The lion sighed as he lay down. It was hot, as usual, on the plains. The sun beat down heavily, its rays soaking into his fur and making his back burn uncomfortably. Well, he was lucky. He didn't have a huge mane to lug around as well, but whether that was more of a blessing or a curse was hard to tell. He panted for a while, struggling to regain his breath.
Eder had been walking around for a long time now, trying to find some shelter from the heat. Sure, it was a tough life, but that's what he got for living the life of a loner. Not that he had much of a choice, of course, but still. Closing his blue eyes for a second, he tried to make himself cool down. Hottest day of the year and he was stuck outside. Lovely.

Allure padded along the dusty ground, head held high as though she owned the place. Even with her black fur, she was totally oblivious to the heat. A small red mask hung from her face, the tassel moving from side to side with every step she took. The ribbons threaded through her tail glittered as the sun reflected off them. Oh yes, today was her kind of day.
Suddenly, a shape loomed ahead in the distance. She could tell from the big, sloping shoulders and the powerful frame that it was clearly a male, yet he seemed to lack something. As she saw him shift his head slightly, she realized. No mane. A smirk curved the corners of her lips upwards. How cute. A determined spark lit up in her eye as she veered off course towards him. He'd be fun to mess around with, that was for sure.
As she drew closer and closer, she stopped and lay down a few paces away behind him, so he wouldn't notice her. "Well, hello there. Don't believe we've met, I'd have remembered someone as handsome as you." She said, a sly grin on her face.

Jumping slightly as a flirtatious voice spoke behind him, the lion turned around to look at her. He had to squint as the light blazed, reflecting off the gold stripes in her tail and on her back right into his eyes. He supposed she would be counted as attractive to other males, but she really didn't shine for him. But still, she would make a nice round of conversation.
Nodding politely, he realized one thing that shocked him. She had to be able to see that he didn't have a mane, yet she still talked to him? Wow. That was something. "Greetings, I'm Eder. And you are?" He hadn't quite caught onto the female's intentions, not that they would interest him anyway, so he saw no issue standing between him and talking to her like a friend. She was being friendly, right?
His eyes strayed over to her mask. Now that was something, not many lions walked around with a mask, especially on such a day. It accented her eyes nicely too, the rim of the mask being the same color as her yellow iris. How unusual.

Allure couldn't help but spread a tempting grin over her face as he introduced himself. Forward. She liked that, a lot. "Don't be so formal now." She chided lightly, stretching her legs out in front of her. The muscles rippled smoothly beneath her groomed, silky pelt. "My name is..." She paused for effect, "Allure." A deep purr built up in her throat as she eased out of her stretch and scooted closer to the male.
She watched as his eyes strayed over to her mask. Oh, she had him under her spell. That was for sure. "You like my mask?" She questioned him, looking up at him from under her eyelashes. It has been a while since she'd crashed into another male, and she would make sure to have fun with him. Lots and lots of fun.

Eder smiled politely as she moved closer. She wasn't repulsed by him! Now that was something. He purred gently back to show he appreciated her effort in going out of her way to be nice. "Allure... Nice name." He flicked his tail teasingly, "I'm sure all the males swoon over you. You look very nice." Not once did the thought cross over his mind that she didn't know about his orientation.
"Yes, it's a lovely mask." He nodded briefly, a smile rising over his face. "It really compliments your eyes, brings out subtle orange undertones." Pausing for a second, he felt curiosity welling up within him. "Where did you get it from?" His eyes traced over the rest of her decorations. She had gold streaks braided through her tail, and a few ribbons tied around the top of it too. Gold streaks meandered their way across her back.
Well, she certainly dressed up well. Maybe she was part of a pride, and it was customary within it. Or maybe she was a loner and wore whatever trinkets she happened to possess. Either way, she had a good fashion sense.
