ρℓαgυε яαтs αη∂ вℓσσ∂ч cяυмρεтs...What are the policies regarding drugs and alcohol where you live? Are you satisfied with them? What do you think needs to change?
Here people come down hard on drugs, although they did de-criminalize pot as long as it's under a certain weight. And the drinking age is 21 here, although I think that should be lowered to 18. Status >in want of arts

In the states with a drinking age of 21. I also think it should be lowered, we've seen it work in other places. But I think what people don't realize, is that a lot of other places where it is legal to drink at 18... they can't get their license until they're older. I'd rather be able to drive than drink haha! Another problem is that the laws here aren't strict enough against drunk driving. I know the president of my college refused to sign the petition for lowering the drinking age for that exact reason and I completely agree.
As for other drugs. I don't know how I feel. Everything has its limitations. I guess the only thing I do agree with is marijuana. But even that.. yes I know its pretty much harmless. But after seeing what happened to my friends this past 420, I'm also aware of the dangers of it too. Anything else is a big no no. I don't care what you say, My sister has done every single drug except -maybe- pcp, and let me tell you, NONE of it is worth it. NONE.
just my two cents smile

I agree with lowering the drinking age. There's alot of problems that arise when you make something forbidden, and binge drinking is really dangerous. Not that I'm one to talk, I chug down shots of Vodka faster than most of my friends.
As for drugs... Well, thats another matter entirely. I do feel that some drugs are wore than others, but I feel that some shouldn't be made into a big deal.

I personally think 21 should be the standard age for purchasing alcohol, but consuming it should only be set at 18.
The reason the current laws set it at 21 is, primarily, to keep alcohol out of the reach of minors. The drinking age in the US was 18 for many, many years, but there were a lot of problems with 18-year-old high school seniors buying alcohol for underclassmen, including freshman as young as 13 or 14. They bumped it up to 21 knowing that the likelihood of 21-year-olds hanging out with minors was significantly lower.
Not that it especially matters to me, being that I don't drink.

If at 18 you can be sent halfway around the world to fight and even die for your country, you should be able to consume alcohol at 18. Though I do like the idea of not allowing purchasing at 18 and having that at 21 instead.

I've been drinking since I was about 14, and the legal drinking age here is 18.
I don't think any drugs besides alcohol (in small amounts, not to get drunk) on a daily basis is a bad thing.
That goes for cigarettes and weed.
Any drugs that are made out of chemicals and s**t like meth are just no-nos.

I am completely for the legalization of marijuana. I could really go off and give a whole long spiel, but I don't have time right now. lol

i actually like that idea! drink at 18 but buy at 21. cuz as fyhr said, if you can be sent to kill and die, you should be able to drink.
marijuana i'm all for legalizing. its no more dangerous than alcohol. and i am of the opinion that getting a prescription for my hubby would do him a world of good.

I don't like the idea of something that slows my brain down like that. And before anyone says it, yes, I drink, but despite being a rather small person, alcohol doesn't seem to affect me (read: I've never been as much as buzzed let alone drunk.

Oh wow. Well the drinking age is 21 here yeah... buut I know a lot of people in my town and a few towns over soI always seem to end up drinking at bars anyways. I never get really drunk or wasted though because I really don't like getting sick and it's funny to watch everyone else be dumb. I like being able to walk and know whats going on... I am pothead I won't lie and did X twice... but I look at all the people out here and their all just complete idiots and burnouts. I just got a friend to quit heroine but that does'nt change the fact that he's a complete deadbeat and just has no emotion much now because of it... I really never want to be like that. I was adopted and my real mother was on LSD, cocaine, weed, and was on alchoholic. Suprisingly the only thing wrong with me because of it is asthma, slight ADD n bi-polar. Im grateful it was'nt worse than that...andI hope it stays that way :/ But it really is'nt worth ruining your entire life over.

After experimenting with pot, I've yet to see a single ******** that couldn't have been prevented by the user.
I'm against hard drugs, but to each their own. I don't think we should help out addicts. They took it, they can live with the consequences. If they wanna quit, they can do it on their own.
I don't stand for AA, or any of that "you can't do it without help" bullshit.
I'm for the complete legalization of all drugs. Why? Because the economy can profit from it. We're in a recession; drugs don't get affected. Everyone wants their fix.
21's the legal age for drinking, however, I don't know of a single person who hasn't had a drink before that. I also have friends who have drank and drove without a single mishap. There are people I trust behind the wheel drunk, with my life. There are people who I won't let be in the same vicinity as a car when they have a beer in their hand.
I plan on taking a few psychotropics later in my life when I can get hold of some. However, I honestly think I'd die taking uppers; I'm already hyper as ******** whenever I'm taking downers. XDD

Personally, I'm against the use of drugs. I don't even like the caffeine that I drink on a daily basis. In fact, my dad became so addicted to caffeine that when my stepmom secretly switched his sweet tea to decaff, he actually had withdrawal symptoms. Headaches, vomiting, everything. He thought he was deathly ill, but they eventually figured it out. And that's considering that he was still drinking soda on the road and at work.
Anyway, I've never been high on drugs before, but there have been times when I've acted like it, and not on purpose. I've even been questioned about it. So maybe I just don't really need them...
But, given the harmful side effects of drugs, both legal and illegal, prescription and non, I really prefer not to use them at all.
I know some people use marijuana and other drugs to make it easier to do astral projections or commune with Spirit, but personally, I think it kind of invalidates any religion when you have to use drugs to talk to your deity. Especially since it's been proven that drugs alter your brain, so that you may see and hear things that aren't real... If you can't do it through meditation alone, then who's to say that your experiences are even real?
But that's just my humble opinion smile
(I do drink from time to time, but I only get drunk with my Hubby. Otherwise, there's not much point, is there?)
