It was one of those rare winter days, a day when the sun was out and it wasn't so cold, where the snow twinkled as if the whole world had been cleansed and washed clean. The birds above sang and the critters below frollicked. The mountains in the distance did not seem so overwhelming, with their newly painted exterior they almost seemed, cheery; as if they were trying to play with you rather than block you off from anouther part of the world. Today was a glorious day, seemingly like the winter season was trying to make up for the harshness that it had been doling out; a sort of present, for all to enjoy.
Azul smiled peacefully as she lay out in the sun in the middle of a clearing. It was too far into winter for there to be any flowers here anylonger, but if Azul thought about them hard enough, she could almost smell the wild poppies that grew here and it made her smile all the more serene. She lay next to a small spring that sprinkled and sprayed her ever so slightly with a fine mist of freezing droplets. She laughed softly, almost like the stream itself when she wondered if under blue fur there now lay blue skin from the cold. Her yound ward Ragdoll did not like the cold, not in the way that Azul did. Ragdoll had lived all her life in the northern world, where as Azul herself had come from more tropical climates. To her, the snow was a miracle, a gift from god, she just wanted to bask in it all day. True she was not stupid, and she knew that laying near the cold water for so long wouldn't be good and eventually she would become hypothermic. So with a sigh and a heave, she rolled over onto her stomach and padded away ever so slightly from the stream, but not so far that she couldn't still hear it. She revelled in the aloneness, her precious quiet time, but soon it became monotonous and dull just to lay there, eyes closed, listening to the stream and the creatures beyond. So she once again rolled onto her back and looked up at the sky, the sun was out true, but in the clear blue sky there were still white puffy clouds, floating as lazily as a bee might on a hot summers day. She stared up at the clouds, breathing in and out slowly, calmly. She soon found herself finding shapes in the clouds, and despite the fact that she was perfectly contempt, a part of her that would not quite admit it, a very SMALL part of her, also wished she had someone to share this perfect day with. After all, what's good is a present if you can't share the joy of it with others?

Thomas ambled along. He loved days like these, crisp but not to chilly, a tantalizing hint of a far-off spring. Thomas was graceful, but today his eyes were on that clear blue sky. He stumbled over his own feet, until, eventually, he stumbled into something else. Something furry. "Oh!" He exclaimed, and looked down into a very bright face. "I-I'm terribly sorry!" He stuttered, fumbling for words to fully express his remorse.

Azul let out a wild cat's call of surprise, like bageera when ever his tail got stepped out. Someone had just litterally walked all over her. She couldn't hear what the other was saying as she attempted to get her breath back by coughing a few times in the process. She raised a steeley glare up at the red male. If she were a fragile being she would have been bruised and hurting for atleast a week, thankfully though, she ran from stronger blood than that... but it still hurt. She bared her teeth for a moment, an extreme look of annoyance crossing her face, before turning it away to glare at the ground as her proper breathing patterns started again. There went her good day... She wondered breifly if this is what it felt like to be on the receiving end of Ragdoll? Azul looked back to what was obviously a male, a calm and cool exterior now on her face. she quickly relaised however that this male was truthfully sorry, and she couldn't truly stay mad. "just watch where you're going."

A look of bewildered fear, fear of being rejected by someone he hadn't even met, fleetingly crossed Thomas's face. I-I really am sorry... " he fumbled, struggling to keep his expression one of apologetic concern, rather than concerned fear. "Are you alright?" He asked gently, his voice steady. He drew himself up a little, secretly pleased that his voice had not betrayed his emotions. No one else he knew had such control!

Azul went form a sitting position to a standing position as she shook out her fur and subsequently shook her entire body. She closed her eyes for a few moments, attempting to regain her inner peace, her unconcious mind touched on the fact that it was so much easier to do this with Ragdoll... maybe becuase ragdoll was more like her child? She let out a puff of air, almost as if releasing the hostility in her. Her calm light gray eyes were once again clear and cool, rather than the stormy grey that had previously resided there. She looked the male up and down, his posture betrayed his voice unfortunately. Hunched forward shoulders, with tensed hind legs, he looked as if he were about to decide which was best, flight or fight. Azul sighed, the rest of her agitation flowing from her with ease. She almost felt bad for the male, she knew it probably wasn't his fault but still... She raised her head, a motherly 'don't do that again' look on her face. "yes, I'm fine, don't worry. But you really should watch where you're going. There are meaner things in the world than I am, but you're just lucky you happened to run across me instead."

Thomas lowered his head, feeling as if he were a kit about to be smacked for breaking something. He looked back up at the colorful female, and attempted a grin. "Thank you for showing concern. I confess, it's been many seasons since I've felt this young and foolish," He admitted. Sitting up, he attempted a bow. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Madam. I am Thomas." He righted himself, a catching grin plastered on his face.

Azul went from the laying/ready to pounce position she had been previously holding to a less hostile one of sitting. She kept an uninterested look on her face as she regarded the male in front of her for a few moments. The name Thomas played over in her mind for a seconds, she contemplated repeating it, but felt that would have only looked foolish. She raised an eyebrow as she observed this Thomas fello attempting a bow. The grin however did not catch, and a disinterested look remained. But her eyes were a little freindlier than they had been; she recognised his attempt at freindliness and politness, she appreciated such qualities greatly, since she came from a small island. "Nice to meet you Thomas, my name is Azul."

Thomas burst into a dazzling smile at this new development. She didn't hate him after all! "Lady Azure, the pleasure is all mine," He replied, and meant it. He had never had a friend, and now that he had a chance at getting one, he wasn't about to let that chance go. Though, if she didn't want to be his friend, he would have to leave it at that. For now, he would just enjoy the company of another ulaya.

Azul sat up straight, slightly miffed. 'Azure?' she repeated in her head. She raised an eyebrow in an agitated manner, a slight sneer of discontent passing over her features. "Azure?" She repeated alloud. "No, it's AZUL, A-Zool, Say it with me now, I need to make sure you can pronounce it right becuase I really do love my name and i would hate to see it butchered." She shook her head as if she were dealing with a child. "Although the Lady before it was slightly cute."

Thomas stiffened and drew back slightly, before he burst out laughed. "I'm so sorry!" He blurted in between laughs. "Today's really not my day, it seems." Though it was no one could tell, he was an eye-smarting shade of crimson under his sleek cardinal fur. "Azul. Ah-sool. A-ZUEL. Got it now," he remarked as he smothered the last of his chuckles. "It is a beautiful name, Madame," he remarked smoothly, "And I am sorry to have desecrated it so."

Azul mentally shook her head at the male before her, and physically rolled her eyes. A small smirk crept it's way onto her face. This male was cute, but cute didn't neccessarily mean smart. She listened to the way he talked, trying to dissect it. He was rather good with his grammar, and she was rather impressed with his diction. And other than for not looking where he was going, he was rather polite. A rather likeable person all around. She wrinkled her nose for a moment and sneezed as a slight breeze came by, rubbing her nose with her forepaw and losing her train of thought in the process. "So," she asked attempting to be conversational; "what brings you out on this winter day?"

Thomas revealed a shaky grin when Azul rolled her eyes, and the grin became obviously more stable as she smirked, and became an outright smile when she gave a delicate sneeze. "Oh, that. At first I just took a walk for a breath of fresh air, but..." He paused, shaking his head, searching for words that would not make him seem insane. "It felt like there was an adventure somewhere, and I was missing it." He hung his head, slightly depressed. He had no friends, no great adventure, no one to save. "It sounds crazy, I know," He murmured quietly, but still loud enough to be heard.

Azul sighed, it seemed she'd met anouther one.... she stood up, and got into a strik position, drawing her back legs up and into her body, preparing to spring forward. When she finally pounced Thomas she made sure to roll a few times before cleanly letting go and jumping off like a cat jumping off of a table. She turned around and sat back down, licking at her paw as if to clean it. "Crazy is the only thing i listen to."

Thomas stiffened as the female tensed, and turned away, preparing for the blow. He wasn't sure what he did that went wrong, but if she was going to hit him, he probably deserved it. Braced for a heavy strike, he waited. But instead of a smarting hit, he was suddenly went down with the female on top of him! He yelled like a wildcat as they rolled until the female sprung away from the blue/red blur. He hardly heard her words as his face turned twelve different shades of magenta. "WHAT IN ALL THE GOD'S NAMES ARE YOU DOING?!" He shrieked. Seething, he steadied himself for a moment. "I'm sorry," He whispered. He looked up as far as he dare. "You-.. Uh, you took me by surprise there." He looked back down, shame-faced. He fad reacted as a two-season old kit would! His own temper and immaturity surprised him.

((awe! he blushed!!!))
Azul would have been shocked and would have apologised if she hadn't seen that Thomas' fur had turned a few shades darker of Red. She raised an eyebrow and smiled, giggling slightly. Suddenly a sentence popped up into Azul's mind and she knew EXACTLY what was wrong with this Male. "It must hurt!" she said remembering what she'd heard Susan and Ragdoll say about Xi before they'd gotten to know him ((Xi is Susan's mate FYI)). Her face was deadly serious as she got a little closer to Thomas's face, their noses only an inch or two away from each other. After all, he wasn't looking at her, why not take advantage of this? "Having that stick up your a** an all." She smiled widely and rubbed up against him in a freindly manner. "But I will tell you this much, it's cute when you blush."
