Five days. Five days of torrential rains plagued the lands. The water carved new landscapes, leaving many Zahina's stranded or even lost. Suri was not one of them, having no home of her own, but she hated the rain. There was nothing to compare to a bright sunny day with a cool breeze, which was just what she enjoyed. Instead she was stuck in this... the worst storm she'd ever seen. Lightning and thunder littered the sky, and there was a faint smell of smoke on the air, probably from a strike to one of the trees.
Getting farther into the treed landscape, Suri felt a tug, a pull even. Before she knew where she was headed, she was there. A mountainside spotted with caves. Lions had lived here at one point, she could smell it, but if there were any here now, she could not tell. None were outside, and she heard not a peep from the largest of the caves. Mentally shrugging off any warning instinct she may have, her need to get out of the rain was greater this day. With confidence she was used to showing, she marched proudly into the largest of the caves to wait out the storm.
(( There will be prompting events throughout this RP, leading our characters toward a goal. Stick around! Non prided lions are especially accepted, as this is a prequal to Lytha Pride, Suri's pride. Anyone, however, is free to join ^_^! ))

Kero PatchKerosene felt awkward in the storm. She felt awkward anytime it was dark. Though she was proud of her glowing spots, she hated the attention. And of course the moment the clouds came in she bumped into a lioness that needed a lantern. Well, ok not exactly.Patch had been looking for her mate and daughter when the storm hit. Being heavy and weak she couldn't get through the storm very fast. It grew darker and darker. It was bliss. The last time the wind shrieked like this was when she was a cub. It was so scary back then. What a memorable night it was. That day she met Kahawa, her mate. The storm willed them to be together. Perhaps this storm had plans for her too.
That's when Patch saw a swarm of glowing spots. Bugs maybe? No, it was a lioness. They chatted about weather, pregnancy, awkwardness, and then of coarse those odd glowing spots. Kerosene felt obligated to guide Patch back home, because she was pregnant. But both lionesses felt safe in scary storm weather. They decided fighting the wind was a dumb idea. Soon the wind had pushed them through the woods to the cliffs and caves. Patch, being an adventure lover, thought it was a good place to stay till the wind went down. They found a small cave. "Kahawa. Airi. Wherever you two are, I hope the storm doesn't harm you," Patch said as a tear wiped across her eye, "I wonder if Kahawa is thinking about the day we met too. That will keep him confident."Meanwhile Kero spotted Suri in a larger cave below them. "Hey, are you alright over there?" she called down.

The noise took her by surprise. It had been an hour or so since she'd stepped into the cave to warm and dry herself. She'd not seen a soul around, though evidence of pride activity was everywhere, if not old. She assumed that the pride that had once lived here were either in the caves above her, or not here anymore. It was lucky for her if they weren't, since the place was automatically growing on her. Her dreams of leading a pride and having as many cubs as she could flittered across her mind more than once in this strange place.
Hearing the voice however, she was snapped out of her reverie. "I'm fine, though a bit soggy. You're welcome to come in and share the cave... more body heat would do this place good. It's nice and dry in here." She was sure it was safe. She didn't know how she knew, but she just did.

Kero nodded to Patch and said, "Whoever is down there seems safe. We should go into her cave. It's safer in numbers."
When Patch heard someone was below them she thought 'Kahawa? Airi?'. She climbed out of the cave and into the one the voice came from. She completely forgot about how painful and difficult it was to do stuff like climb and run. All she could think about was how the storm led her to her loved ones again.
Then her eyes met Suri's. At first she couldn't spot her, but then Kero waked into the cave adding a little light. The lioness's fur matched the cavern walls and cascading shadows. It almost looked as though she was born to be here. Patch presumed that this must have been her home, or perhaps pride land.
Patch tried not to look down sadly. "Thank Zahina you look unharmed. Is there anyone else with you?" she asked.

Sensing the lioness's disappointment, Suri gravely shook her head. "I'm sorry, but i'm the only one here that i know of." Eyeing the two, it was hard to believe that such a pair would be caught out in the rain. One was obviously on the verge of having a litter, and the other stood out in the darkest of shadows. She took an immediate liking to the glowing lioness however, and her companion. It was good to have company for once. Suri was never one to be alone for long, though her companions were usually of the male variety.
"I'm Suri. It's nice to see some friendly faces." She said, hoping that it were true. She didn't sense danger from these two, but one lioness could never be too careful, especially with Da'Lin lurking around.

Marne's mane was matted down to his shoulders, dripping with the harsh rain that pounded against him. A grey rabbit was clamped firmly between his jaws, mud mingling with blood, a sign of the clawing and digging he'd had to do to catch prey in this terrible storm.
The storm itself didn't bother him so much as the inability to hunt did. If he were able to find a good, large prey, he might respect the angry harshness of the storm a little more. But, all of the prey were in their dens or well hidden in the brushes from the storm, and he had no patience to tear down the earth to go in search of them.
He headed toward the mountain of dens, a place he'd known was far from well-inhabited. He took comfort in the fact that a pride had once lived here, despite the obvious signs that something had driven them away. But today he was greeted with a very unwelcome surprise as he padded his way into his den, claws clacking against the hard stone.
Females lingered in the dark shadows, their voices unfamiliar to him. These were not females he'd known or had relations with, merely strangers to him and his home.
He dropped the bloody, mangled rabbit at his paws and let out a roar that echoed off the walls of the den, something that would likely startle te faint of heart. "WHAT, are you doing in my den?" He snarled, kicking his rabbit to the side and moving toward them. He was in no mood for company, especially not with his stomach as empty as it was.

Patch let her worries hide behind a smile. "Yeah it is," she replied to the lioness, "I'm just glad that you look alright. It's just really good to know that there haven't been any casualties yet." With that remark a green silhouette dripping with what looked like mud, or blood, swooped into the cave and threw a lacerated rabbit carcass to the ground. Perhaps Patch spoke to soon. The male, with the assistance of Kero's light, appeared to be a Dalin. He roared and Patch felt her cubs shaking in fear. Patch usually loved meeting green lions like herself. This time not so much. It broke her heart that she was the weakling in the room tonight. She couldn't fight this guy or even talk back. How depressing.
Kero sighed. This was just great. Patch looked like a family meal for the visitor and Kero herself looked like a neon sign for the all you can kill buffet. (This is my words, not Keros. Obviously Kero doesn't know what a neon sign is.) She kept her mouth shut. But if worst comes to worst she would fight this guy for the sake of the cubs, Patch, and the lioness that she just barley even know. It was a shame they couldn't even exchange names yet.

Darius grumbled as he trodded along, looking for a place to hide from the rain. He hated rain. There wasn't a thing that was good about it. It made you cold- he was already shaking, chilled to the bone. It made food difficult to find. It made the plants grow, and even thinking about that made him sneeze. But worst of all, rain made you unhandsome. It matted your fur and snarled your mane, and it made you keep your eyes shut all the dang time so you couldn't charm lionesses with them. Yup. No doubt about it, there was nothing good about rain. As he grumbled, he picked up on a wonderful smell. The scent of other lions managed to make its way through the deluge, so, urging his sodden body into a trot, he loped after the scent. He didn't want to be alone on a night like this. But, when he found the source, he immediately decided that solitude was far preferable to the situation he'd just stumbled into. With a slackjawed expression, Darius surveyed the scene. Ohgoddess. Three females. One pregnant. And one angry Da'lin male, whose cave this seemed to be. He considered backing out of the cave and hoping that the Da'lin hadn't seen him, but he knew that he'd been spotted. There was no way he wouldn't have been, thanks to the lightning outside. And he couldn't leave a pregnant female to face a Da'lin. He knew how dangerous of fighters lionesses could be, but such an encounter might hurt her cubs. Silently, he waited to see what would happen. If the Da'lin wanted to fight, he'd fight; if the females just wanted to leave, he'd escort them.

((These two shall be at the cave in a second xD))

Caelum Uncert
One second Caelum was padding happily enough through the short, and almost dead, grass, and the next second a deep rumble resounded overhead and rain began to fall down like angels flying from the heavens. Pressing an ear back, he grumbled. He was too far away from his cave to make it back safely. He'd have to try and find some other shelter.
Airi shuddered and looked up from her playing. A storm. Her small eyes grew wide and she began to shake, despite her usually brave appearance. Not again, she couldn't loose her new parents too! Tears flooding into her eyes, she squeaked in fear as a bolt of lightning flew down and hit the ground a fair distance from her.
Gasping for breath and terrified out of her wits, she saw the first cover she could-a small bush-and ran towards it on her small and clumsy paws. Tripping, she found herself summersaulting and landing on the ground with a thud. The water thrashed down around her, drenching her fur and giving it a silvery sheen. Her fur began to stick up despite the water from fear as she crawled under the bush and hid.
Caelum jumped slightly as he heard something move not too far away. For a second, he froze, his heart pounding almost as loudly as the thundering rain. Taking a tentative step forwards, he began to move towards the bush where the movement had come from, all senses alert. Suddenly, he heard a small sneeze and his ears pricked up in surprise. Gently, he nosed his way through the leaves and found himself face to face with a small lion cub.
Airi found a big black and white thing suddenly being shoved against her muzzle. Squeaking in disgust, for it was a wet thing, she leaned back and suddenly saw calm eyes watching her. She gulped and hoped he would be a nice lion. She felt too miserable to put up with a mean one right now.
With a kind purr, Caelum smiled at the cub. "You're a long way from everyone else. What are you doing hiding under a bush in weather like this?"
Airi paused, heart thundering loudly against her small ribs. "I-I'm sheltering from the storm." She flicked an ear back before adding, "I think i've lost my second parents... just like the first time." Her eyes overflowed with tears suddenly as she looked down at the ground, biting her lip to try and stop the hot, salty water.
With a kind blink, Caelum pulled his head out of the bush. Even though he wasn't a father himself, he felt as though he should help and protect the little cub. "Come on out, we'll find some shelter and I promise I'll help you find your parents again." His voice was a soft and pleasant rumble through the echoes of pouring water.

"Well?!" His voice boomed. "If you're going to stand there, you three have some explaining to do!" He was angry, sure, but he wouldn't make the first attack. On the contrary, they needn't do much else but tell them why they were there, shut up, and then leave as soon as the storm was over. But, should they be stupid, he would not consider himself in the wrong for tearing them apart.
He turned, mind set on retrieving his meal as he waited for an answer, but the lightening lit the skit and silhouetted another lion, this one a male. "For the love of the gods! There must be at LEAST fifteen other dens in this forsaken hill!" His voice shook with what sounded like anger, thought it was more like desperation to have the same lonely peace he'd come home expecting.
"I hope none of you are expecting a meal, either. I've barely got food for myself." He snorted and tapped his claws on the stone floor, awaiting one of them to stop gawking and explain themselves.

So many lions all at once suddenly. The male at the entrance was intruiging, willing to stand up for the females it seemed, that he didn't even know. The Da'Lin, which was obvious with his features however, set her on edge, and made her crave one of her partners protection. She was a brave lion, but she hated getting into fights. She was confident that she could take the lion with help, but Da'Lin were known for being tricksters and foes with outstanding skill.... she didnt' want a confrontation.
"We weren't aware it was anyone's cave. There weren't any signs of recent life that we could find. We could go to another cave if you wish, but with more bodies, this cave will be warmer for it." She summoned all her courage to keep the waver out of her voice. It had worked. She'd sounded cool and resolved to staying in the cave. Oh how things worked. Zahina guide them!
Turning to the male still standing at the entrance, she motioned for him to come in and over to them. "What's your name?" She asked, thankful that there was another on their side.

Airi looked up at Caelum and couldn't help but smile a wobbly smile. "Alright." She said, creeping out from her bush. Even as the rain pelted down, she somehow felt safe, so much that not even the loud rumbling overhead or the frightening bolts of lightning that struck the ground, could hurt her.
Caelum looked at the poor cub, "Stand underneath me, then you won't get wet." He didn't want her to catch a cold or anything, that could just be bad. "My name's Caelum, by the way."
Feeling a bit better, Airi ran underneath the big lion's figure. "M'name's Airi." She replied with a happy flick of her tail. And so, the two lions set out to find some shelter where they could stay, because a bush was definitely not enough cover for one small cub and an overly-large male.
Padding forwards, Caelum could just about make out a... cliff? Something like that. It was pretty far away. "I'll bet there's some caves down there. Let's go check them out, shall we?"
Airi gave a bleak nod. The water in her fur was cold and making her very miserable. The pang in her heart seemed to grow larger and fiercer as she yearned for Patch and Kahawa.
Gently giving the cub a friendly push with his nose, the two began to draw closer and closer. Sure enough, there was a set of caves there. And what was even odder, a lot of lions seemed to be gathering there. Hearing the end of the conversation, he growled slightly. That Da'lin had to right to be like that! He could just make out a pregnant female inside, who must have been very vulnerable, and a protective urge built up within him. The other male didn't seem to be helping much either.
"That's no way to treat some fine ladies, now is it?" He said, his voice cold. His usually friendly attire had fallen. It was quite well known that Caelum was an overprotective brute, even to strangers, and he felt the need to save those females inside. "Maybe you should just let them be for now. After all, you are sadly outnumbered, my Da'lin friend." With that, he padded into the cave and stood in front of the lionesses, ready to fight if need be.
Airi looked in awe as she saw the lion stand up to the Da'lin. Wow. He was so brave! And very kind to have looked after her. Her small eyes strayed over to the other lions. Suddenly, everything lit up. Patch! Patch was there! With a happy wave of her tail, the cub bounded over to her adoptive mother and buried her head in her side. She was trembling slightly, and not just from the cold, but didn't say a word.

Patch's mind wasn't really in the here-and-now. She knew Kahawa was fine, wherever he may be. But Airi, she had suffered a terrible loss the last time she lived through a storm. Patch wasn't with her now. Hopefully Kahawa was with her. If not, the poor girl was probably traumatized. Patch should have been with her. "Kero, I don't know if the Dalin will allow us to leave but if you can, the moment you are given the opportunity could you do me a favor? My daughter is out in the storm. She's brown with spots and black and white stripes. She answers to the name Airi. Could you please find her? I'd do anything to know she's safe," Patch whispered to Kero.
Kero was shaky. What could she do now? She stood next to the lioness that seemed to me taking charge. She defiantly was brave and rational. Things needed to go safely and quickly.
Then things took a lucky turn. A voice could be heard outside, dictating the Dalins actions. Then from the shadows and brush outside, a small cup leaped into the cave, bolted past the Dalin, and into Patch's paws. "Airi! Oh thank Zahina. I'm so sorry we weren't together," Patch said crying and snuggling the poor trembling cub. Everything the right with the world. Well, until Patch remembered the situation Airi had just leaped into. She held her close. She wouldn't let a thing hurt her.

Marne growled. "Oh I just love how I'm no longer the one in charge of my own home!" He snarled, snatching up the mangled rabbit, and moved to the mouth of the cave where rain still sprayed his coat on occasion. "You may stay, as you all so politely request," his voice dripped with angry sarcasm and he glared at the incoming males, "but do not get used to this hospitality."
With that he flopped down onto his stomach, sinking his long teeth into the prey and ripping off a chunk with a sickening tearing sound. His red eyes glanced over at the group on occasion, emotion hidden from view. He was unhappy to be sharing his cave with so many strangers, but he had no strength at the time to fight so many off.
