Just curious...XD seeing all the sashes with years on them made me think why you joined when you joined that year...
If I remember correctly, it was tektek.org that I first knew of before Gaia..LOL! XD I was at an RP forum and one of the participants had the idea of making an avi for our characters for fun..and he used tektek to make one...then I had so much fun at tektek that I had to know what Gaia is all about and I have to have those items that my RP character has...
but when I joined, lo and behold, the Sun Staff was too expensive for me! rofl needless to say, I never came back to that RP forum!

I think it was Uma that introduced me to this place, I hope I'm right there. I know for certain that I only found out about this place because an alternative to the old Gates on ezBoard was created here, and I thought I'd give it a go.

I found out about this place through the original Gates on the EZBoard forums.
I popped in randomly after a several month hiatus (that was happening a lot at that time, things were rather...chaotic then compared to now) and it was mentioned by Uma and Ethan that there was a Gates guild here. I heard of Gaia once before that, years ago. Probably 2003 but I never checked it out as when I heard about it I was at work and forgot all about the site.
So yeah, I ended up here because of Uma and Ethan. I think they keep me around because my eccentricity keeps them amused xd

The original Gates of Horn and Ivory wasn't a literary RP site.
It was more of a General Discussion/ Free Write/ Poetry/ Short Stories similar interests forum. Discussions were exceedingly broad on a variety of subjects.
I even had my own Godlike thread that was labeled "Where is Zeddicuus?" which gets mentioned here every so often by the folks from the original Gates. It was a pretty popular thread for some odd reason. Mostly the discussion was random on everything, with a sprinkle of questions on where the Hell I disappeared to that time. It's basically become an inside joke now, which amuses me greatly.
I disappeared a lot for a long period of time. I was going through several hard points in life and disappeared a lot and apparently it worried people, which I never thought it would do. Then again the things I did talk about then probably had some worried to begin with. Mostly Ethan I imagine as we also RP'd a lot on another site and harassed each other on MSN on a regular basis, heheh.
I always came back though when I had a chance, and always wrote in that thread. It always started a storm of replies since I didn't reply there often hahaha.

I liked a game at that time and I visited the forum that was made by the maker of the game frequently... :3 We all had static avatars, and I mentioned one time there that dressing up avatars could be fun... Someone told me 'bout Gaia then...
I found TekTek months earlier, but I didn't really knew what it was or what the gold meant... XD

My niece was at Gaia. She told me about it in 2003 and then one day, March 31, 2004 I came on by. And I never left. XD
However, at the time, the only Gates of Horn and Ivory that existed was the ezboard that I owned. Then we traveled to a vBulletin (*thanks Chris with all her heart*) since ezb closed down. But some of the Gates people came here with me when Gaia designed guilds. I made this guild for them originally. Then I invited a few people. Eventually I opened it up to the FG people.

Yes, the Gates does still exist. The Gates of Horn and Ivory I don't think you can see the image though. But that is my sig at the Gates.

my friend who is like a brother to me made me account and sat next to me for 3 hours making me play it... then i managed to quit for 3 yrs and come back in 2006... once again because of him xD

a friend mentioned it to me. went fishing in the beginning. then joined a guild. been writing ever since.
but i did find tektek through you guys. ever since been idling long hours of the night with it. thanks guys! <3
and i will never share my gold making secret with anyone!! BWHahahahaha!!

Uma talked about it on the old Gates board, so one day after it was found out that ezboard was going to be no more I hopped over here and joined.

My story isn't as elaborate. It just so happened that I was taking a quiz on Quizilla and "Gaia" came up. I got curious about it, so I googled it and saw all these really cool looking avis and just had to join. And now, here I am. :3

Yeah, I love the avi's too. They were what really made the site for me. And it was so limited in early 2004 compared to now. Now it's like there is too much stuff!
