The weather was finally getting warmer and the days longer, tell tale signs that summer was definitely approaching. Though ever so often the sky's would open to let rain fall, also showing that summer still wasn't quite there yet and that'd you'd have to wait just a little longer. Today was quite a pleasant day, the sky clear of any clouds, a nice bright blue, the temperature warm accompanied by a faint cooling breeze. One lady decided to seize the chance and go out today, take advantage of the nice weather while it lasted, for all she knew it could rain the next day, so why not just have fun while it was nice? This lady, or young lady considering she was only sixteen, was Lazrin. A petite girl standing at 5'3, with quite a pretty face. Her skin a light peach, with faint rosy cheeks, dark lips and big blue eyes. Her hair was nice golden red hue, reaching to below her chin and very wavy. Her build was slender, yet boyish and quite flat chested, much to her dismay, so she chose to wear baggy clothes. The garments she was wearing today consisted of a large cut out at the shoulders, high necked, carmine hued shirt with long, empire styled sleeves. Around her neck she wore a thin black choker and silver heart shaped necklace. Upon her lower half she was clad in a long cornflower blue skirt, reaching to her ankles. Upon her feet were simple, cowboy styled boots, that reached to the tops of her calves.

Lazrin was sat against the trunk of an old oak tree, beside her sat a small, red radio, the paint chipping on various parts of it. Playing was a calming song, slow, yet with a catchy tune, the genre country. The girl listened to the song in silence as she read, most of her attention on the pages of the book. Ever so often she'd lift her head to glance at the scenery, but she'd quickly return to reading, sometimes humming along to the tune of each song that played. The book she was currently interested in, was a book she had read many times before, she considered it her comfort book, even though it didn't have a very happy story, quite a sad one in fact, she enjoyed it because in the end you got a good answer and satisfaction. The book was written from the point of view of a girl who had been murdered, yes it was quite a grim sound story, but Lazrin enjoyed it, it was well written and a good tale as far as she was concerned. Even though she knew the ending and most likely the whole story off by heart now, she couldn't help be read it again and again, whenever she felt upset, or mad or lonely, the ending was what made her happy, because in the end all turned out OK.

Lifting a hand she flicked the page over, her attention lifting for a moment to gaze out at the rolling hills of the field. The long blades of grass and the tall colorful flowers swayed within the gentle breeze. A beautiful sight it was, but Lazrin didn't quite appreciate it, due to the fact that most of her attention was on the book within her grasp, but her attention was quickly stolen by the horrible buzzing sound the radio began to make, nothing a good whack wouldn't fix. Placing the book down, she moved her hand over the top of the radio and brought her hand down, bopping it lightly until the buzzing stopped and the sounds of the music returned ''Your definitely getting old.'' She sighed, patting the top of the radio softly as if to say sorry for the bop. Now that the book had lost her attention she could finally get a good long look at the area around her. She knew the area well, considering her home was quite near the field, but each time she came new things seemed to appear, or things she had never seen would pop up here and there. All in all the adventure was different each time, like when you re read a book you haven't touched in years and you understand things you didn't understand when you had first read it.

''The day is beautiful yet all I do is read.'' She tutted, quite annoyed at herself, sure she could do something, but she just couldn't think of what to do or if she really wanted to do it. Oh how life was ever so complicated at times. She slowly drew her hand along the blades of grass, a tickling sensation going through her hand as the grass intertwined through her fingers.

Today was one of the more perfect days that Leona had seen in a long while -- bright, beautiful, things in full bloom. It was hard to believe that winter had come and gone, spring had breezed by and summer was quickly following on its wings.

The cow woman had much the same idea as Lazrin: go out and enjoy the day, doing whatever it was that she could, and for Leona, that was going out and picking flowers. The bakery where she worked and lived could certainly do with some brightening up, more flowers and pretty things to decorate its windows and invite customers in. It was almost always inviting as it was, Leona herself pleasantly plum and jovially looking, but with the added decorations the place had more of a quaint charm, a little country shop not too far from a farm.

Clad in a sundress with one of those floppy bonnets perched on her head, Leona set off with a wicker basket over her arm, intent on her collecting. From where she was, she couldn't see Lazrin, just the tree she sat against, and was startled at the sound of it talking. In this world, with all of its wonders, a talking tree probably would not be all that uncommon, but Leona knew better. A smile spread across her face and she called out in response, "My root bound friend, why not do something else? It's surely a lovely enough day to dance with your branches in the wind."

''Hm.'' Lazrin blinked, her eyebrows furrowing in confusion, had she just heard something? Looking around she blinked a further few times, nothing. All that she saw were familiar, no knew things had suddenly appeared and certainly there wasn’t any person there, well at least she thought so, she wasn’t exactly sure. There was no harm in checking, right? So Lazrin decided to tuck her book beneath her arm, grab her radio and get up to have a look around. Her footing was quite wobbly without her hands to steady herself, once or twice she nearly fell over, the latter resulting in her dropping her precious book, which she indeed was not thrilled about ‘’Oh for goodness sake.’’ She grumbled, bending down and grabbing the book by it’s spine, giving it a quick dust off then tucking it back under her arm. She moved herself away from beneath the shade of the tree, making herself more visible to any passers by. Awkwardly she lifted her hand up to shade her eyes as she scanned the lush green fields, her eyes squinting in order to get a better look ''Hello?’’ She shouted, listening carefully for any response, but now she needed no response, her gaze fell upon the form of what she guessed was a woman, age she couldn't tell and what species she was she couldn't tell that either. Lazrin did not approach at first, instead she chose to just stand and watch, pondering on whether to talk to this individual or not, but she decided on the first option. Her dark lips parted as she began to speak ''I'm not a tree.'' She commented, leaving it at that, her short bouncy locks swaying about within the gentle breeze.

Turning herself to the side she began to make her way down the hill into the lower fields, the spurs on her boots making muffled 'clinking' sounds as she walked. Lazrin may have come off quite rude but really she's just a really shy gal, often putting on a rather grumpy and none confrontational front just so she didn't have to really be near anybody, the thing she hated the most was one on one interaction, often liking to be a lone, much more comfortable as far as she was concerned, but then again not everyone made it easy for her and often confronted her anyway. With her mind set on getting away, Lazrin didn't notice the toe of her boot getting caught on a small mound of grass, causing her to trip forward. Luckily she didn't fall but sadly she had dropped all of her stuff. Her fists clenched and her gaze narrowed accusingly at the mound of grass as if to say 'you did this on purpose didn't you?'. Sighing she knelt down to pick her belongings up, first the book and second the radio, part of the screen slightly smashed, oh lovely ''This is perfect.'' She sighed once more, her expression had changed from its previous grumpiness to a more softer, saddened expression, she loved the little red radio and now it was broken, she wasn't sure if this style was made anymore or cold even get repaired, oh joy, she thought, tucking the radio safetly under her arm.

Leona couldn't help but laugh as the small girl (though Leona herself wasn't much taller) popped popped out from behind the tree, the sound a light, pleasant lilt. "I can see that," she replied, voice full of mirth, before the other girl walked away. The cow woman wasn't put out in the slightest as she went -- some people just weren't in to the company of strangers and who could blame them? Especially one seeming to be much younger than herself.

For a moment, Leona watched the retreating form, gentle breeze tugging at the skirt of her sunshine yellow dress. When she turned to leave to continue her task, she heard the crunching of something in the grass -- that little red radio -- and winced, whipping back around.

There hadn't been the sound of a body falling, at least not that Leona could discern, but the poor girl looked put out over something. Green eyes roaming over Lazrin for a moment, making sure that she was okay, the cow's gaze fell to the broken radio. It had an old, quaint look to it that Leona liked in items, feeling it gave them more personality, and now it was just battered and bashed, at the end of its long days.

"You alright there, hon?" Leona called, moving closer slowly so as not to startle the other girl.

Lazrin let out a long sigh, brushing her hands down the front and back of her skirt, dusting it off, trying to make herself look more presentable, after all ignoring this new comer wasn't exactly option, so she chose to just converse slightly, not anything long, just a short sweet conversation, at least she hoped so. She turned herself around to face the woman, giving her a quick glance up and down once more, now able to make out more of her features, one being that she was of bovine origin and two she was very pink and short, though a little taller than Lazrin herself. She was quite a pretty woman, though Lazrin assumed by the way she spoke that she was older than her, late teens, early twenties, whatever ''Yeah I'm fine, but I'm not a 'hon' sugar, I'm Lazrin.'' She sighed, running a hand through her gingery golden locks. Although Lazrin was young she did have quite defined features for her age, which she assumed would most likely get more defined as she grew, all in all she was quite a pretty girl, apart from her boyish figure, which she detests with a passion, once again assuming that not a lot of people liked that in a girl ''Look, I appreciate the worry, but I'm fine, it's just this that's not.'' She grumbled, holding up the rather ruined little red radio. Indeed Lazrin did appreciate the fact that the woman checked if she was ok, but it just got her flustered when she just had embarrassed herself in front of the bovine female.

A thin brow lifted as she looked the other female over once more, her arms folding across her chest as she pondered ''Who might you be anyway?'' She asked, her tone more calm and with less bitterness to it. She did indeed wonder who this woman was, never having seen her before, maybe she was new to the neighbour hood, well if you could call it a neighbour hood, all this place basically was, was farm land, filled with many farm houses and shops dotted about in various areas, they weren't built very close together and that's why Lazrin liked to live there, she could just be by herself without any annoyance or interruption or contact, though it did get lonely at times for the small female, she didn't really know anyone, except some shop keepers in the small town not to far from her home, but that was it basically, a very lonely life she led, it was sad really.

Leona made no comment on the 'sugar' on the retort of her calling the girl 'hon.' Just a wee bit hypocritical, but the cow woman was amused all the same. Oh, the stubbornness and defiance of youth; she rather missed her days as the headstrong teenager she had been, talking back to the adults. It still struck her as being odd now that she was at the other end of that.

The woman adjusted the basket on her arm, pink hair fluttering in the wind and a few strands catching and twirling themselves around a horn. She held out a chubby hand for Lazrin to shake if she so chose, introducing herself with a smile. "'M Leona. I just moved here not all that long ago," she said, as if in response to the unasked question of Lazrin's.

Indeed she had just moved here, living on a little ranch not too far away with an old friend of hers from her school days. The woman she was staying with had an extra house that she let Leona convert into a bakery, a dream of hers she had had ever since the cow woman was a child.
