I hear voices telling me to kill other people. I wan't to but I REALLY don't. It's hard to explain. Am I homocidal? crying

I'm obviously not a professional or anything, because there's LOTS of reasons why you hear voices.

My sister's depression was so bad that she started hearing voices like that, but then it turned out to be a side effect from the medication she was on! When I was on Effexor, I also had a bad reaction and heard voices telling me to do awful things. I weaned myself off of the drug and eventually the voices stopped.

If you're not on medication, or if it's not that, then there's probably a number of disorders that would cause you to feel this way... my uncle's ex-wife had schizophrenia and heard voices telling her to kill people for a long time. She ended up being hospitalized and put on medication. I don't know if that solved it, as my uncle ended up divorcing her. sweatdrop

Obviously the best bet is to try asking a doctor...

No, you are not homocidal, but you may still be a danger to yourself or others if you are having command hallucinations. Talk to your doctor about ways to reduce command hallucinations or deal with them.

Do you have a regular psychiatrist or psychotherapist? If so, put a call through to them and tell them what's going on. If not, you should seriously consider going to someone.

The various reasons that I know of for having hallucinations can range from sleep deprivation to mental illness to drug use (particularly cocaine), and any one of those is a reason to talk to your doc.

Just hold onto the fact that what the voices are telling you to do is not something that you really want to do, and that you can get help from people who will understand what you're going through.

*nods* I got that from reading your other posts. I should have gone back and changed my post in this thread, I appologize for not doing so.

Are you doing any better? Have you talked to your doctor?

Its ok right now. I can control myself while having the energy to do other things, but sometimes when it is really bad I just cant do anything. I have to fully exert myself just to keep from doing the things that the voices ask me to do.
