My friends keep calling me anorexic. Even those who don't know that I was hospitalised for a mental illness.

It's really frustrating because a girl in hospital DID have anorexia and was recovering atleast physically, but my friends from hospital keep saying 'You don't want to end up like her do you?'

I'm not losing any weight at all, but I'm eatting a piece of fruit and a few sandwiches maybe a day.

I think I'm caving into my mum's pressure for me to be thinner (I'm about 60 kilos/ 132 pounds) so I am a bit heavy, but I'm not overweight. But nothing I do makes her happy. I won't eat much so she'll be happy, and at first she will be until I feel ill and she'll say I have to watch out for my blood sugars. But when I do what she wants, my friends get scared.

I don't know what to do. I want to be thinner, but I don't want my friends to keep calling me anorexic. It degrades people with anorexia and those who have recovered as some sort of small illness when it usually isn't.

Ypur mom needs her head examined her attitude is unhealthy and yours is healthier. dont cave to pressure. just eat what feels right and tell your friends teh situation and to either stop grating on you or to shove it.

That sounds pretty frustrating. At your weight you shouldn't worry about being thinner. It sounds like you're within the healthy range, and those comments are just making you more self conscious.

You're not anorexic, clinically speaking.

And I agree. If you're at a healthy weight, and you feel healthy, then screw what your mother says. Don't feel pressured to lose weight, and if you ever do want to lose weight, do so in a healthy way.

I say talk to your friends about how they're making you feel. Sometimes people don't realize that what they consider meaningless jibes can really hurt people, or are simply expressing concern the only way they know how.

I don't think you're anorexic, but I do think you /are/ at risk for it. Your mom needs to back off, but knowing parents, she probably won't. Just try to eat healthy without bending completely into your mom's ideas about how weight loss should work.

you should look up some info about weight for age groups and stuff and print it out and leave it for your mom to leave. The best way to fight anyone is with a healthy doese of fact sheets.and for your friends as well

You shouldn't care what others think. Just do what you feel is right. 3nodding

Your weight sounds fine to me. I don't know why your mother is harping on about it. So, I recommend: do watch what you eat, but if you're actually hungry, eat something. If you're not, don't. And have done.

If you're worried about diabetes, you do need to watch blood sugar levels, but otherwise I'm not sure why worry, unless they go wildly all over.
