I just got a new octagonal stand for mine from my boyfriend. It's split into 3 sections really; God, Goddess and then the center which is kind of my "Spirit" section. it has my pentacle and a silver candle and such. I also keep a lot of shells on my altar because my element is water. I also have it set up in front of my windows, I thought that was a good place for it. {Baby, I'm nothing without you} {So let's fly away together} ✖♥✖♥

I miss having my altar. sad Since I moved back into my parents house, I can't really have a permanent one, so I have a mini "altar" ontop of my drawers. It consists mostly of my crystals, cauldron and wand, with a couple of candle holders, crystal jewellery and my moon perfume bottle. This is how I had my old one set up most of the time, although it changed depending on how I was working.

I used to have a gorgeous blue frosted glass chalice, but my big fossil egg was thrown off it's stand and crushed it. sad Something/one musn't have approved.
I'm going to contruct my makeshift altar later and take a picture for an update :p

I use to have a fairly nice altar. It was a cedar table, I had velvet throws and one I had made with dolphins on it that I had put on top. And then I had a metal chalice with a pentacle on it, athame's, runes, a smudge along with abalone shell to put it in, pewter cauldron. Statuettes. And cats. I say this because my cats loved trying to sleep on it. Which they normally didn't get away with just because they would knock things off.
But I don't have it anymore because my parents took the liberty of putting in a storage unit which was broke into by who we think was tweakers because they took some odd stuff..Need less to say they took my altar stuff too.
And I can't set one up where I live now because there isn't any room and I do live in care giving for my grandmother, who is only accepting of my beliefs to extent.

Sorted. xp hmmm....i've been told that if you iron it thru a paper towel, the steam will melt the wax and the paper towel will absorb the wax out of the cloth... is that the general idea you were going for?

Your alter's all sound and look beautiful.
But I was wondering, I don't have a patron Goddes/God and was wondering why might one a make an alter if one has no one to honor?
I'd like to have a big main one in this one area of my room for my main alter, which I do not have built yet.
Though I do have Hecate, Diana, and Aphrodities alters in various places. They are just not my patron.
Am I making sense?

You're making sense You don't need a patron god/goddess You can just put on your altar things that are sacred to you or things you're connected to An altar doesn't have to honor a god or a goddess, you could just use it to honour/worship 'Spirit'
If that made sense >.<

That's what I thought. The reason why I asked was because I was seeing all these people gloating about their patron/matron deity.
I always assumed if the deity wanted to be your patron/matron, that deity would come to you.
Right?
I assumed you really didn't need one and that it was a lot of hard work anyways.
I mean, I have alters for deities that I want to work for or with and a main alter that I do rituals and crafting. I just never thought about a patron/matron before until now.
Though.. Now that this is all cleared up, I really like that empty space. So I'm going to move my main self alter to that area. xD I'm selfish, I know. But it gives me more room to do more things.
Thank you, Extravagantly Yours. That helped a lot.

Our altar is in two sections.... My permanent altar and a wall of altar supplies for larger rituals. My husband doesn't have a permanent altar. This is my permanent altar... It is broken up into sections. Ancestor is to the left, center top is main altar, center bottom art supplies (yes I use art a lot in my personal practice of my path), and right is a muse area. This is our wall of altar supplies, religious books, and our collection of grimoires hehe. You'll notice the abundance of dragons heheh We plan on adding more of course. Soon the whole scheme of altar supplies will be dragons.
