The silvery orb that sat high above in the heavens was now rising higher to sit within the passing thickened clouds. Soon twilight would arrive which gave way to the bright sunny days as they came and went. Always, the light evolved and retracted in a pattern as if it were set upon a timer.

The bold stallion of the water turned from his mistress looking upward to the crest that sifted outward to a land he could only ponder, for his hooves dared not touch upon the terrain beyond his mother's embrace. It saddened him knowing most soquili were living out there somewhere, though he refused push past that point.

As the salty air pushed towards his back and hindquarters, he stared in awe of the high rising mountains and thick forested areas. Now that fall was almost in season, he noted the colors that hung from those high majestic trees, as they stretched as far as the eye could see. Is that where the sea maiden had traveled to beyond Eternity's watchful eye he wondered. Breathing deeply the smoky scent of burning fires in the native dwellings were strange and almost foreboding even. He was a bit intimidated, yet Mizu's curiosity was growing.

Stepping forward he let his hooves touch the harder ground.

A strange cry was heard in his ears, that of his mistress longing for his return. Ears swiveling the stallion snorted and tossed his great head. He longed to see the other land, though he could not forsake his mistress for his own foolishness. Rearing high he called out to the Sea that whispered his great name, "Mother. Womb that I lie within from the days of my birth, how you comfort and bade away that which brings harm. Trust... Trust you whisper in my heart, and I obey with hooves running toward your shores".

He called out once more before racing back into the frothy surf, letting the water coo and stroke his legs and body as if it were a gentle mother's touch.

He could never leave her side.

The night sky reflected off of Ayelet's eyes. The vision changed, as the clouds played with the moon. It changed the feel of the environment, giving everthing a sort of lively glow.

A heavy, slow breeze, invited her to try something new. Pushing forth, her hooves met the cold waters of the river. She paused there. On the other side, the forest. A dark edge stood it's guard, daring her to journey on. Shaking her head, as if in answer to it's call, she turned south. Be it water or forest, she had never been to the edge of either.

The light flow of the water pulled over her ankles. Time was forgotten, as she followed it's command endlessly. Her gaze, watching the heavens above.

She stumbled. More than once. Not watching where you were going, wasn't wise, when wadding through the river. She tried to be more caustious, peering down in search of the occasional rock. Once her eyes would focus on the stars that danced on the water's top, all hope was lost. Her eyes would then return to their home in the sky.

* * *

The moon now hung well above Ayelet. Her trance was broke with a bit of shock, as the water suddenly met her chest. Over time, the ground had slowly gave way to more water, but this was sudden.

She stopped moving, in a fit and a splash.

Everthing was different, she noticed. Where was she?

A faint cry was almost heard, but her tingling senses managed to muffle the sound. This was the waters end, yet not as she had imagined it would be. For it did not end, but instead swalloweed up the lands that she knew.

The smell, reminded her of rain, in the moments that it wet the dry earth. However a poor comparison it might be, it was the closest thing she knew.

And the sound? Was like that of a waterfall that had lost it's steady beat. The crash was at soft intervals, that didn't continue on, but faded on into the breeze.

As she listened, it carried a second cry in the distance.

Again she splashed about, as she began to move towards shore. She stopped. Was she going towards the sound? When she didn't even know why?

He stomped his hooves furiously letting deep grunts escape his muzzle. He was prisoner his heart cried aloud with another call that echoed deep in the night. No, he couldn't think that way, he wouldn't betray the one thing he'd known from foal hood till adult. Still it fully frustrated him that not even a hoof could overstep those bounds.

High above the Lady in the moon watched from a distance.

Her silvery glow beaconed to him which made the great water steed begin a gallop that pulled him swiftly throughout the water surrounding him. A vision, a dream that paced itself with each powerful thrust into the soft wet sand beneath him. As a spray of water spread outward he picked up the pace into a full magnificent gallop letting all inhibitions released to the wind. He was angry yet sorrowful that such a fate was bestowed upon only him.

But, as things begin they normally end as his frustration sifted away deep into the night behind him. As his hooves settled into a canter than a trot he slowed to finish in a perfectly still stance, breathing deeply the salty air that invigorated his senses. Tossing his great head he snorted once more looking downward as the water rushed away from his feet, then snuck back once more. Forever moving, forever beautiful, how he loved his mother more than anything.

Blinking he stared deeply within the silvery glow lying around him, a faint yet beautiful aura resting upon each rolling wave. But, what caught his eye was something moving in the distance, an almost strange image of a sunset that played in the rolling surf.

Breathing deeply he walked slowly, his tail swishing back and forth in curiosity. At first he thought the winged bird had returned, but no this was something completely different. With each step forward he realized it was a mare that had come into his kingdom. Light flowing into colorful darkness enveloped her entire form with curled locks, deep as her lower legs.

He wondered who she was and where she hailed from, perhaps the land beyond the Sea's gaze. Walking closer he kept his distance yet neared her in observation wondering if she too like all the others could tame that burning frustration of what lied "out" there.

Lunadriel
Lowering her head straight with her neck, she peered forward into the distance. Her eyes struggled to place source to the cries. The sea air made it difficult. Her ears tuned in, as she heard another call. Following shortly after, a figure came into near view, thrashing through the waters. She thought she could make it out to be another soquili.

Raising her head up, she watched as they began to move about. The ghost like form, was silhoetted by the moons cast of light. He almost blended perfectly into the life of the sea. Yes, it was indeed a stallion.

Unmoving, she watched with intent as he rounded near. Another beat joined in drowning song, opposing that of the waters. It was her heart, racing madly. She was equally frightened and excited.

The mud sucked at her hooves as she moved them from their long place of standing. The tide had made her almost root in the sea. Bounding from one side to the next, she threw her mane into the air and called into the night. It was an eerie, yet entirely beautiful greeting, that pierced the nights calm.

Rein_Carnation
He stood still as the night as his eyes focused deeply upon her. She wasn't of the Sea, but she did speak in colors bolder than any subdued tone as it carried with her. As the waves crashed upon the shoreline it was a melodic sound that carried deep within his soul. A faint yet beautiful voice only a mother could emit, haunting and Eternal. As the gulls flew overhead he almost smiled, for they with the ocean's muse were one in the same. The air and the Sea, one but many combined with one another.

He stepped closer this time still watching with only the repeated deep breathing that billowed through his great nostrils. A faint mist escaping as the water soaked and seeped into his oceanic coat.

Her voice seemed foreign to him as she called out yet he was intrigued by it nearing even closer. He closed his eyes a moment before raising his own head back releasing a deep whinny that mingled with the passing tide. It was his own tribute to his mother and a welcome to the brightly colored mare that had ventured quite far.

Nodding his head he returned his gaze upon her wondering what things she had passed in her journey to his home. He could only fathom the great spires of the mountains and what lie beyond.

Breathing softly though his voice was rather deep he uttered one word, "Welcome". It was rather subtle yet he meant it to be an invitation.Besides the appearance of the red macaw stallion, and the wind lord, only the Sea Maiden had been his only other guest. And even though he wanted them to stay longer, he believed that nothing would ever be stable or confined. For water was a great entity that forever traveled and played to her heart's content. Bringer of life and emotion, she was indeed the mother of all that survived.

Lunadriel
Waiting for the wind to blow. Watching, as he pulled slowly near. Listening, as his voice rang clear.

Her eyes swelled at his display and resounding call of the wild. She smiled, for it seemed that he held the very essence of the frothy waves themselves. He was swirled with the waters movement, both in his hair, his coat, and laying low in the bellow of his voice. Even the fluidity in which he moved through the shore. All told a living story of who this stallion might be.

Bringing her head down gracefully, she bowed to his 'Welcome'. Closing her eyes, she remained still for a moment. "I am honored.." she began to speak, rising her head in search of his gaze. "..to be here." she finished with a gaze to the sea. Wherever here might truly be.

A soft breeze played in the curls of her hair. She didn't turn her head back to the stallion. For the first time, something other than the sky above was captivating her. It was the horizon as she had never seen it before. Here the water touched the sky in perfect harmony. It made her long for the morning to come, so she could see the sun hug the waters.

As if the stranger had been watching the very same thing she had, she whispered softly, with a short pause between the two words, "It's beautiful."

Rein_Carnation
His eyes were entranced, as they fell deeply in her colored coat, though he seemed to be staring upwards at the radiant sky as she. Each breath of the sea calling upwards to the realm of the sky a domain for those that carried feathery appendages upon their backs. This mare, here in front of him, carried no sort so she must of arrived from the outlet that lead into the birth of the river. the place where he usually stopped to drink occasionally, was his only attempt at seeing the rest of the world. His mistress, always cradling his thoughts, kept a tight grip upon his heart.

"Yes it is" he breathed with a deepness rumbling from his great chest, "All that exists in this world sets a scene of everlasting beauty." He watched her for a moment then let his gaze follow outward to the soft murmur of the rolling waves, a song of mystery and wonder.

"Are you from the other land that steps always away from my footfall?" he queried still keeping his ears and eyes trained upon the movement that stretched outward for a million miles it seemed.

Finally he turned to look at her again,"I am Mizu, The lord and caretaker of this land." His voice once again seemed o bellow against the crashing waves, yet there was a gentleness that surrounded his thoughts and heart.

"What do I have the interest to call you by fair one, if I may ask of your namesake?"

Perhaps knowing each other's information and names would make a conversation much more interesting.

Lunadriel
She stood, her jaw temporarily unhinged, as she stared. Her lips didn't part however, so she didn't gape noticeably. Even the quiet crash of the waves at her side didn't easily draw her attention.

It made sense when he spoke of everlasting beauty. "It is, just as you say. I stand in awe of it's magnificence." She was greatful for chosing the river as her path now, instead of the dark forest. Her journey was proving to be very rewarding. She hadn't expected much, but just followed rather. This was a beautiful finish.

She raised an eyebrow over her pitch black eye with a golden iris, turning to look now, at the stallion. "I am, as you say, from the other land." Her mind swam with the meaning of such a question. Did this mean he lived here?

Mizu.. she repeated his name in her mind. So he is in fact, the keeper of the seas. Her head tilted slightly as she curiously imagined details of his life.

She bowed. "I am Ayelet Hashachar, named after the Morning Star." A long introduction, but she wanted to have some match to his. Pulling her head up, she added "You may call me Ayelet."

"Please, Mizu.." she pronounced two syllables of his name with respect. "...I'd like to know more of the role you play, as the caretaker of this land." she finished politely. That can hardly be a coincidence.. she thought, in response to him being part of the sea. She found him intriguing already, no matter the answer.

Rein_Carnation
A role he played, a keeper of the Sea as she called and beaconed to him in a breath's notice. He felt himself a master of the tides though he wasn't of the fish species. From little on up he galloped down and back on the way to adulthood over the sands of time that slowly sifted and returned from whence they came.

"I've lived here, " he spoke deeply, "since I can remember." He smiled hearing the soft song that pushed through the waves like a child seeking something grand. "So a suppose I'm like a caretaker over my mother which is the Sea. The constant waves as they murmur sweet songs have called to me for what seems an Eternity."

He watched her now seeing that curiosity seep through as water recedes from a sponge when its too full to retain anything more. Imagine someone from another place coming to a destination they've never stepped upon before. He felt that deep inside when he stepped on the outskirts of the beach. A hunger for knowledge yet fear of making another saddened if he were to leave.

So lost yet so far away. That's how Mizu felt thinking of things beyond his comprehension. She on the other hand could visit any place she wished.

Why then did Ayelet come here to the bed of the ocean, a place of his sanctuary when there were thousands of things and places she could of visited?

But contemplating this wasn't necessary since she was indeed here.

"Tell me Ayelet of the other realms, what lies over the outskirt of the beaches? Where the turf becomes grass that stretches for miles. Where the shadowed giants rise high into the ocean of air above? Indulge me with what I can never set foot or gaze upon." His words were deep yet the soul within him was yearning for closure of his wonderment.

She seemed to him of the sunset he usually gazed into nightly. For the ocean was a beautiful performer with the sun dipping downward as her mate. Both in harmony they lit the sky with radiance then drowned away to darkness which was known as night.

Lunadriel
She only began to fathom what Mizu was saying. "You've...never left the sea?" she blinked up at the mysterious blue stallion. She didn't feel pity, and how could she? This place was beautiful.

But...wouldn't it get lonely? Her heart sank at just a taste of such a burden. She was alone too, but company was never far away if she so desired it. Life was everywhere, and those living it covered the lands just about anywhere.

She shook her head slightly. "How could I even begin to explain such elements of life, that you've only longed to imagine?" Her eyebrows shielded her face with a gentle softness, an expression that could of turned sad, but she smiled warmly.

Her eyes closed as she drew in a slow deep breath, imagining the land at it's best. She could only think of one answer. "Mizu.." she spoke his name as if she knew him, like the voice of a friend. "..ten minutes before the sunrise, no matter where you are, everything changes.

"Everything sounds better,
everything looks brighter,
everything feels better."

Her head subtly nodded emotion into her words. "Colors change, if only for a short moment, the leaves, the grass, the rocks, the air....they all look different. Each place being given new meaning by the suns glow." She shrugged a small laugh, unsure of herself as she shook her head towards one shoulder. "If you've seen a place before, you could see it twice through the eyes of the sunrise."

Rein_Carnation
As the waves crashed upon the shoreline the gulls cried outward causing a harmonious interlude filled with fantasy and wonderment. The sky changing from black to vibrant mellowed shades, morning would arrive in a few hours.

As the stallion listened to the mare's gentle words he felt a deep sense of longing, knowing himself of these numerous things. Colors. Yes he witnessed hues unlike any other, for the ocean meeting the sky is unlike any witnessed by someone that's never laid eyes upon it. Like a sparling light show at night, the day rising and setting was a canvas only the creator could muster. Everything that came and went never ceased, for the day it would his mistress would surely be saddened for an Eternity.

But, rocks changing, and leaves for a certain amount of time also were of interest. Sand never changed, though it glowed under the sun's influence on day's of the summer moments. Glistening diamonds that seemingly lied spread out for miles and miles. Then without warning the curving tendrils of the water would snatch up great heaps leaving hallows in their place. This was his day, his night in a home he'd known forever. While others came and went he stood with time, a sire of the sea.

"Words have great color if the speaker wishes them that way. Even with your subtle descriptions you've painted a canvas for my wonderment Miss Atelet." He nodded tossing his great head feeling his mane whipping outward like the stretching ocean. As the water misted upon those whipping locks, the ends of his mane shimmered like the frothy depths.

"In a few hours you will see sunrise as it creeps over this realm. Care to stay and witness what you speak of change? I'm sure that your heart may even stop. For I never grow old of witnessing the mother and father as they dance their waltz across the horizon."

He smiled deeply at her, curious to her thoughts as she breathed the salty atmosphere around them.

Lunadriel
Her surroundings became only a backdrop, as her curiosity focused on the peculiar stallion, she had only just met. The current ebbed at her feet, demanding some notice, and she didn't indulge it's command.

"There's so much more to tell though.." Her thoughts swam in the distant lands, away from the tide in which she still stood. She thought of the forest, and it's harvest colored leaves. Something so simple before, now seemed so grand a display.

She digressed from her thoughts for a moment, blinking through mist at Mizu. "Of course!" she gasped, her feet splashing a bit in barely contained excitement. She regained her cool momentairly. "I would want nothing more, than to see the morning sing it's song upon this place." A chill swept over her, her coat and mane jerking about for only an instant. Maybe she was cold, her coat being wet for so long. Maybe..it was the idea of watching something as glorious as a new sunrise, in a place like this, with the mysterious stallion she had just met.

Her eyes betrayed her, looking not to the sky in which they spoke. They scanned Mizu with a different look, as if she was seeing him for the first time, this time with wonderment. She was curious to see what he would look like under the suns early cast.

A stong wind blew a spraying mist of water over her. She laughed as she squirmed under it's soft shower. It was freezing cold. She looked to meet Mizu's eyes and smiled. Another shiver broke down her spine. This time, it was because she was cold for second, but it passed. She would of spoke, if she hadn't been so caught up in the moment.

Rein_Carnation
Mizu himself was both tugged by this beautiful mare and his mistress' call in her loud yet gentle siren song. Except for the arrival of the stallions and the fading winged wave, Mizu had never met another mare that held as much reason to stay as the sea ran her gauntlet.

He wouldn't deny being curious for water held curiosity like no other. Gentle, compassionate, always seeping into something to simply be there. Ayelet's coat was like the sunset he noted so many times standing in the ebb and flow of his homeland and sanctuary. Had she been blessed by the father sun to carry his beauty settling into the outskirts of night?

He hadn't realized he was drowning within her coat as his thoughts pushed away the sea into his own bliss. Though the thundering waves pushed against him, Mizu was lost in the moment himself, as if Eternity herself had stopped time, not realizing that minutes, hours were passing as they stood still as a cliff overlooking a distant reef.

The sky overhead began to lighten gradually, starting first from the sea's baseline then to the horizon above. A dazzling purple and pink painting the black canvas to a soft watercolor painting.

Her words then finally reached him as if the Dawn rising had snapped the great stallion out of a mystical spell, "Much more to tell?" he repeated as his eyes lighted with the Dawn now letting the sun start his journey upward. The waters already warming around their strong legs. Noticing her shiver he motioned to the mare to follow him towards the higher beach so she could begin to warm. "The sea is a wondrous thing, but too much of her love can quickly turn one saddened with sickness and despair. Come the sun is rising. Its a much better view here."

Then he walked slowly so she could follow stretching her legs in the meantime.

Lunadriel
She looked to Mizu, watching as his coat seemed to darken before the first sign of the dawns early light.

Everything felt so calm and she almost lost herself in what felt it could go on forever. That is, until he spoke again. It brought her back to earth, and with it, the realization that she was convulsing with shivers from the colds bite. She locked her knees, bracing the shivers till they almost dissipated.

"Well yes. I believe there would always be more to tell, of lands in which one has yet to see." she mused as she began to follow him. Her legs were stiff and heavy as they moved out from the depth of the waters. "I could even tell of places in which I have yet to see myself, but have expeirenced just by being close to them."

Her mind gave deep thought into his exsistence. She never met, nor imagined anyone-soquili that would be bound to one location. Would she of thought it any different if it had been a soquili stuck in the forest, or some other land based location? She decided it didn't matter where ones home was, as long as it was heart felt.

Her head cocked to the side. She couldn't help but ponder it even more. But couldn't one leave and still call another place home? Only to return to it when it needed? She was thinking to much, and it wasn't really her place to ponder such things.

Rein_Carnation
He moved like a lucid wave, his tail flailing in the opening breeze that accompanied the tide. Whipping like its own form of water it remained silken smooth occasionally returning to lie upon his neck. In essence he was a single drop of water that remained loyal to the entire ocean laid out before him.

The light shimmered over the shoreline in the vibrant pinks and blues as they became brighter with each rise toward the heavens. Though Ayelet was more sunset, as the sun lifted in his journey she too lightened in his rising. Colorful. Indeed she mirrored the gallant deity of the sky as the Goddess stirred beneath him.

"Intrigue me of the trees and the stones that lie beneath one's feet in this distant place, the air and the coldness that flows from the highest spires." he murmured still entranced of the sun's beauty that reflected upon her coat. Standing this far from the Sea, the warming rays would soothe her chills helping her to regain strength once more.

The gulls appeared in the horizon seeking breakfast as always, but there was a new sense of curiosity that filled him. What if he were to leave his land for only a bit as he accompanied Ayelet he wondered. Would his mistress be so bold to call him back if a guest was present?

The thought was rather tempting to say the least. He wanted to see this other world as she described it, if only for a span of the breath he exhaled.

Lunadriel
A song could be heard in the silence in which they now stood. A melody rolled off the waves and seemed to paint the canvas before her. Mizu's dark coat now began to turn a beautiful blue as if the sun itself had warmed color to his coat. She scanned his mane, and his face. She almost blushed orange as she realized he was looking at her with equal awe. Instead her eyes shifted, and bounced to the side and all around, exept back to looking at him.

She did look at him as he began to carry on the conversation again. Ayelet took a deep breath, indulging the suns rays as she thought of the forest. It was the most intriguing place she knew.

"Mizu, I could tell of the forest? It holds many trees it seems, and much more I'm sure." She grinned sheepishly and hung her head at an angle, a look of playful shame. "I have only seen it from the outside though, I'm afraid." Looking to his face, she waited to see if he was interested before she began to ramble on.

She thought back to the early evening of now yesterday. She had sized up the forest, and followed the river instead. She couldn't help but be sure that this was the better choice.

Rein_Carnation
The more her words filled his pallet of knowledge the more he wanted to experience it. The sea seemed to grow louder in his ears as she weaved her sweet passionate siren song in his entire being. Every inch of muscle and bone, blood and skin was being pulled toward her endless cry to keep him by her side. He felt wronged, incapable of turning his back on a mistress that gave him purpose. A solitary life amongst his vast kingdom that only "he" could ever maintain.

But, Mizu was thinking past the barred path, a direct rebellion to satisfy what he had never known. He promised his mistress in his mind he'd return once he was fulfilled, surely she couldn't deny him that privilege to simply enjoy the other world that was green and beautiful just out of his reach.

Turning to face the calling curiosity he lingered there inhaling the drifting scent of pine and deciduous trees giving way to fall and winter. He had finally made up his mind, feeling consequence would be given later for his misdemeanor.

As his head slid back to look into Ayelet's eyes he stood incredibly still listening to her voice, as he gained strength to enter this new escapade.

"Ayelet, before you continue I want you to follow me with no questions asked. If I so much as ponder, a simple lingering on what I'm about to do... I'll loose myself forever." He snorted letting his breath escape one last time before he turned toward the distant far reaching spirals.

He would come back, for he could never leave his mistress. It was just he needed to sate what was gnawing at his heart. Surely the sea, the grand mother of all would understand such a request of someone she passionately cared for and adored.

Then with a flick of his tail as it whipped around him, he reared upward and called a long loud sound. As his feet hit the ground he charged up over the sand dunes and into the other world that he'd always wondered about. Even though she called out to him he kept running.

Mizu just had to find what was tempting him day after day.

Lunadriel
She blinked at his next words, hanging on everyone. The task seemed so simple, yet she knew that it meant so much more than that. He was going to do it, he would leave his waters. He spoke almost as if it would never happen, if he didn't do it now.

She shook her head with a quiet seriousness. Her words weren't needed, and she would follow him now as he started a venture away from his sea.

Her heart speed, suddenly, she was nervous about the whole thing. Is he sure about this? she thought all too breifly, as he reared with great power, calling into the morning air. The sound drowned out that of her speeding heart, pulling on her chest. A sense of remorse could be felt, and it almost made her cry. She didn't have time.

Mizu was on the move. Ayelet drew in a deep breath, watching as the sand recorded his path. In a fit of movement, she took off after him. She would lose him if she didn't move now. She sped as fast as she could, closing some of the distance between them.

Her mane danced as her head bobbed to the beat of her hooves. She followed up over the dunes, slowing at it's depth under her weight. Leaping at the last moment, she cleared it's height. She turned for a moment, to glipse at the hoove prints they had left behind. It was a momentus sight.

A wild instinct pushed over her as she moved with passion, turning back, to continue following Mizu. Every muscle in her body moved with precision and speed. Her eyes, looking to see where she was being led. How far would he travel? It didn't matter where, only that she continued to follow.

Rein_Carnation
He didn't care where he ran as the cry of the ocean grew fainter with every stride beating further into the Earth beneath him. Odd sights were just sailing past as the water used to with his various romps past his mistress that sang softly to him every minute of the day. He'd run on forever to regain those imprisoned senses that she had kept from him.

For what seemed hours on end he kept his speed the same as his head pushed outward even further. Only when he finally reached an open expanding meadow of browning grasses and golden weeds did he come to a complete stop. Far ahead still stood those massive spirals, though now he could actually scent the wintry air and aroma of pine from the forest that was around him. No longer was the ocean within his eyes, nose, or ears, even his mouth could not taste the salty air that woke him every morning and night. Such a strangeness closed in upon him as his great chest heaved and exhaled great puffs of air.

This world was indeed strange.

For what used to be sand that swallowed his feet, he now stood upon solid turf. The air had many smells including trees, wildlife, and other things he couldn't recognize. It was indeed beautiful but yet the vastness was intimidating all in the same reaction. He turned slowly hoping to see Ayelet in this place as well. His decision had been rash, but he was appalled that he could never do this sooner.

Lunadriel
Mizu was fast. Ayelet used every ounce of power she had, to catch up to him. She could only get so close though, his stride being wider than hers. It wouldn't stop her from following. Rarely, she would get close enough to feel a clod of dirt being kicked up onto her ankles, form Mizu's back hooves.

Her chest began to burn. She tried not to think about it, and focused on the stallion in front of her. Her pace began to slow, and her head, to ache. It was more of a run, than she would of ever taken on her own, nor knew she could.

When she thought she might fail at keeping up, Mizu came to a sudden stop. She slowed down to a heavy trot, her body almost seeming as if it didn't know how to walk after a long run. Taking in a deep breath, she forced herself to walk very slowly. As he turned towards her, she offered him a faint smile that shined even brighter in her eyes.

"Such valor." she said got close enough for him to hear, her voice wavering at her shortness of breath. Her chest was pulling in air fast, and her heart boomed it's presence throughout her body. Looking to his face, she wondered what he was thinking now.

Rein_Carnation
The trees were different here as the air was cooler. Much cooler actually as it drifted past him in a wisp through his mane and tail. The smell of deadened autumn was falling asleep, waiting for winter's first snowfall. The ground held no sandy texture, lying hardened and flat beneath his powerful hooves. Nostrils breathing in and outward of this strange place that alienated him from his mistress' embrace. Is this perchance why the great lady had protected the troublesome youth from this very place? Feeling lost for a moment he pondered running back to her, leaving this obscene dream far behind him. But what would that justify leaving Ayelet here while he retreated to the sea once more he pondered.

No. He wanted to see this land and he would. This is why the bold water stallion born of Eternity's song came to this place.

"Valor?" he repeated her words as his eyes sought something to ease the pangs of guilt he now felt, "What have I done?" His eyes held that regret as far in the distance he swore the Sea was crying. What monster would simply abandon one that brought you love and understanding his mind told him.

Turning to look at her, he searched for reason of why impulsive nature would set a trigger of regret and sadness within him.

Still he heard the soft sobs as they drifted from a far off place. ...

Lunadriel
A chilled breeze threw Ayelets curls into her face. It caused her to turn against the wind in order to keep the blue locks from blurring her eyes. Flipping her head, she managed to get her hair blowing to the back side of her neck, instead of all over her face. The wind made her shiver, her body heated from the run.

She wondered if Mizu felt the cold too. She didn't imagine it felt too different, thinking how cold she was standing in the waters shallows. But he was used to the waters..

Taking a couple steps forward, she pulled in closely, to look up to Mizu's face. This wasn't his home, it was apparent as she watched him. How odd it must seem, new yes, but still strange. A well of feelings and wisdom coursed through her mind, trying to understand how he might feel. For the first time, she realized that this was what having a place to call 'home', might and should, feel like. A place well known and desired, one that you could always return to.

"Mizu..." her voice demanded attention with a serene softness. She scanned for his eyes, wanting him to look into hers for a moment. "..it took great strength to do what I imagine, you've only thought about for all your life." her words were careful. "You may return to your home at any time, for it will always be there, waiting for you."

She was feeling bold. Stretching her neck forward and up, she nudged the side of his cheek gingerly then pulled away. "You've done nothing wrong, brave friend." Turning now to one side, she moved out from in front of him, to stand at a close angle. This way, if he needed to return now, instead of soon, he at least didn't have to move around her.

Standing there, a faint, warm smile was offered to Mizu. She didn't want him to regret coming this far.

It was all too overwhelming, and for a moment he was ready to pull into a hard fast gallop and leave this cursed place behind. Now he was rightfully angry and understood what his mistress was trying to tell him. But, he wanted closure to what lied far away, enough to make him ponder what lied on the other side of the dunes as he stood still waiting. Now, his day had finally arrived and what was he doing? Murmuring his sins in succession with his guilt he grew angry he'd let himself feel this barren. Imagine the lord of the sea acting like a pitiful whelp confused and unabridged in his thinking. Nothing more than a foal's bewilderment as he stood with his tail between his legs.

No. His way of thinking right now was inexcusable. He had drug Ayelet into this mess with him. It was his responsibility that she was returned safely. But looking outward at those tall peaks his curiosity was advancing further. How far did those spires lie from where they stood he wondered.

His ears swiveled to listen to her, pondering the mare's words with a heartfelt response. "No. I won't return just yet, not till my feet touch upon those shadows that lie so far away. Only then will I be satisfied to stand before my mistress and show that I have found what I sought."

He then looked deeply within her own eyes and momentarily smiled as the disarray faded into oblivion. Perhaps with her there, to step upon the base of those massive creations would he find the courage to go there.

"Will you venture with me to the foot of those towering giants? It is very unlike my nature to seek more than what I've known for almost all my life. Consider it a rarity."

Swishing his tail he looked out toward those large peaks noting the clouds that dipped around them. Only there the wingeds and possible flutters roamed. Where the angeni and kalona may of found solace being up so high.

That is where he longed to go... and he would.

And so it is, Mizu had made a stand and wouldn't return home so soon. A wave of relief came over her, she felt funny, as she realized that she would of been a little sad if he had left. With such a climatic event, it didn't seem like the right ending. Good her mind rang the word loudly, it was only to show in her face as her soft smile twinkled in her eye.

"Well, I would gladly continue this venture. We are in charge of what we learn after all." She gazed at the distant lands, cocking her head to the side in puzzlement. "Come to think of it, I've never even thought about going to the sky rocks." It was true. She had seen them, but never close enough to stir the desire of exploration. "Let's go for it." she said with a matter of fact tone, like the destination was already written in stone. She didn't mind in the least, journeying even farther into the depths of the land, with Mizu, the stallion of the sea.

It was as if they were both small foals, without the leash of a mother nearby. They could explore anything, go anywhere, be who they wanted to be. For Ayelet, she wanted to be the one that helped Mizu find his way, wherever that might be. She couldn't help but feel entangled in his choice to know the lands. It had already been set in motion, and she had followed. She wouldn't stop following now, not after such an intense start.

This would be an adventure to remember. A rarity indeed, that she had not only found the seas, and met the swirl covered Mizu, but had been there when he set out to land for the first time. She wouldn't of traded it for anything, certain that destiny had her be there for a reason. How she reacted to what was happening, that was what she was in charge of.

Looking on to Mizu, she waited, ready to move on when he was. A dry feeling made her toungue paste to the roof of her mouth. "We could look for fresh water along the way. I believe I'm a bit thirsty." she said.

Rein_Carnation
His own enthusiasm had over taken him forgetting that she was not of the sea. For some reason he never drank much himself as his mistress is what discovered and quenched his thirst. But now an odd feeling overcame the grand sire as he realized what "thirst" was being away from his element.

Now soaking in her own words he nodded to her quest of parching her throat, "I've never dealt with such things as this before, and now I feel as if my thirst has been born within me. Yes. Let us find a drink for I am feeling as if the summer sun absorbed all I contain and am."

Turning his head upward he inhaled great air the forest lingered with misty overtones. It was rather refreshing to his seaside lungs, but that was later for now he desired a drink rather soon. How long they had traveled, how far they'd gone, was anyone's guess to where they arrived. His perception of this area brought him the crystal clear sound of fresh flowing water perhaps a quarter mile from where they stood. There was also something a little closer nestled deeper in the wood. So with a toss of his head he ventured forward toward the source knowing full well that Ayelet would follow.

Like a horse drawn to water like the old saying goes, Mizu had no problem discovering the potential stream that called to his as a mother's breast attracts her child. Dipping his head downward he took in the freshwater delighting in the flavor and crispness nature had to offer. Perhaps they would rest here a bit before traveling onward to those great Peaks settling off in the far distance.

He turned to gaze at her again, the colors of her coat so relaxing as if she were the sunset that he absorbed inward daily settling behind his Mistress' watch. "Ayelet have you anyone waiting for your return as my mistress awaits me?" he queried with curiosity almost nonchalant but still in interest to the one that was accompanying him.

Her tongue was solid, sticking to the roof of her mouth. "Imagine how it will feel to drink that thirst away then." she played. His talk of thirst seemed grand, yet only heightened her own thirst. She too, felt the presence of water in the not too far.

Her feet picked up their pace, heading after the blue explorer. Her pace slowed as the trees became dense. She stopped for a moment, almost afraid to look up. Her eyes slowly trailed up, looking for their canvas. It wasn't as she expected, and was quite intriguing. The trees didn't snuff the sky, but rather broke it up into patches.

Her attention returned to the earth, falling quickly as she heard Mizu address her. She stood there. After wetting her tongue, she answered. "I have no one, but the sky. I am drawn to it, as you are your sea. It captivates me and keeps a blanket over me, wherever I go." She smiled softly, as she stepped towards the stream, forgetting the sky again. Only, because she knew it was still there.

It somehow felt unfair, that she still had her sky, but he was without her sea.

Approaching the stream, she leaned into it, stopping for a second to barely see the stars reflection amongst the mixed branches. It was cheating to look there, but only a little.

Dipping her muzzle into the stream, she let it fill her mouth and glide down her throat. Her eyes shut, keeping her from straining to see that reflection again, at such a close range. It would of only showed the ripples, no reflection anymore.

He listened as still the precious life force flowed into his welcoming throat as the coolness calmed everything he felt unbalanced about. He now understood why it was crucial for the soquili of the outward lands to divulge and saturate in deep amounts of something he took for granted. Flicking his ears back and forth he remained focus on Ayelet and her words that flowed as freely as this spiring itself.

His eyes widened slightly, for like himself she only carried the embrace of the sky with her. strange how two may be alike yet stretch across horizons in different paths and ideals.

"I see... you are like myself yet your sky you are bonded with carries you wherever your dreams are desired. I almost feel cheated that my mistress the Lady of the sea kept me restricted in that place for so very long." His words held a bit of coarseness mingled with bitterness as he pondered his previous life alone.

He made his mind up, he would go to those spires... and only when his curiosity was cured would he return to listen to the Sea once again.

"I think we better stay here for the night and rest. Those high spires look a long way off and I think you should be well rested before we go." He looked over at her wondering how she was feeling being drug along on one heck of an adventure as this. She seemed quite willing to follow, which he respected her for. Company was always a blessing heading into things unknown or uncertain.

The spring filled her mouth and cooled her pallet. Her senses tingled with the refreshing wet touch, as it glided down her throat. The cold spring stung in the warmth of her belly for a second, before it began to warm. She couldn't help but drink more than she needed. Finally realizing how much water she had drank, she stopped, pulling up to glance towards Mizu.

She tilted her head towards him. "Don't feel cheated Mizu, your sea has paid you homage with it's crashing waves, for a long time." she said with a certain calm to her voice. She only began to imagine what it would be like, if she could only see the sky in one place out of all the lands. It might just hold her like the sea had him. "My sky is sometimes hidden behind clouds and storms for days on end, leaving me without. I know that it is still there though, as is your sea."

A great tall tree took Ayelets attention, with the mention of staying here for a good nights rest. Turning to Mizu, she nodded over towards the tree as she took a few light paces through the stream she had just drank from. "This tree looks like it's extending a welcome to us." She said, looking now at the big ominous roots that extended like tendrils threw the earth all about. One of the roots jutted up in a high curve that almost reached her chest. A wave. she told herself as she looked at its shape.

Turning around, she folded her front knees first, and proceeded to relax on the ground near the tree. It was an evergreen, covered with thick dense branches that loomed a canopy far beyond the reach of it's roots.

For hours the gallant lord of the sea could stand amongst the chilling waves of his mistress and never once feel frigid or numb. Though standing away from the churning rolling waves, he felt a sense of loneliness and cold. His muscles twitched but he refused to acknowledge this being in the presence of the brave mare that found sanctuary being in his company.

Letting his gaze wander toward the tree she had pointed out, the water stallion nodded and followed with a swish of his tail. Here in this vast wilderness even then did his fluid movements still shine through as if the sea were completely enveloped around him protectively.

Walking over slowly he waited for her to settle herself till he stood close to her protectively. Over the course of time he had heard things at the ocean, menacing calls and sounds that echoed from these lands. He was drifting to sleep, yet never would he fully rest his eyes on the account of an attack or sudden intrusion. He had trained himself at the sea to catch strange smells and sounds even in a deep sleep. As long as his mother was stirring as was he.

"Tomorrow we will meet the great spires I'm sure, even if I shall push to my last breath. I shall see them before my mistress ever greets or loathes my return. Sleep well Ayelet and I shall watch over you. Dream endless dreams as the sound of the sea still calls toward us as does your rolling sky."

Finally a siren's song touched him lightly, a gentle kiss goodnight as the heavy lidded stallion took one last look at the pretty mare below him. He'd never hold her there against her will, though somehow he wished she'd return with him back to the ocean after his curiosity was sated..

But, with how he was understanding mares since Asherah...they were wild like waves never able to be tamed. Such was his fate of being a stallion he supposed. For now he'd grant memory to all the time she deemed worthy with him.

Lunadriel
The ground was firm and cold, almost like stone against her body. There were too many roots tangled below the soil, making it less comforting to make a bed out of. She had never slept on the forest floor before.

With a watchful eye, she observed Mizu as he came towards her, seeing life in his hair, even still. It was one thing to see it in the water, or on the long run, but even now, with no wind or water to keep it so. It mystified her. He did indeed, even now, seem to belong to the sea. She vowed that she would make sure he returned. No, it wasn't her business, but if it wasn't for her, he might not of ever left in the first place. It was almost as if she should be the one protecting him, but she knew better. This stallion has marked by determination.

She breathed deeply. She had barely drew in a breath as she watched him come stand over her. Resting her chin lightly on top of her leg, she sighed. "Thank you." she said. It was all she could think of as sleep began to pull at her mind. Her eyes watched him tower over her as long as she could will them to. She fought against the sleep for as long as she could, before she was pulled under.

Her chest heaved slowly, balanced in a deep sleep. She began to dream effortlessly. In her dream, she found herself standing in the stars, as if it were an ocean. Her hair swam in the sky, filled with twinkles of the nights gems. Her coat broke out around her, spreading color and light into the sky. It was as if meant to be, a mirror of Mizu and his sea.

Mizu dozed himself grunting to jolt awake at a simple sound or as the trees sighed with each sway of their dense needles or remaining leaves. He watched her breathing deeply, fighting to stay awake in this strange land that not even she was familiar with. His nostrils breathing out and in the scent of pine, flowing water, and wilderness causing him to be alert even as he finally sank submerged into a slumber.

Within this mist that surrounded him he saw himself galloping over the sandy beach he had known from the day his eyes were opened. Once a langly colt his strong forelegs and hind quarters had carried him into the sleek stallion that rippled and swayed in his movements and words. Once calm the next a maelstrom as the waves carried onward, always returning back to the sea. His mane and tail flowing around him as the ebb and flow of his mistress that guided him. Always moving he traveled under the sky that had always been there. A canvas of painted lights upon pitch black that sometimes carried purples and blues reflecting off the water in shimmering resonance.

As he galloped onward with the sea as his companion and love he traveled toward something that was driving him, hearing a voice whisper softly within his ear.

"Sweet Mizu of my changeling sea. Decide your heart's desire and be fulfilled. Only then will you return back into my arms and dream once again, traveling over my breath and life. I will always be waiting for you..." she spoke as her hands touched upon his mane and neck, fingers curving softly in an embrace before she faded away.

The stallion bolted awake his heart beating so swift and fierce as his mane and tail wiped back and forth like the torrent of the sea. A dream was it? No his mistress had been searching for him he was sure. Breathing with a new refined hope he understood she could never be cross or angry with him, for his mother, the mistress of the flowing tide loved him as her own. Looking downward at Ayelet he smiled to himself then drifted back to sleep letting the ocean sweep him away once more as his muscles relaxed.

This day would be their journey, and however long it lasted he'd forever remember the courage that one mare from another world had given him.

The sun peeked down through the bare branches, finding rest on Ayelets eyelids. The warmth slowly pulled at her deep sleep, lulling her closer towards consciousness. She drew in a slow breath and leaned over to her side slowly, not wanting to wake up just yet. Her eyes flitted as they began to open.

Too her brief surprise, her eyes took in the sight of a most mystical looking scene. The light had only begun to shine around her, illuminating everything in a dream like morning glow of the softest golden orange. Ayelets lungs filled with a sigh. It was beautiful.

Then she remembered why she had been here. It hadn't been a dream that she followed the ocean misted stallion for a trek away from his home in the sea. Blinking her eyes to wake herself more, she glanced up at Mizu. He had been standing there throughout the entire night. His hair was still streaming about him with a life of its own. He seemed to be slumbering still. She remained still, watching him quietly. A daydream filled her eyes as she imagined her dream of the stars again. It gave her peace to have such wonderful dreams. The inspiration, standing here before her.

She smiled and turned her head to the side, looking through the trees to the towering rocks that would end their journey. From where she lay, she couldn't see them, but she knew they were there. What would they find when they got there? Letting the thought consume her, she stared off for a moment.

Rein_Carnation
As the morning was breaking from twilight, the sun glistened off dew settled upon the waking leaves. The fresh smell of deciduous and evergreen settling in as the world once again began anew. Another day was begining and yet the ocean influenced stallion was so far from reaching his much desired goal.

Towering giants as huge as titans soared upward, causing the stallion to not even comprehend just how far away they truly were, from were his hooves lie. His thoughts drifting back to the sea to the destined goal he so badly wanted to reach. As his lucid flowing orbs stared outward, Mizu's mane tussled like an active sea. So far from home yet he felt this was his predestined goal, to reach something he only dreamed about for years.

Then with a great snort he returned to reality once more intaking the deep pines that hung downward. His thoughts returned him to his surroundings as he finally lied his gaze upon Ayelet. She was incredibly beautiful lying there in her own world. Lately he'd grown quite fond of her since she decided to let his fate shape hers. Reminding him of the rainbow skies that lingered morning and night, she was a calm that filled that lovely void. He respected her for coming with him this far, but yet he felt his ambition was a burden upon her.

Mizu was of course stubborn, feeling his fate was his own.

Once again he'd ask her before the journey resumed if she was sure this is what she really wanted. For it was true that a gentle caring and open soul would surely have other places to wander upon.

Like a mare mare he met previously before by the sea, Mizu would let Ayelet go a free wave if she wished. But, the stallion would morn her absence deeply if she chose to depart. Still it was her decision whatever fate had brought them.

Craning his head downward the stallion lipped at the grass, answering the pangs of his stomach as mornings always had. When full he brought his head upwards while clearing his throat, "Good Morning Ayelet. Beauty shines upon you once again," he commented with liquid eyes that soaked the mare in like a sponge. For a moment he pondered telling her she was free to go, but seeing her like this before him, the stallion needed her company. Finally he spoke to her, "Ayelet in a moment I'm about to resume this calling that drives me further from the sea," he spoke direct and strong "If you wish to consider this journey along my side, I bid you the consent to leave. But, if you truly feel your heart as much as mine drives me, then you are welcome by my side."

His eyes were searching for a glimmer, a hope she'd say yes. It was a silent request for her gentle words as soothing as the mistress of the sea singing to him. As if the sea had met the sky, Ayelet was like the rolling canvas above him mirrored in perfect hues. Beauty instated like a living dream, she was essence in itself.

He stood there waiting for her reply then he'd gallop till the tired muscles in his powerful legs demanded a rest. Soon he'd see those great towering masses and stand beneath them in his true glory. Only then could he return back from whence he came.

Lunadriel
Mizu was awake. Hearing his snort, she turned her head back slowly, watching him graze. She would have to eat too, in order to keep her strength for the journey. For now, she stayed where she was, not taking her eyes from the blue stallion. That is, until he looked her way. Breaking her gaze, she looked at the ground as she rose gently, using her knees to push her up to her hooves. Bits of earth had pressed into the coat of her belly while resting. They were dry, and would easily fall loosed before the mornings end.

She smiled. His comment of beauty making her feel like she was glowing. "Good morning to you." she said as her brows rose followed by a polite nod. Her eyes were scanning his face, watching him while she still could. The words that soon followed, she listened to carefully. Pondering what he was asking her, she tried to be as serious about it as she could. The answer was already known, without thinking about it. She would humor him, and consider the possibilities.

She closed her eyes. So far, she regretted nothing on her part. Wandering to the sea; meeting Mizu; sharing the moment where the rising sun touched the waters; following him as he braved, what was to him, the unknown. No regrets. What would she of done otherwise? Follow the stars without end until the sun rose in it's grand finally, only to continue another day by herself. She would feel alone, until the sun left the sky once again, starting a new night under the stars. She would wait for the morning, like she did every night.

Mizu's company, didn't rise and fall with the passing sun.

She felt a tinge of delight at the realization of it all. This seemed to give her new hope as to a purpose. Her mind hinted at possibilities she wasn't ready to think about yet. She had thought long enough.

Pulling her eyes open, she had her answer. "I think, any risk is worth taking, if it means being in good company..." Mizu's company.. "..and giving me.." A brief pause was made as she felt the sincerity of her words. "..a small purpose."

Ayelet had never felt without purpose. Nor had she thought about what could bring more purpose to who she was. Now - with Mizu here - it seems as if it is the most natural thing in the world. Purpose.

"There is no other way, I can imagine spending my time, now that I've followed you this far." and she meant every word. If she were to leave now, she would forever wonder how his journey ended.

This was her story too.

Rein_Carnation
Mizu never took his gaze from Ayelet as she gave her response to his concerned state of her well being. He had been in her presence way too much to simply let her vanish from his vigil, thanking the stars of her sky she was willing to follow him.

Looking toward the deep sky as the sun was rising he nodded, "It is settled then. We leave as soon as you're able, " swishing his tail he gazed back at the mountains that stood so regal in the distance.

I will stand before you... and she will be by my side...

He turned eagerly toward the mare whose coat shined of a new day, a new hope for him. His eyes liquid as the sea tranquil and lucid gazed back at her responding one word, "thank you." A softness that Mizu rarely showed in the presence of others if anyone ventured near his homeland. For now he was an outsider racing toward a dream, something only he and Ayelet now could accomplish.

When he was certain she was ready he reared upwards with a blazing light that reflected off his dazzling fluid eyes. Knowing she would follow he set into motion toward that dream, that feeling of a goal his mind. Hooves beating downward in thrusts of powerful hind legs. He'd only pause when she tired, for his body now was a raging inferno of energy carrying him for miles upon miles. He had his mind set they'd only stop for nightfall if need be.

Mane and tail whipping in the wind he blew outward and in the scent of the wilderness driving him even faster than before. Feeling her by his side he held his head up higher and kept onward. They were many miles from his current location yet with each footfall, each breath that escaped his lungs, he was sure they were becoming even closer than before. Occasionally he'd glance her way soaking in that gorgeous color before he settled his gaze back toward the mountains calling to him. The sea seemed so far back, yet he felt his mistress with him as each dip of his head pulled him even faster.

Thank you Ayelet...

Lunadriel
A nod was given as she leaned her head down to n** at the forest floor. Any root or blade of grass that was near found way to her belly. She chewed her food, yet tried to not linger on breakfast for too long.

Lifting her eyes, as the shadow of mid morning cast down, she met Mizu's soft gaze as he uttered a thank you for her. She could feel the sincerity and the warmth that was offered with his words. He was so far from home, yet here he was, willing her to be by his side as he ventured even farther. Her response was a silent one as she smiled in return, letting her eyes fall once with a slow blink. Being shy wasn't something she was accustomed too. She shook her head with a nod, retaining her focus. "I am ready."

She bolted after him with blazing energy. She would run as close to his side for as long as she could, falling behind only to follow him still. She had never ran so much in all her life, but it didn't matter. Instinct took over and a wild rush kept her moving. Her muscles flushed with fierce fire as they willed her to keep up.

They ran together, destination in mind, leading the way. They put as much distance as possible between themselves and the sea, drawing closer to the beacons of earth in the sky. Night had fallen, yet Ayelet did not slow. The sunset only gave her new found energy. The lands filled with color that she could almost feel as she ran through it. If anything, this was the time that she ran the fastest.

She continued to follow him well into the afternoon of the second day. If he were to ever look her way, she would push forward even more, willing herself to run as far as she could without break.

The first foothills were winding up and down as she ran, making it increasingly difficult to keep up her pace. The earth was hard, and unforgiving on her hooves. She slowed to a trot. Her legs twitched, unwilling to stop just yet. She forced herself to a walk and began listening to herself draw deep breaths. Looking up to the afternoon sky, she finally stopped, knees buckling in an instant. She fell to the ground with little grace and closed her eyes as she let her chest burn from the trip. She lifted her head once, to nod at Mizu, letting him know she was okay.

Access to sleep snuck up on her quickly. Without even a thought, she slipped off into a deep rest, dreaming of nothing as her body worked hard to relax.

Why were those mountainous giants so far off the stallion wondered with perfect stride and movement of his swift legs. They were traveling for days on end and still that goal was just out of reach. Mane and tail whipping within the wind he drove onward like a wave that crashed toward the shoreline. His breath coming deep and balanced he demanded himself to push as far as it took.

When Ayelet was tired or exhausted he rested as well concerned of her wellbeing. This was her choice to strive as far as he, and Mizu admitted he was thankful such a wonderful creature had appeared within his gaze and agreed with him. As she rested he stood closer this time watching outward toward the horizons the sun dissipated giving way to the canvas of serene black flecked with a million lights in a sea above him. His eyes seemed lucrative as they gazed upon her in a proud state. He wouldn't ever deny she was beautiful for in fact she was, capturing his very attention as he gazed upon the sky in the mornings beside his mother's vigil.

Mother. Mistress. Creator. She was everything to him and yet the stallion that believed himself a part of Eternity was falling deeply for someone else. Still he'd never reveal such delicate emotions to her for fear she'd be spooked if not feeling the same in return. He'd rather keep a silent vigil trying to read her thoughts and movements rather than boast loudly what he was feeling rustling deep within him.

As he was dozing off lightly his senses stretched out into the wilderness picking up scents of many varieties. The slumbering pines and deciduous trees whispered secrets barely detectable as the wind blew gently by. Deer were out in the moonlight grazing as rabbits nibbled eagerly at fresh dew soaked clover that was preparing to open toward the coming light in a few hours or so. Everything was the same to the stallion making him feel sleep, finally letting him drift off with no restraint letting blackness settle within him still in the vigil over Ayelet. Suddenly though Mizu's ears swiveled as his eyes opened with much haste. He inhaled the air with a worried expression though his eyes were narrowing. The scent he picked up on sent his water form into a rage and yet he was extremely worried for Ayelet as he moved himself to stand directly over her his eyes searching for the source that caused him this much predatory notion.

His breaths were coming sharp as nostrils sucked in air then exhaled with an agitated sound afterwards. Seemed something else was combing this land, an unmistakable presence of pure evil intent was nearing where they stood. Looking downward he lowered his head toward Ayelet, his ears taking in subtle sounds of her contented breathing. If need be he'd have to rouse her from that beautiful dream she was immersed within, he'd be damned if anything let alone that monster laid a tooth or claw on her.

~*~*~

Mizu did indeed have a reason to feel startled for earlier that day a black figure which smelled of brimstone reeking of evil intent was watching the companions with interest. Her maw was open exposing teeth that appeared sharp and deadly, daggers with an intent to pierce with precision.

Swinging her razor bladed tail she stood in a vigil watching as the two soquili had stopped for rest, the mare more exhausted then the stallion. Perhaps a bit of delicious fun was in order for the two on their sight seeing tour. Oddly enough the stallion reminded the creature of water, perhaps like the sea she generally steered clear of. She'd of course rather blood be her thirst quencher, though water was just as well. Still ocean water was horribly salty and usually gave the mare indigestion.

She called herself Cynder, a fitting name for one so devious and bold carrying such a seductive manner about her. Adorned with steel collars and spikes she herself a dragon kalona, was indeed a deadly foe. Curiousity was begining to arouse her why these two always headed north toward the mountain peaks. Pity really if they could fly they'd of been there days ago. What drove them to keep pushing like they were Cynder wondered with a puff of smoke from her nostrils. Looking at the stallion as the moonlight flickered from those emerald eyes, she figured this was his doing. Whatever the case she wanted to know more about these two, walking closer to see what she would discover.

This would be rather jovial in a sense to her, screaming was always a plus in frightened prey.

The mountains, though far off, seemed to increasingly draw up towards the sky. Getting larger as they moved in their direction. Taunting them, as they seemed to run towards an endless goal.

Countless times, Ayelet succumbed to fatigue, stopping to give her body and mind a rest. Each time, she'd do so in a frail heap on the ground. Being sore from the constant push, she rested long and hard. Her muscles built tone and strength, yes, but needed more than a brief slumber. She had no control over how long she slept, yet Mizu never woke, or disturbed her.

This particular time, she lay lost in a dreamless sleep. When your this tired, your mind expends itself on recovery, leaving no room for the eye of imagination. Completely unaware that danger was near, she didn't stir when her travel companion stepped over her. She should of been more aware of her surroundings, but all defensive instinct was left behind while knowing he was near.

Yet, some natural sense, slowly crept over her. The sense that tells you someones close, and forces you to become more aware. It served only to tug at Ayelet's sleep, pouring bits of consciousness back into her mind. Opening her eyes, still oblivious for a moment, she let her eyes focus before moving. Every muscle dared not move as she took note of a blue hoof, only now being able to realize Mizu was standing over top of her.

In a sudden movement, her head tilted backwards to look at him. Her heart raced, filling her cheeks with life. It wasn't because she was sensing real danger in the far off, no, every ounce of her being sensed how close he was to her.

She couldn't speak. Her mind swirled from the drum in her chest, elevating her breathing. She tried to take deep, slow breaths, to keep herself calm.

If he was standing over top of her, surely there was a reason.. It's not like she woke any other time to find him this way.

Then, she smelt it, the smell of something wicked. Her brain put two and two together, and instantly she knew they weren't alone. Her surprise, turned to an eager fear.

"Mizu?" came her soft, careful voice as she questioned what was going on. She was scared, noting how on guard her friend was. It made her worry. Something wasn't right.. Although Mizu was of the sea, he appeared to her, to be on fire, sparked by something...or someone.

Eyes of emerald carried by the black figure moved in closer pausing every minute or so with vigil over that stallion. Tch... he was so alert it made the dragon's head burn with aches of annoyance. So much for the "Surprise I'm here to scare the daylights out of you". No she was found out by Mr. liquid motion over there, such a setback in her plans. Oh well there were other options...

Mizu snorted, his entire large form covering over Ayelet as if she were a precious stone that was called to be guarded and cared for. Within the water stallion's eyes from the start of this journey she was even more now then that fateful meeting by his mistress' shoreline. Right now he'd fight to protect and defend this lady faire, for truly she was beautiful as he felt her shake in fear beneath him. Certainly not the circumstances he would of asked for simply to capture a chance to be this close to her.

He stood stolid with strength ready to charge and fight what the wind was whispering to him. The sudden caw of crows, the scattering of rabbits along the unseen paths, all signals she was approaching. He paused a good while before responding to Ayelet, his eyes keeping a heavy vigil from any area this creature may advance from.

When he was certain of the demon's position he spoke like a wave within a maelstrom but still they were gentle toward her personally, "Forgive me Ayelet but there is danger approaching in this strange land. You are my honored companion with me as you've promised to stay and be by my side. I in turn have vowed to see you there come hell or high water... whichever sees fit to come before me." He leaned downward blowing softly on her neck though his withers and muscles in his body were tense with tautness. Every rippling inch of him was alert as water constantly swirls and moves within the sea's breath. To simply look upon the creation of blues and silver one would think him a dream filled creature only found in poetry and prose written centuries ago by nobleman and ladies of the court.

Cynder moved with a swaying motion letting herself be playful as she casually made her appearance to the colorful pair, "Well well I see you figured me out water stallion. Not bad at all... Tell me are you going to stand over your lady friend like that the entire time I converse with you? Honestly I don't think she likes being cramped up like a foal in a basket. Do you?" Her eyes shimmered with an evil intent as she grinned in a jovial manner to unnerve the stallion. True she may of wanted to simply chat with the two of them, or perhaps she wanted their blood crimson as slides down her throat. Whichever her intentions were, Cynder deviously kept to herself.

Mizu snorted pulling himself closer to Ayelet even more as the demon stepped out of her sanctuary letting the sun glisten down her form very much like a snake suns itself. Her words may of seemed casual perhaps welcome, but Mizu could sense her actions by the way she was reacting and breathing as those emerald orbs never left him nor Ayelet.

"What business do you have with us Kalona mare?" he responded back to her with a deep crashing voice as his forelegs never moved from Ayelet keeping her safe beneath him. The last thing he wanted was Ayelet getting injured because he trusted one of those lying traitorous wretches.

Cynder clicked her tongue making herself appear wronged and hurt by his forceful query, " Come now stallion. I only wish a chat with you and her... that's all. I've feasted upon innards of rabbits along the way. Quite tasty charbroiled don't you think?" She grinned back at the two trying her best in the guise of a deceiver to gain trust later on destroyed. She was indeed a patient creature in times like this. For without trust it was useless to even try talking to someone let alone gain their attention.

"Formalities are key to conversation... I'm Cynder the dragon Kalona. Simplicty, elegance, and all over a stunning creature. And you both being of the Soquili realm come tell me your names so we may get better acquainted shall we?" Again she was trying her best to get namesakes, then she'd begin her sweet-girl routine to get on their side of trust.

Mizu looked down toward Ayelet while at the same time he never stayed from Cynder's soft expression that was laced with a vicious interior hidden deep inside. Finally he stepped back leaving room for Ayelet to rise, but he would stand flank to flank with her nudging closer if need be.

"I am Mizu from the breath of the sea mistress. This is Ayelet Hashachar whom is my companion. I won't say there is complete trust here, but I will grant you formalities as you yourself have done. Its the most I can attribute at the moment." He nudged Ayelet close to him stepping a foot out more so she was safe by his side while in the company of wicked tidings. Even away from his Mistress' own whisperings, every inch of his body was screaming with bad omens right now.

Listening intently to Mizu, she soaked in every word. Something inside her felt different, hearing him speak like this. She trusted him, yes, but something else was intravenously clouding through her mind. Danger seemed unimportant, if it stoked such emotion in Mizu.

Flames sparked down her muscles as he breathed on her neck. She almost shivered, yet earthquakes of adrenaline rushed over her. Her heart throbbed it's presence in every ounce of her being.

There was a gasp as Ayelet took in the sight of the stranger, distracting her mind, confusing her own emotions. Surprise mingled with fear, but also, she wanted to be outraged. This was their adventure. The last thing she desired was for anyone to stand in the way of what Mizu had set out to do. He needed this, and more so, she felt the need to be there when he finished the journey.

The strong tang of ocean brine warmed the hairs of her nostrils. A scent that wasn't this heavy since they had left the oceans side. It laced with the smell of something horribly wrong, the smell of something set ablaze long ago, that still burned with new life endlessly, feeding on it's own ash. Her lungs were heavy, but the smell of Mizu cooled her breath as she drew it in, making it bearable.

She closed her eyes tight for a moment, adjusting her legs underneath her. If she had to move suddenly, she didn't want to be unprepared.

She listened to the Kalona speak and she heard in her words, the hint of a flames pop before it snuffed out the life of what it touched. Surely she couldn't be trusted.

She rose to stand next to Mizu, a lingering empty feeling now filled the space above her. A little dizzy, overwhelmed by fear mixing with...feelings she couldn't quite understand, she wanted to lean a shoulder against Mizu. He was willing himself close to her already, nudging her. Relieved, she gingerly leaned into him. Her frame felt warm against his, fire again spreading from the warmth of his touch. She ignored it. Now was certainly not a time to be feeling these strange sensations.

Burying her head into his neck, for more support. She barely breathed a few faint words: "Cynder, how fitting." It didn't sound rude, more of an observation. For one who spoke of charbroiled innards of rabbits and smelt of death itself, it did match the Kalona.

She pulled her head back up, so as not to lose herself in Mizu. It was almost as if his intoxicating smell and touch were beckoning her like the waves of the sea itself. A wash of rejuvenation came over her as she resisted its pull.

"Yes, I am Ayelet Hashachar, Cynder." She said politely, dipping her head very briefly, but not taking her eyes off of the the dragon mare as she did. Unknowingly, she had already been vulnerable this entire time. At least now, her senses were more collected. All she wanted to do though, was to get away from this situation, and back on the path in which her and Mizu were set. Formalities or not, she wanted this meeting to be as short as possible.

Ayelet felt guarded, the only reason she was so silent for the most part. If details of where they came from, or where they were going were to be known by the Kalona, then who's to say they didn't cross paths again? Easily, she knew nothing about Cynder, but she never wanted to be given a chance to know anymore than she already did.

If Cynder wasn't so intimidating, Ayelet would of asked if they could leave already. Things didn't seem so simple though. It felt as if this meeting must be played out carefully. She admired Mizu for already handling this much the way he had, confident he would continue to act cautiously around the dragon mare.

She felt their fear as they stood flank to flank- a defensive method creatures used in protection of one another. How very.. precious yes that was the word of the day as it mingled within the dragon's mind..Precious. Were they a couple she wondered as her form began circling the two, her claws clicking on stray stones that happened to pass her. She took in their scent, body motions, and visuals quite heavily while all the more instilling fear within two wild bred soquili.

"Ah appreciated very much then... Mizu of the Sea and Ayelet of the sky. How very fitting your names and colorings fit your element. I am quite intrigued." She began her motions once more accompanied by subtle puffs of smoke that billowed from her nostrils. Those devious emerald eyes always keeping vigil to see which would panic first. She was thinking of attacking but thought against it, for it was useless to spook them that badly. No, her true aim was just causing anxiety and suspicion within both toward her. The probability of making them remember whom she truly is was more satisfaction then a creature could ask for.

Mizu wanted this done and over with, these petty tidings the dragon was initiating for his companion and himself. He was angry, a torrent wind storm that curves about the ocean causing her to rock unsteadily with ill grace in the presence of unsuspecting travelers. Was it merely the wind that tussled his mane, or was the sea soaking heavy within his veins as those eyes gazed deeper and deeper into the dragon's deception? Whatever the case Mizu was taking on a wild transformation as if the water were flowing from a distance into him. Perhaps his mistress had been searching, finding her beloved child drifting among the shoreline in the search of a dream he fathomed. Whatever the reasoning behind it... Mizu was becoming his namesake as he stood still yet muscled with intention to protect Ayelet at all costs. More and more the stallion was realizing why he fought so hard to keep her with him. Perhaps when this was said and done as they stood side by side finally staring into that sleeping giant... he'd repeat what his heart and mind were whispering to him.

"I feel formalities have been reached Cynder between us. I do not mean you disrespect but I have a goal to settle and finish before my age oversteps my eyes of what I must complete. I'm certain there is more you wish to discuss... but Ayelet and I have to move onward and finish what we started." He nudged Ayelet to start backing away from him as he moved to side with her keeping Cynder's attention on him and not Ayelet.

She eyed them with distaste for they were being so intentionally rude to her... but she also knew this stallion wasn't stupid. In fact he was quite headstrong and literal on protecting the mare. Once again there was the word... Precious. Oh decisions... evil things she had to make at that moment. Her company was up and leaving.. No no she wanted them to chat with her.. tell her such dirty little secrets about themselves. All worth the while antagonizing them both and she was loving every damn minute of it. Stepping forward she went into her usual routine of being the b***h she was; an actress.

"Oh surely our parting won't be so soon I ask of you... I am a lonely dragon with no one to converse with... Is it so wrong of me to ask you chat with me I ask you?" she cooed letting her voice squeak, a deadly venom to lure in those unfortunate to feel pity on her. Maybe she would attack them after all...

Mizu snorted with agitation at the dragon mare. This was a game to her causing the sun to drop further down the horizon. Where had the day gone he wondered as his shoulder met up with his companion. Nudging her with a motion to stop he moved in even closer as his eyes narrowed at the demon creature.

"No... time is spent and we need to focus on what is to be done. Do not cause the wave to still when it lows with a deepness you can't restrain. I made a promise and I'll not stop till it is done. Now if you would please.... I bid you good day." Nosing Ayelet again he faced her and himself heading off toward the distant mountains. A strange scent was overtaking the area that radiated from Mizu- the sea was awakening deep within him.

Cynder hissed to herself growing more angry at this stallion that was being so damn impossible. She clicked her tongue then grinned at him as he moved away from her with Ayelet, "Alright then... seems I've changed my mind dear ones. I think I'll kill you and feast upon your inards for the evening. Such a waste to let to perfectly healthy creatures leave an invitation. No... I think since you're so protective of her, "she pointed her muzzle in the direction of Ayelet, "I'll kill her first then I'll deal with you. Sound fair? Oh I think so... Now what way shall I deal with your lady friend I wonder... Flambe, Attack, Rend and tear... Ah so many decsions. Care to decide her fate water stallion?" She grinned endlessly at them knowing full well something was up with that stallion. His scent was growing thicker and it smelled like- she thought a moment and then fully decided... the sea.

This was it, their chance to get away. Ayelet led on as she was nudged. A fight broke in the muscles of her legs. It took every ounce of her strength to not run. It didn't seem wise to run, instigating a chase.....which could be deadly. Her heart pounded with ambition, to find a way out of this.

Her mind rang with the words that were exchanged between the two, only half hearing each word. She startled when Mizu nudged her to a halt. No...we can't stop now.... She did her best to sooth the panic that flooded into her mind.

Can't run, can't stay...

Can't run, can't stay...

Pacing her breathing, she took careful, slow breaths. Letting the incredible smells of Mizu's sea, try and calm her nerve. A glimmer of hope renewed itself as they began to move again, her half fumbling over her hooves. She had been standing with her knees locked tight. There was no need for an extended goodbye. The sooner they could get away, the sooner they could forget the danger they had faced.

Cynders next words rang home quickly. Ayelet froze as a chill sent every hair along her spine on end. Her head wavered, and for a second, she thought she was going to be sick. Had she eaten recently, she would of lost it all.

The world around her seemed to vanish in white before her eyes. The only thing she could see was the gruesome fate of events to come. Her mind staged a few outcomes, each making her head spin all the more. Mizu.... It pained her to think of her friend getting injured..or killed. It didn't matter that she could end up as a hearty meal for the Kalona's disturbing appetite.

Everything flashed back and she thought she had fainted. She could hear someone beginning to speak, and she wondered who else had joined them.

Nobody else was there. Instead, she stood with her head low as a moaning bellow began to crawl from her throat, escaping with more force than she thought her voice capable of.

"NOOO!"

Ayelet....was suddenly, uncontrollably....angry. The overwhelming sensation caused her to spin. She slid against Mizu, almost falling to the ground. She felt a fat line of tears pour from her eyes.

This mare did not know anger. It was almost painful.

She blinked her eyes, unaware of what to say or do next. This is not how the story is supposed to go..
