Conference semifinals are aggregate-goal format. The best-seeded remaining teams will host the single-game conference finals.

If the teams are tied after both conference-semifinal legs or after regulation of the conference finals or MLS Cup, two 15-minute periods of extra time will be played. If the teams remain tied, penalty kicks will determine the winner.

I think that the conference final was set up unfairly for the Dynamo. The game started at 10:30 pm Houston time. I had my DVR set to record the game, set to end recording an hour after it was supposed to end...at 12:30. With the power outages the game stopped recording at 12:30 Houston time like it was supposed, but it was only at the 70th minute! The game ended after one in the morning!!! The guys had to be tired by that point, and it was about then that they started making the mistakes that led to the Galaxy scoring. It just couldn't have been fair.

That's why home advantage can be very advantageous.
