Overview:
The Imperium is the galactic empire under which the vast majority of humanity is united. The ruler of the Imperium is the Emperor, the most powerful Human force user to date, who has led the Imperium since its very beginning.
The Imperium was founded by the Emperor at the end of the Age of Strife - a very long period of anarchy, war, and destructive regression which almost completely reversed thousands of years of mankind's progression made during the Dark Age of Technology. Also, during this time, many of the colonies founded by man were lost to the records.
After the Age of Strife the Emperor united Terra and from their he built a vast military and pushed out into the stars on a Great Crusade to unite all of Humanity.

Organization:
At the head of the command structure is the Emperor of Mankind, he created 18 "sons" called Primarchs who lead vast legions of Space Marines along with many Army and Naval units. Past this organization it breaks down between Space Marines and the Imperial Army and Navy.
Space Marine Breakdown:
Primarch --> Chapter Masters --> Sergeants --> Troops
every space marine commands over normal men, no matter their rank.
Imperial Army Breakdown:
Lord General Militant --> Lord General --> General --> Commissar --> Colonel --> Lieutenant --> Sergeant --> Guardsman
Imperial Navy Breakdown:
Admiral --> Captain --> Commander --> Lieutenant Commander --> Lieutenant --> Ensign --> Crew

Citizens of the Imperium:
Citizens of the imperium are required to work for the imperium in any job that they can full fill. These jobs can range from administrative to artist to factory worker. Each Imperial Citizen must choose a job that best suits their education and ability.
All work in the imperium is designed in some way to help the large machine that is the imperium. Even artists are employed to help the imperium and many times the best of them are invited to travel with the crusade to record their great deeds.

Legion Overview:
The Space Marine force is broken into 18 Legions, each legion is lead by a primarch. Each legion has their own specialization and unique adaptations. Every legion has 10,000 space marines broken into 10 companies. Every legion also has 3 Space Marine Battle Barges, 2 normal and 1 Flag ship. They also have 9 Strike Cruisers and various other support craft under their command. The following is a break down of each Legion in the Imperium of Man.
1X Legion --> 10X Company --> 99X Regular Squads, 1X Command Squad
Regular Squad = 9 Space Marines, 1 Sergeant
Command Squad = 9 Veteran Marines in Terminator Armor, 1 Company Captain
