.
"Even if I really insist it is to keep you safe?" Kira added as his striking crayon red eyes looked to her deep red ones. "Kino would you...would you do it for me?"

She'd been so intent on following the scent on the wind, the one that called to her of times she'd known so long before, that Pukukino nearly missed Kirabo's insisting words. The begging and strain in his voice caused one of her ears to flick back in annoyance.
Who was he to ask anything from her?
Stopping so she could twist to look at him, rose eyes burned into Kirabo's, looking for whatever it was that had him so spooked that he would ask her that.
"Of course not you twit, how would you defend yourself if I left you? I don't want a servant that's cut to ribbons, you'd be of no use to me in that state." Kino snapped, her fangs baring a bit as he asked. "What nerve, I never run from a fight if I know that I can easily win, and certainly anything that you're afraid of can be easily fought."
Fighting wasn't on the mind of the other though, a patchwork of colors making it invisible to the eyes and common sense of wind patterns making it invisible to scent. All that could be seen were a pair of eyes watching from the long grass.

"Kino!" He yelled out aggressively looking to her. "Please I don't want you getting hurt I might be your servant or water ever but I'm still a male and a male should protect a female he's with and well suger that you!" He yelled growling as he took a step to her.
"Now please if I tell you to run its because I do not want you hurt in any manor or form...UNDERSTAND!" He yelled stomping his foot onto the ground. He then growled as he looked over noticing the eyes as he moved closer to Kino.
The only thought coursing threw his mind was that he was about to have another female stole from him and he wasn't going to allow that to happen. No he was not able to save Esther but he was however to make the attempt to save Kino. He noticing Kino wasn't moving so he had to pull out his trump card. He moved and bit down onto her back leg that she favor some times. He didn't punch her just bit enough to make her listen to him. He then looked her with his eyes bruning the the desire to protect.
"ill you lisen!(Will you listen)" He yelled out muffled by her leg.

She wouldn't hit him any further, wouldn't strike out against him even if he hurt her, though her leg gave beneath his bite.
Pukukino didn't attack him because she was distracted. If not for the scent upon the air she would have ripped into his hip for biting at her leg. However, she smelled something in the wind that hadn't been there just a moment ago.
Surely he knew how to hide himself better than that... or had he simply stepped into the wind to make his presence known to her?
"Get off me Kira... we aren't in trouble right now. But if you bite me again you will be." Kino warned, her eyes flicking over the darkness.
Without any warning she howled, lifting her head up high. Of course he wasn't so very far away, but sometimes she liked to howl.
With strength, the howl was returned to her. It was a howl made of wind and gusts of the desert storms. A being that was born to follow the flow of the wind was nothing but wind.
Slow steps brought the older hyena into view of the two youngsters, his brown eyes burning into Kirabo's red ones with all the power of a father protecting his daughter. The arrow shaft that protruded from his right shoulder seemed to make the older male all the more foreboding as he moved closer to them, his piebald markings twisting across his body.
Normally nice in every way, Abayomi didn't like how Kira was biting his daughter in the least.

Kira stopped biting as he looked to the male then to Kino. Clearly these two had history and he was growing more angered wanting to know why. This shadow had been haunting him from some time now and he had a burning desire to know if there was still a threat to himself now more so the Kino.
He said nothing as he kept looking at the older male with a defiant expression. He eyes where filled with rage and some sacredness. The scared look in his eyes was his mind fighting to try and keep another female from getting hurt and or taken away from him. He finally let out a small growl as he turned to Kino.
"I didn't bite to hard did I? I was...only worried about you." He said in a deep voice slightly deeper and more menacing than his regular tone.
He looked at her leg for some time though the hair on his back stood straight up and his tail flared as if still giving off the body expression that was 'don't ******** with me right now I'll tare you to shreds or at least try'.

"Relax young one." Abayomi's voice sounded weathered, tired. Except that he stood before them on very strong legs and his tail down as if he weren't asserting his dominance at all. Merely he was standing there.
In fact the only frightening thing about him was the arrow jutting from his bulky right shoulder at an angle. Abayomi was large, larger than Kira was and his eyes were a deep and wisened. He knew more than either of the hyena's before him.
"Just don't bite my daughter again and you won't have to explain yourself with your body language." He said simply.
Rather than feel the pain, though admittedly she had felt it, Pukukino kept her narrowed eyes on her adoptive father. The female had never been sure as to what he wanted, though he'd taught her nearly all she knew about defense of a land. He'd shown her what you could do all by yourself, even though he'd been a drifter his entire life.
Abayomi was smart and Kino knew that if Kira didn't watch himself he'd be in trouble.
"I'm okay." Kino said finally to Kira, her rose colored orbs flicking to his red for a breif moment to let him know they were safe before she turned them back to her father. "What are you doing here?"
It was a blunt question, nearly an accusation of his following her.

Kira grew quite as he looked to the male blinking a few times his anger quickly faded as he looked at the male. He then looked to Kino as his anger began to return but he tried to hide it.
"Why didn't you just come out sooner? Why did you have to put me in that state do you understand how scared I was of loosing her!" He yelled out to the older male his eyes turning back to a stare of anger. Anger over the situation.
"I would never hurt her unless I need to. Like the circumstance we where just in. I do not know you nor did I know you r relation to her. I saw you as a male following us maybe ploting to hurt her or just down right take her away from me!" He yelled more as he started breathing heavily from his yelling.
"Dammit I don't understand it but ever since I was with her I've been scared of losing her I don't even know why she drives me nuts! Yet I stay and not because she has claimed me either I stay for some unknown reason I don't understand! Do you...Do you really want to test me again in doing this?" He said seeming to calm a little.
"I just...can't loose her." He said as he grew silent for once as he slumped down to the ground. "I can't loose her." He said looking to the male for help he seemed to lost and confused inside his own mind.

Chocolate colored eyes narrowed and suddenly, in two giant leaps, Aba was right before Kira, his hackles raised and his eyes blazing. The creature born to only see smiles on the faces of others... was angry. The anger of seeing Pukukino bitten still hadn't worn off, it burned deep in his chest and it was slowly seeping out as his fur fluffed out and a cracking sound accompanied it due to the arrow.
"Don't growl at me boy, you were the one with your fangs in her ankle. I didn't come out into the open because I wasn't sure who you were. Not because I wanted to save you a scare, but because I wasn't sure who you would be to scare." Abayomi's eyes narrowed further and his fangs bared slowly. "If you don't want to lose her then don't go hurting her and doubting every little sound the wind throws to your ears."
Before the male could even so much as respond to what he'd just told him, Aba leaned over and cuffed Kino on the side of the head. A soft fatherly cuff that told her he had only been concerned for her and wasn't there to do anything like spying for her mother.
Which was just what Kino had thought. Her eyes had watched the transaction between the two males without any interest. What the two of them cared about and what she cared about were totally different. Both of them cared about her, Kino could honestly say that the greatest thing she cared about was defending her territory.
Which right now the two males who seemed to be arguing about her well being were impeding her from doing. It was like maintanence, and if she didn't get to preform it then her territory fell to the nipping fangs of the Graveyard pack and the lions on the outside.
Wrinkling her nose up slightly, she sniffed and turned to sit with her back facing the both of them.

Kira said nothing as he looked up to the male blankly he finally pushed himself up. Looking to the male he said nothing as he took a deep breath it wasn't tell he felt Kino move that he turned to look to her. He was silent as he grew ashamed of himself. He then stood up and began to slowly walk away from the two.
"I'm so foolish." He said as he walked off as he looked to the sky trying his best to be a male to be strong and not break. He finally realized she didn't care about him. She was too wrapped up in her preciouses land to care for him.
To focused on living on her own to enjoy his company. So what was he going to do now. Show her the same coldness she showed him and leave no longer saying anything no longer looking to her no longer following her despite her claim to him.
"A foolish male that should just stay alone...alone is the only place seem fit after all." He said laughing slightly to his own remark.

Far beget Aba to go out of his way to help another male, as most of them were either stuck up or mean. Abayomi wasn't either, he was calm and level headed, kind and heartfelt. So when Kirabo stalked off talking about living alone he merely shrugged.
It was his daughter's choice of male that amused him, thatw as what had made him freeze and follow the sudden twining of their two scents. He knew what had happened, knew what would come. It had come for her mother after all.
"So you're going to let him walk away then. Just like that hm?" Aba peered at her from his dark eyes.
Naturally not. Kirabo wasn't going anywhere, he belonged to her. As the only male that had any claim to being able to get her back, Kirabo belonged to her as much as her body belonged to him.
Yet he was walking away.
"You ARE a fool you idiot. That's why I keep you around!" It was a harsh bark from a harsh muzzle. "Here you are talking about how you want to protect me and make sure I don't get hurt or taken away from you and you're walking away on your own!?"
Her rose eyes blazed at him, furious. Yet beneath the fury was something else. Something much softer, something that screamed of how hurt it was in the hopes that it would be recognized.
It was a tiny thing, but it howled endlessly in the hopes of being heard.
It had been a year since she'd walked away from her own family, never had she had someone leave her personaly. Other than the red and gold hyena that had wanted to teach her. She'd just... dissapeared. At least for lack of a better term.
Died would be better.
Now him? The fury in her eyes was starting to cool into something else, but she turned her head away quickly when it finally became sheer sadness.

"What do you want from me Kino?" He said stopped as he looked back.
"I clearly can not protect you if you will not listen. What if he wasn't your father? What if it had been some males you wouldn't have listened to me even then. You won't let me fright your battles for you." Kira said as he looked back to her stopping as he stood there his back still to her but his heared turned just enough to peer at her.
His heart instantly broke seeing her look at him. He wanted to run to her and snuggle up close telling her he was sorry but the male pride in him kicked in and wouldn't let him budge.
"Kino...what do I need to do to make you listen to me? What do I need to do to be heared." He said as he turned to her sitting where he was as he watched her trying to read her.

Rose eyes flicked over to Abayomi, who for all that he was her father sat silent and tall, his tail flicking against the flies that bothered at his flanks. Clearly he was no help whatsoever.
Instinct would dictate that Pukukino snarl over at Kirabo, reminding him that despite the evident size difference she was still in control of him and was able to make her own decisions that didn't involve him. However, reason dictated that if she wanted to keep him then she kept that part of her mind reigned under tight control. If any of it slipped then so would he, right through the long grass and out of her life.
That would be painful to see happen even if she wasn't so fond of males. He'd made her develop a soft spot for him in her heart, even though it hadn't even been a full day quite yet.
"Nothing you say or do can change my personality. Do you want to change me that badly that you'll leave me just because I've always been this way? Is it totally bad that I'm self reliant? Is it bad that I've been alone for so long I don't know how to involve others in my life? Because if my past precedes me, then by all means walk away. But if you want to walk away that's your choice, I didn't drive you away..." Kino finally said, admitting quite a few things to him and herself as she spoke. Things she'd never said out loud about her own life.

"Pukukino..." He said her name softly for the first time since they meet. Her full name apparently she had struck a cord with him and he began to slowly move back to her looking down at her his face calm as he slowly moved and rested his head against hers. He said nothing as he then acted with in second pinning her down onto the ground as she nuzzled into her licking her cheek softly as he let out a soft little whimper like noise.
"I don't want to change you...I just can't have you getting hurt okay?" He said as he looked her in the eyes not letting her up tell she agreed to him. He then nibbled on her ear softly.
"I care about you to much Kino I'm a foolish male I know but dammit you did this to me." He growled but it was a playful one. One she had heared many times one she knew well.
"Come on Kino you took my broken heart and mended it... I don't understand how you did it but you did." He said as he nuzzled her once more as he then blinked a few times looking to her. Her body seemed to be odd. He moved off her slowly as he shook his head pushing it out of his mind.

His eyes turned away. Abayomi didn't want to see this sort of thing, truthfully. Though he knew that his daughter was bound to find a male that loved her enough to do those sorts of things to her, the same sorts of things that he did with Peni from time to time.
"Well, this is all lovely and fair. I'll be headed out now. Keep a fair paw on my daughter, and do your best to heed that advice I gave you about not biting her anymore."
Then he was gone, like the wind over the desert. The patchwork of markings on his sides was the best camoflouge on the savannah.
On the ground, thoroughly pinned beneath Kirabo's heavier weight, Kino smiled up at the male that she'd named her 'lacky'. He was suprising her.
"I'm not going to get hurt, give me some more credit than that. Believe it or not, I was able to protect myself fine before you came along and I have no scars to show for it, though you have one for your troubles with ME. So it should be me who's worried about the protecting of you if any protecting's being done here." Kino said at last, licking the marking on his nose slowly and teasingly.

Kira blinked a little at the male and his quick escape. He soon shrugged it off however. Kira then turned to look at the dark colored female under him. He the smirked a little to her remark as he nibbled on her ear.
"Oh is that so?" He whispered into her ear after the nibble. He moved his weight off her but still kept her pinned to enjoy a little rest as well as a semi snuggle. but he suddenly got off and then moved to nudge her softly up once she was ready. He the followed her with a large smile on his face as well as showing off his wound with pride.
"Kino maybe we should join that pack thats around here. That way we don't get in trouble with them and I can rest easier." He said boldly as he looked to her hoping she would think it was a good idea.
He stopped walking to wait for answer as if to scared to move a step further since they had already come close to an encounter with a Hyena and thankfully they had been on good terms.
