Not really. I mean, you can if you want, but I've always hated s**t like that. Panagrammic We think that people are overwhelmed by the number of guilds, and the difficulty in finding an appropriate one, so we're adding the capability for guild captains to add keywords to their guilds -- that is, five words or phrases that best represent your vision for the guild. What are five words that describe us as a guild? Nothing so generic as to get 1,000 hits, but hopefully not so obscure as to have nobody search for it?

Mature, perverted, oldbies, undies, periods
That's pretty much the 5 words I'd pick for the guild with how we talk about things and how we act. Most of us are Mature and Oldbies, and half of us if not more are perverted. And we talk about periods a lot long right now we're talking about undies. xp I'm not original how I see the guild. sweatdrop

Yeah... not going with oldbies. That's more of a coincidence than anything. If we advertise that, we'll have applications from all those people who think their s**t doesn't stink because they were "famous" on the interweb in 2004.
Undies and periods... no.
Perverted will probably get us apps from 12-year-olds looking to cyber.
Mature? Too many different connotations. Intelligent? Discussion? Something similar?

GD, CB, AT, SF, QnF. biggrin
Just kidding. That's tough - I mean, what IS our common interest?
What does the UFG mean to you all?
To me, it's a group of intelligent friends and tight-knit family, who simply like Gaia itself. I'm with Aeo in that I like that we've grown up together and are comfortable enough to talk about more mature things.
A normal 13 year is going to walk in here and be bored out of their mind to see all the talk about college classes, relationships, jobs, politics, apartments, whatever. Unless they're a mature 13-year-old, or we try to be more fun.

Hey that's just my thought, I now it's not perfect and that's why I'm not in change of this guild. xp
Intelligent, Discussion doesn't seem to fit in my opinion. Intelligent makes us seem high and mighty, and for Discussion what form has ever turned out good with discussion in it's name?
Conversation seems maybe better in my opinion. How about Educated Conversations?

Waltz for Luma A normal 13 year is going to walk in here and be bored out of their mind to see all the talk about college classes, relationships, jobs, politics, apartments, whatever. Unless they're a mature 13-year-old, or we try to be more fun. Haha. I don't think we're trying to appeal the "normal 13-year-olds" anyways. And some of that stuff has nothing to do with maturity of mind so much as experience. I have friends who are married and/or have kids. I feel utterly lost and completely left out when they start talking about those things. I'm not married and I don't have kids. I don't get it. So somebody younger could probably relate to college courses because they have high school classes. But looking for an apartment or a full-time job? Not really.

How about Educated Conversations? You could be right about the intelligent part, but I'm going to hold to discussion. GD and ED suck because of the people who go there - not their intended use. We can bounce bad eggs at the door. And we've always been intended as a discussion guild. I think we're listed as one if they still have those categories. Certainly not interest-based or RP. Who is going to think to do a search for "conversation"? To me... well... UFG is my home. That's the only way FOR me to describe it, but it doesn't tell people looking for guilds anything but "Pyre spends all her time here." Maybe "hangout'"? We do a lot of... hanging... out. This is hard. gonk

So I'm down for "discussion" as being one of our words. Educated sounds just as pretentious as "intelligent" only less people will search for it.
"Intelligent" has become such a d**k thing to say on the internet because it implies that everyone else is not intelligent, but... we ARE all intelligent here. xD
I'm still thinkin'. Just gonna get some lunch while I do, haha.

I think I'm gonna get some food, too. Maybe my brain will work better then.

Isn't this place more of a private forum for friends? Why would we need to attract people we don't already know then?
If we are going to go for new people we'd first need to have something other to talk about than 'what I did today' and 'oh hey, a new feature to not like'.
I can't think of any tags at any rate.

Before Leyna took over, we complained about how we wanted to see more activity than "What Are You Thinking?" so we trashed that thread and started new ones. For about a week things seemed good, we tried to start up new topics and there was a short burst of activity. But now we are just back to that "what I did today" thing. HOWEVER, there has been an improvement - now we talk to each other. xP
There has to be some effort on everyone's part, we're all trying to do something different but it doesn't work if no one wants to do anything different... All of our threads seem to die except for the chat ones.
Anyway, Aldo does have a point, usually the people who stay here are people who know someone already.

I mean... that's kinda what we've turned into, but... Well, the goal has always been for people to come in and make new friends, but we're not supposed to be "private" by any means. Just a bit exclusive. As in... know the language and have something moderately interesting to say. How sad that those minor stipulations make us exclusive... emo

I'd search "conversation" if "discussion" didn't give fruit to what I was looking for. So I still hold to "Conversations" But I'm not really looking for another guild as UFG and Scas are my only two active guilds.
"Educated" wouldn't be searched very often or at all in my opinion, but it would work for the front page. confused
"Hangout" is a bit generic and doesn't really fit in my opinion. sad
Aivi: lol If we want to be dicks about this we can have four of the words be, "No Soup For You". xp
But yeah there needs to be more of an effort from everyone to keep this guild active. I feel like there are only about 6 of us that truly keep the guild active. sad
Edit: Oh and when I do search for guilds I also look at the 10x50 pixel banner or whatever it is to peek my interest. In my opinion the tab banner needs a face lift.

This is so ridiculously unfunny that I didn't laugh at all. But I still couldn't help posting it?

"We live in two states"
cool
Actually, I have no idea.
"United Forums" fits well. still. If it allows for exact phrase searching.
Uhm.
"WTFLOL?" and uhm,
Our new theme shall be "Where's Jaho?" You know, cause, that'd be awesome. Like finding Waldo. Cept Jaho.
FIND HIM!
