It was spring. Finally the warmth had returned to the land. Taz was estatic, but not because of the flowers. Paths that had been snowed over were now free of ice and easy to tread. She couldn't wait to see what she could find. Metal, gems... who knew?
So on the very first day of spring, Taz decided to begin her trip. It was a trip that would take her far away from most other herla. This was on purpose. Spring was the season of romance, and Taz wanted to get as far away as she could from the wooing she knew would be happening. Sure, some of it was cute, but on the whole it was just a lot of trouble. On the whole better to miss, especially when she had treasures to find!
Unfortunaly, with her new companions Min and Max (she still haven't managed to get rid of them) she started out later then she should have. She had only gotten a few miles away before noon. Ah well. Who would miss her?

((No post style lawl))
Joachim had been quite..antsy since the morning. With the flower had come...needs. needs he didn't feel like living out. Or acting upon. After all, he was young, strong, he didn't need a dozing doe after his tail! But...Some of those gals..."Mm...maybe not so bad..." He was quite off kilter considering what this all meant. Foals. He might want to have a good gallop, but, he'd be damned before he'd want a few foals to watch over. Shaking his head as he walked out into a meadow, Joachim made his way to the lake...but not before munching on a few mint leaves and running through a bush or two. He would rather smell like mint then..well...what he did right now. On the wind, he could catch the smell of a female...but, Joachim shook it off. He doubted she would come to the lake.

((Heh, heh, heh! Fear Taz's giant head! xD )) Taz needed a break. Min and Max, her two Mions, were making it a hundred times more difficult to travel than usual. They raced ahead, fell behind, and rode on her rig whenever they could. This she could put up with, but when they both raced back covered in mud it was the last straw. Allowing them to get mud on her was the last thing she wanted. Although she didn't care so much about her looks, it was just uncomfortable. Guess it was time for a trip to the lake.
"Come on guys. Time for a bath!" she told them, and headed west. When they reached the lake, the two raced off to splash in the shallows. Taz sighed. And smelled mint. Hmm... where was that coming from? Mint didn't grow on the shores of the lake, did it?

The sound of splashing water drew Joachim to a pause. Considering how far out the area was from any groups, it would be quite odd if another herla was nearby...But. A mion? Was it a wild one? Following it, ears bend up, body bent low, Joachim wondered if it might be a beast. Yes, the smell of a female herla waffed into his nose. "..Hmm?Mmmm..." It was a good smell, he had to admit, but still he turned around and was about to head back.. When he almost ran into what seemed to be a very fluffy herla. "Oh, excuse me I-" So SHE was the female he had been smelling. How unusual, considering how far she must be from her people. "I'm Joachim. And might I ask what you're doing here miss?"

A pale herla nearly ran into her. The smell of mint had been coming from him. Now that she was closer she could faintly smell his musk mixed with the mint. Drat! If she had known he would be here she would have just ignored the dirty mions and skipped the lake entirely.
"I'm Tazmin. What am I doing? Mostly standing. Why are you here?" she answered. What was he doing here? It didn't fit in with her schedule. She was sure there was no reason for anyone else to be out here. She had timed her departure so well! It looked like the Mions had taken advantage of the situation to wander out of sight, too. Darn! Slightly distracted, she waited for an answer.

"I live here. I was on my way to get a nice cool drink of water, when I began to hear a little ruckus not far off along with a very sweet smell, so, naturally, I came to investigate." He gave a small grin. "And, would you look at that, I too am mostly standing. Funny thing...its happens to the best of us." he chuckled and began to circle her slightly. "Is your herd not far off? Its rare to seem a mountain doe so far from her homeland..especially around this time of year."

"Sweet? If you ask me, you're the one who smells sweet. What happened, did you lose a fight with a bush?" she asked with a grin.
Joachim talked differently than any herla she was used to. Interesting. On second glance she saw that he was also wearing armor, and it was actually quite well made. Her rig was still more useful, but... He was quite dashing, wasn't he? She had heard tales of rouges, but the few she had had to fight on her travels were more brutish. He was almost aristocratic by comparison. Except for the circling. What, was she not supposted to realise?
"A homeland may be a homeland, but it isn't home. I'm on a trip. Since it's spring most of the herd I now call mine has elected to stay home. Their loss, the spring melt unearths plenty of treasures. And whatnot." she said with an innocent shrug, and stood her ground.
"Your herd doesn't seem to be anywhere near either."
