 The sun was high in the sky, he hated this time most of all during the day. It was about noon and he was practically melting, black fur stunk for beautiful weather, He much preferred the rain pouring and cloud cover. But, the world couldn't please all.
Marrihk was his name, black fur, red and white stripes and that little piece of treasure he carried around that tasted sweet as fresh river water in the early morning. His little treasure, no one was allowed to touch it.
Carrying on about his daily routine he came across a different scent. Three wolves? He pondered how poorly the outcome of this venture brewing in his mind may go. He wasn't sure of wolves. He was one, but were they all trustworthy. He always had that small voice in the back of his head telling him to only trust himself but, his curiosity had grown greater.
Though curious he wasn't one for confrontation and soon began to doubt his want of going. He'd see next time! That thought brightened his day and he began to drift away like the loner he was.

 Chiv sat crouched within the ferns somewhat off the trail - she'd been pursuing the trail of a rabbit when the strangely marked wolf had crossed her line of site. Although she wasn't practiced at such things the male seemed somewhat...lost, although perhaps she was misreading those pretty violet eyes he had. Chiv had never before seen eyes that softly glowed after all.
Pacing the lone as he drifted away from their den site Chiv ran low to the ground on an adjacent game trail, coming ahead of him before popping out in front of him and waving her tail in a friendly manner.
"Hello!"
she barked at this approaching form - and hoped that he would neither flee or become aggressive - although Merril and Mene were not far away and she could always call for help should that be the case.

Fear dripped slowly like molasses into his heart and he crouched low to the ground, ears back, body ready to turn to show his white belly in submission and tail tucked neatly beneath his legs. He hadn't met many.. friendly wolves so the tail wagging and jaws open in a wide almost puppy grin startled him.
"Uh.. Helloo..?" He says, heart still trying to leap up his throat and tail still lowered. It was a female, she was covered in two other scents, one female and the other male. He no longer feared this one but, the male was something to be careful about.
His glowing purple eye's glued their soft haze to the ground and he sat up on his haunches, tail still not very visible and jaws clenching his treasure.
"Hello." He said more clearly now, nerves still shaken but, voice a bit more steady. He was a brave wolf once he gathered his wits. An on going battle he could handle, a surprise attack.. he was useless.

Chiv watched as the male first dropped in total submission, fear wafting from him like scent from blooming wildflowers. well...crap..she really hadn't meant to startle him so - she had to remember that not everyone responded well to rambunctious greetings after all and she sat down on her haunches wrapping her tail around her limbs while she waited for him to settle some.
He seemed to regather himself fairly quickly though he still refused to look at her. Chiv wasn't quite sure what to make of that sort of thing quite yet - she had never thought of herself as an intimidating wolf. Peering at him she spoke - making sure to keep her voice friendly and soft sounding.
"I'm sorry I didn't mean to startle you - you looked...lost, perhaps I can help?"

She really did seem cool-tempered and relaxed, she was just excited he guessed and thus the approach she'd taken on greeting him. He gave a weak smile and shook his head. "I'm not really lost." He stated, his voice a bit shaky and worry lingered in it's undertones. He never really spoke much to anyone other then himself.
"I'm always where I want to be." His voice grew stronger with each word and his smile became clearer. he wasn't warmed up to her in no way at all. He was still unsure and had readied his legs to launch if he should need.
"The male..?" He began and shifted a bit on his paws. "The male is not around?" He asked. He had become a nervous wreck again. He was worried about the male coming to attack thinking Marrihk had taken his mate or something. Drama resided in his brain so purely taht he didn't know where to draw the line.

Chiv was momentarily puzzled by the wolfs shift of temperament - one moment he had been smiling perhaps deeming her not threatening and friendly as she intended - and the next a nervous wreak again. Legs tensed and paw shifting as though he thought to flee at any moment. What a poor creature she thought to herself - to be so very nervous and unsure. It was not a life she would want for any beast.
The Male? it seemed this was what he was most concerned with - ah he must mean Mene she realized with a start wagged her tail slightly in amusement.
"Mene? Oh he's probably off at the river"
Chiv responded after a moments thought and a glance at the sky to determine the time of day.
"but he's really quite friendly and you needn't worry about him none, all of us are friendly here. Where is it you ant to be..."
She trailed off.
"I'm sorry i don't think I caught your name...I'm Chivosi but my friends call me Chiv"

"My name.. My name is Marrihk. And so long as you're sure it's safe." He smiled a large wolf grin. Barking, exchange of names, staying before each other for more then a few seconds with smiles on their faces. Had he just made a friend? "It'sa pleasure to meet you Chivosi." He enjoyed using full names and took advantage of the taste that it brought. The taste of happiness. The joy shivered through his body and his tail began wagging lightly.
"I had no particular destination.. I was just wandering basically." He cocked his head a bit. "There are three of you, the wolf you mentioned, Mene, and the other. A female?" He asked. His nose wasn't the strongest at times.

"its lovely to meet you too Merrihk"
Merrihk ,what a interesting sounding name Chiv thought to herself, and she seemed to have some sort off theme going on with the wolves she met..Merrik,Mene..now Merrihk. The thought made her chuckle slightly.
"Yes...Merril, she's going to be our beta, Mene and I are starting a pack! it's going to be great, you see we were both wanderers like you but we were lonely with no one to talk to all the time and Merril is a wolf from the mountains, I don't know why she left she really doesn't like talking about it, but I think its sad. Anyways..our pack is going to be a sanctuary for wolves without a place to go - doesn't that sound lovely?"
She babbled out to the striped wolf. Why...he was wanderer himself apparently, he would understand the need for such a pack - she hoped anyways.

He sat there, silenced by her speech with a wolf grin on his face and a fresh wag to his tail. A pack!? He was beginning to have what he thought will be the best day of his life.
"I have no place to go." He said softly, thinking to himself more then outloud. As much as he was happy at that point he still was a bit off. He seemed to discuss with himself, answer and question, about whether he ought to through something out there. He won the small battle going on and became even happier.
"Would there by chance.. be any room for another?" He asked, he had settled himself though now an air of hope and joy and a weird twinge of anger deep down in Marrihk, just a sliver appeared floating about. The one he'd been arguing with wasn't to pleased though the one he was arguing with was no where.

Well he certainly was a strange beast Chiv thought to herself as he apparantly had some sort of inward battle - I mean she'd seen wolves talk to themselves before of course but it was typically just random comments - more like thinking outloud then having a discussion.
Chiv brushed this off however - since he seemed amible enough and clearly he fit in to what they were gearing for - wolves wth no place else to go. It was to her mind a brilliant idea and by Marrihks joy it seemed he was quite eagar to join them.
"Of course there would be! Why theres only the three of us at the moment and that hardly constitutes a proper pack. But you'll make four and I'm sure there will be more shortly - alot of loney wolves in this land I think."
It was a sad thought but Chiv had to admit that of all the creatures she'd met so far only a very few had been hppily in a pack, the vast majority had been wandering loney for whatever reason. It was something she wished to change and offeing such wolves a sancuary for however long the desired one would go along ways to doing that.

Marrihk was overjoyed and relieved by the wonderful news that took only a brief moment to share. He'd no longer be alone. No longer have just himself as that little friend everyone needed. He had it all! Now it was meeting the others he worried about. Though that seemed a bit of a distant thing to come and fret about later.

Chivosi was pleased to see that Marrihk seemed pleased by her answer and rising she padded forward closer to the happy but still skittish wolf Chiv gave him a wolfy grin and danced into the forest alongside the trail.
"Well come on! lets go meet the others - they'll be thrilled!"

Marrihk jumped a bit at her sudden want to run away but, soon caught on and was tailing her along the trail he knew would be short. Thrilled? To meet me? He nearly laughed out loud but, decided not to mock the others wolfs excitement.
Menelaus could hear quick paw steps coming towards the den. There were two sets. He could smell that both were friendly and one was his dear Chivosi. He smiled, she had found another to join their steadily growing group.
His tail picked up and began wagging hard when he saw her come into view.

Chiv bounded over to Mene's side as they stepped into the clearing by the den, she bumbped him on he holder before turning about to make sure Marrihk had kept following her.
"He's a bit nervous.."
She said softly so only Mene would hear.
"Marrihk - meet Menelaus, Mene...Marrihk"

Menelaus gave a gentle happy grunt with the bump and nibbled her cheek softly as she spoke. "Mhm.." He'd smelled that about the other wolf. Though he could smell it more stronger as the other got closer and then he saw him. The slinking mass of black, white and red with a funny thing dangling from his jaws.
"Hello there." Mene stepped forward keeping himself a poised Alpha to be but, had an air of equality still with him. He wasn't the type to let the power he was slowly gaining go to his head but, he understand that to keep this pack running smoothly he had to show them who was boss. Though he smiled the whole time he did just that.
He began running more slowly, it nearly became a walk. As much as Chiv had reassured him he was still nervous. Wolves could change in a split second and attack even quicker then that. Knowing where to lunge and how to kill. It was a dangerous world out there and boy did Marrihk know it.
Then he saw the alpha. There he was, Chiv his mate, though Marrihk hadn't sensed that earlier but, looking at them now he saw it. "Hello." He stuttered through and lowered his entire body closer to the ground. He could feel the equality that Mene tried to use and the grin. He tried to feel it all but, those teeth and his poise it was enough to make him one of the biggest wolves he'd ever seen.
"It's nice to meet you Menelaus."
