U.P. Pasties

1 rolling pin
1 mixing bowl
1 cookie sheet

Ingredients

2 cups cubed cooked roast beef or raw hamburger
2 cups cubed raw potatoes
1/2 cup raw diced carrots
1/2 cup raw diced onion
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1 tablespoon chopped or dried parsley
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1 pastry for double 9 inch pie crust

Preperation

Mix ingredients in a bowl and set aside. Roll out 1/4 of the pastry crust dough onto a lightly floured surface to make an approximate 8 inch circle. Place 1/4 of the filling on half the circle and fold dough over. Press the edges to seal. Place on plain cookie sheet. Repeat with remaining pastry and filling. Cut slits in top. Bake at 450 degrees for 20 to 30 minutes, or until brown. Makes 4 pasties. Serve with gravey, plain, or ketchup.

I have not tryed this recipei yet. When I buy them from a restorant that sells them I usually eat them with ketchup. With this recipie you can put anythin in them, and put them in your lunch or backpack for hiking. This method of eating and storing food is one of the oldest ways and works vary well.
