How do you interpret deity?
Are you a monotheist? False polytheist? (aka soft polytheist... a person who believes "all gods are one God, all goddesses are one Goddess") Ditheist? Polytheist? Henotheist?
Personally I'm a hard polytheist ^-^

oh so Extravagant... It's hard to explain how I interpret high power. I think I more believe in a power, Spirit if you will, that's all-encompassing. I mean, I'm Wiccan and I worship different dieties, but I don't think I believe in them so much as separate being as I do as manifestations of Spirit. it's hard to explain. I'm not really one to stick labels or names onto beliefs so I don't know what you'd call that.

As I understand it, Wicca is simply ditheistic.

I see the various Gods/Goddesses as personifications of different elements of ones life. They live among us and have an influence over our lives, but do not control our day to day lives.

Wait... so they're personifications, but they live... I was thinking you were saying they were archetypes, but maybe I am misunderstanding...

Their elements of our lives, but based on the features of each element, they develop a persona and become like an individual...at least that's how I interpret what a deity is.

I believe that when a deity is worshiped it will actually take form and gain power from it's worshipers psi energy. the mor worshipers the greater the power, but the opposite is true also.

It's weird. In different guilds or groups you find different deity concepts. On Covenspace I felt like the only hard polytheist there, but in the Gaia hangouts I frequent hard polytheism is the most common concept.

I just like to hear everyone's views, it's one of the ways I learn and form my own opinions.

All I can say is that my belief system is completely illogical and paradoxical. I can't even begin to talk about the concept of deity. The more I meditate on the subject of religion the more likely it seems to me that it is impossible to have a fully coherent and logical set of beliefs, and follow them to the letter without being fanatical, fundamentalist in some way, offensive to others, and actually 'know' that what you believe is right.
I have yet to figure out what the 'true' definition of 'knowing' is. Words make matters worse. Possibly, they make it impossible. Possibly, they are the source of all my philosophical/existential/spiritual difficulties.
It may be helpful to note that I started off an atheist-leaning agnostic.
You could still call me an agnostic. Agnostic mystic is perhaps more accurate. Pro-tolerance and coexistence.
I find it funny how trendy Atheism or 'Secular Humanism' has become of late. Much as I love early secular humanism and all its witty, libertine, appeal, I think it's just as illogical as any other belief system it claims to refute. I think the attraction of it for a lot of people, is that it gives them a feeling of intellectual superiority because logic and empirical scientific data - 'facts' - explain everything. Nothing irritates me more than certain kinds of arrogant atheists who are pushing an agenda on you (especially the ones who hang on Richard Dawkins' every word). I have a hard time liking particularly close minded people in general, mind you; not just devout atheists. Close minded people of any religion are fair game.

тεℓℓ мε ωнαт ι αм αℓℓ αвouт... I agree that trying to put religion and beliefs into words tends to complicate things all the more. A Quest---

Personally, I think the concept of deities is - like many things - simply a matter of perspective. In much the same way that it can be helpful to conceptualise a series of electrical signals as "a folder on my computer" even though it actually isn't, so to can conceptualising deities as personalities, archetypes, personas or cosmic forces be.
