Saint stood, muscular build as a full fledged adult Kalona now steadily heading around a crooked path in the darker place in the forest where he'd been born. The pure white stallion mumbled something harshly towards the ground as he kept his head high, proud of who he was, even if his blood was tainted. Crystal blue eyes were wide with wonder, as many times as he had seen the wonders of this forest, today was different. Since growing larger than his 'mother' Saint had split from her company, heading out on his own as most adults did. Full sized Kalona wings stretched out every now and again as he walked, he hadn't flown in a while and perhaps they were getting anxious for a breath of fresh air. He thought about his latest encounters with the other races around these lands, they mostly were afraid of him, with every right. His skin was that of a blood-thirsty monster, groaning at the pain in his heart he stared at the worn path in front of him, wondering if perhaps this is what his life would become. One of disgust for himself and empty wandering, he scoffed, everyone could make the best of a situation. Thinking about those he had met he specifically remembered Morana at that moment, she had made the best of her situation, even part Kalona she was so nice to him. Yes, he'd live like her, understanding of her skin but not letting that keep her down entirely. A smile crept across his muzzle while he walked, there was hope after all for even a Kalona with a heart.

The day was slowly dying away as the sun set behind the horizon and left a darkening sky over the land. A young unikalona mare walked along quietly. Not a sound was made, even when her pure white hooves hit the ground. Her ears flicked forward and back as she held her head in the air to catch the scent of anyone possibly near. Morana's ears quickly twitched in the direction of the sound of footfall... a stallion's footfall. She could tell it was a stallion by how hard his hooves hit the ground. He seemed to be a rather large stallion. Instinctively, her wings spread out slightly and a snarl appeared on her face. Lucky for her, she was downwind where the stallion would not catch her scent. As he grew closer and closer, Morana felt a bit more threatened and let a low growl rumble deep in her chest as a warning to whatever stallion was coming towards her. The stallion's footfall grew louder and his scent stronger. Wait a minute... why was his scent so familiar? Had she met this stallion before? Finally, the white stallion came into sight and Morana watched his movements closely.

Instinct should have kicked in, whether it had been that of Cerynei flight or Kalona fight but something should have taken over this brain and kicked his muscles into gear, instead he was rather unaware of a predatory animal around him, that was...until the growl. Pasty white ears lay flat on his head as his movements ceased to be calm, as Saint moved into the eyesight of this stalker he continued to feel more and more uncertain as he moved. Nobody had ever attacked, none the less hunted him, but he was sure this is what his mother had felt like when hunted. She'd told him nasty stories of attacks that left the aging mare paralyzed from fright. If there was one thing he was not like his loving mother for, it would be that he would not stop moving.

Flicking his ears again his striking blue eyes shifted from left to right and back again, trying to figure out where the sound had originated from. Hopefully this was a sensible being, but he doubted such. If they were sensible they would have come from hiding, confronted him or fled because of his looks. No, this animal was hunting, he was positive of it, why else would they have still be around. Saint couldn't see the beast, but he felt as though he was certainly being followed.

"Whoever is following me you might as well show yourself...."

His voice was clearly unstable but he tried to not show it. Physically he straightened his back, kept his wings tight to his massive body and lifted his head, holding it as he'd heard most Kalona did, proudly. He didn't feel proud, no, he felt afraid.

Morana smirked as she watched the stallion's movements. Oh how unfortunate for him not to know where exactly his stalker was. She wanted to giggle, but instead let her eyes focus on the large ivory stallion, her own ivory ears flicked forward to listen to his voice. A part of her wanted to attack and rip at his flesh, but something held her back. That bit of her that her father hated so much and that at times she herself hated. Her ears pinned against her skull and her lip curled up to reveal sharp fangs.

The young mare took a step out from where she was well hidden. Why not make this a little more interesting and let her prey know where she was? Suddenly, she froze. Her emotionless eyes scanned the stallion. Those ivory scales, those golden horns, and those blue eyes that reminded her of her own mother were all too familiar. Where did she see this stallion before? Her pupiless eyes closed for a moment then quickly opened. The colt?

"You are lucky I didn't attack you, stallion," Morana said simply as she took a few steps towards the stallion with her tail lashing behind her. Oh how he would make a nice dinner... No! This was Augustine, he was the little colt she decided not to harm not too long ago. "My you have grown." The mare compared herself to the much bigger stallion. She was much smaller than the average kalona mare, since she was half unicorn. "I didn't think I would see you ever again." The blood stained mare said as she let her eyes wander over the stallion.

"Morana?"

Almost letting his voice crack, regressing to a younger version of himself the stallion was completely in surprise at the mare's appearance. She was the one hunting him? He couldn't wrap his mind around it entirely because of his original encounter with her, she'd been so kind. Saint didn't bother drawing closer, instinct was instinct no matter how blurred by his friend's presence. She'd been out for him today, his blood, no way was he getting closer. Making a mental note of her horn, something he hadn't understood at the time the white wings he held to his sides shifted, she was part unicorn. That must've been why she hadn't attacked him as a foal, but was hunting him today. Adults were much more capable of defending themselves, and far more sinful than any child. Snuffing out the idea briefly Saint focused his eyes on her, a slight glare, perhaps even a cold blue flame-like essence danced within his eyes.

"Grown quite a bit, and yourself? Doing well I see."

He couldn't help but chuckle a bit, Morana and him hadn't met in ages, and he was about ready to defend himself from an attack from this mare. It didn't seem long ago, but perhaps he'd lost track of time, perhaps he was older still than he first imagined. Thinking about his past adventures he grinned, reveiling a pearl-white set of fangs, now large and fully grown. Never dulled, as he'd only ever taken in grass for food since birth. Spade tail moving slowly behind him Saint stopped his grin short, this wasn't such a plesent meeting as he was taking it as.

"So, I take it you're out hunting. Me none the less..."

Again the flare of what could've been seen from a distance as a certain rage built in his eyes. Of course his heart felt no anger for Morana, she was friend, but the Kalona shifted uneasily. His eyes were that of pure kill, but his heart hadn't even gave him the thought. Part Kalona, no, he was full Kalona but nothing had surfaced. Shifting his body again to gain a more, steady and regal looking position he noted how small she was compared to him now. What a different world time brought.

Morana let her pure white ears flick towards the stallion when he said her name. She couldn't help but smirk at the way he said it, as if he were still a foal almost. Her tail lashed as she watched every movement the stallion made. Please! Go greet him. Let him know you aren't going to hurt him. Morana ignored the voice. She knew that deep down this stallion could kill her. He was bigger than her and probably stronger as well. Her tattered wings spread slightly as she continued to watch the stallion and listen to whatever he said to her. Her pupiless eyes glanced up to his blue ones and she took a small step towards him as her tail now lazily swayed.

"I've been well."

Inside, she was fighting with herself, struggling to not attack the stallion. He would make such a lovely dinner, but he was her friend... or at least she thought he was. Her emotionless eyes looked away from the stallion for a moment, but his scent remained and reminded her constantly that he was there for her to attack. Morana let her head turn back towards the stallion as he spoke.

"I was hunting... not you, though."

Of course, she could never bring herself up to actually killing another soquili, no matter how much she would think about it. Suddenly, an idea popped into the mare's head. Maybe the two of them could go hunting together. It would calm her blood thirsty side and keep her motherly side happy that she didn't hurt the stallion. Why hadn't she thought of this earlier? Because it was a stupid idea, he would make a better meal than whatever they caught and shared. No, he was her friend and not a meal. Why did she have to run into this stallion?

"Have you been out hunting recently?"

(Sorry this took so long, and is so short. I'm drugged up from my surgery the other day and well, thinking "straight" is less than possible right now.)

Saint shook his head, Morana was obviously troubled but by what he wasn't one to begin to understand. This mare, as a mixed race as he had learned, must be more troubled than that of anyone pure to their race. It didn't bother him, he was not one to be aggressive to anyone, let alone a mare, but it did bother him that a dear old friend was having any trouble. Smiling he laughed a bit at her question, that was right, she didn't know he still had never bothered to hunt. Why hunt for blood? Wouldn't that be against everything that he had been taught? Not to harm others, even a hare or foal.

"No, I haven't. I've been doing alright by my mother's old diet..

The white stallion paused, figuring this may throw her a bit, but then again she knew he had been raised differently to say the least.

"I still have yet to ever hunt anything."

Morana's ears flicked towards the stallion when he said he hadn't had meat. Her expression stayed emotionless, but in her mind she thought about why the stallion hadn't even had temptations. She quickly pushed the thought to the side and let her tail lash wildly behind her. The unicorn side to her was working its hardest to overpower the temptation of attacking the much larger male. He seemed so weak and vulnerable, though...

"Well maybe we will change that today."

Morana's words were cold and flat as she let her pupiless eyes wander along the stallion. How could his kalona blood not force him to attack something and take the blood that it carried. She had given into her kalona side multiple times... maybe the stallion was stronger than she was. No! He was simply a fool.

"I'm sure you wish to at least try the taste of the delicious crimson liquid."
